    Granddaughter got her initial BS in History. Two days of practice teaching proved to her teaching was not for her. Now, July 2020, she is 85% through (due to Covid19) a 12 month ABSN. She has a 4.0 and was just asked by one of her profs to do nurse residency at a major Houston hospital in L&D. I am a bit proud!

    I got into a BSN Pathways program with a 2.6 on a 3.0 requirement. It’s all about how you present yourself in your personal statement, explain your academic gremlins, ENTRANCE EXAM SCORES and have B’s in your Bio and Chem classes. I got B’s in all of those and absolutely KILLED my teas and scored in the top 95 percentile. They’ll overlook some negatives if they feel you have Potential and really care about nursing as your career choice.
    I failed Anatomy 1 three times before I got serious about school and passed, anyone can do it if you put in the work!

    After graduating Cum Laude from Aggieville, youngest granddaughter took prerequites at a community college Blinn and volunteered at an animal shelter. She applied and was accepted to five nursing programs. She chose the shortest, a ABSN lasting 11 months 8 days. She is halfway through and today I had the privilege of paying for two NCLEX RN study guides. I did the same for other granddaghter when she got har masters from TAM. We are making hotel reservations for graduation Dec18, 2020.

I should've gone with what my gut told me in high school 10 years ago when I thought I wanted to be a nurse. 15 year old Morgan was scared and not near as confident in her abilities. But, here I am starting the application process now to hopefully begin in January 2022! *Fingers Crossed*

    I'm seriously SO glad I found your channel, especially this video! I had been struggling deciding what I wanted to do as a career. It was pharmacy first, and then I decided to major in biology first before going to pharmacy school, and then once this past spring semester came around, I realized I didn't see myself being happy with pharmacy...especially going to school another 3-4 years studying something I probably won't like in the end. I work in a pharmacy now and although I don't mind working there, I wanted a more fulfilling and rewarding job. I had never thought about being a nurse because I immediately jumped to the conclusion that I wouldn't be good at it or diligent enough. I started to think about nursing more when I was in the hospital for a few days... the nurses and home care nurses were so great to me and I loved talking to them about their experiences they've had! I was talking to one of my friends who just graduated nursing school and she said her school has a 2nd degree BSN program that's only 15 months! I already applied so once I get in, I'll be starting next fall and I couldn't be more excited :) I feel so much more motivated knowing that I'll be studying and learning something I can use to truly help people!

    Thank you! This was SO helpful even from 5 years ago... I majored in Psychology but bounced around different majors throughout undergrad (Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology). So I had a great, well-rounded background. I am excited to finally figure out my "path" and purpose. While it may not be as fast or smooth as some of my peers, I am grateful for the detours and I am choosing to trust God's timing.

    I have a BA in Theater Arts. I'll be 50 in May and have finally figured out what I want to be when I go up... well sort of. At first, I thought about being a nutritionist but decided I wanted to broaden my scope so then I thought about PA school. Now, I think NP would be a better fit so next step nursing school. Hoping to apply to an ABSN program next year. But for now, I am knee deep in pre-reqs and should probably be studying for my upcoming A&P exam instead of commenting here. :) Thank you, Liz, for letting me live vicariously through you as I toil away. Absolutely love your videos and have been listening to them while I’m at work! I’m about to start my nursing prereqs next semester with the intent to apply to ABSN programs and I’m so excited! I have a degree in architecture (currently working in healthcare architecture, designing hospitals, etc.). Been working in this field for the past 3 years and really don’t feel like sitting at a desk 9-5 is what I was meant to do my entire life. I’ve always had an interest in medicine and used to love hearing about my mother’s experiences at work (she’s an RN). It’s going to be tough, but I think the fulfillment I’ll feel from attaining and utilizing practical, life-saving knowledge will be so worth this transitional period.

    OMG!!! I am in LOVE with your videos already. I’m graduating in May 2019 with my bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies. I too originally wanted to be a doctor, but I also realize I want to be a mom. And a doctor schedule is so demanding I think I would get in the way. So I changed my major my junior year, and I spent the last year and a half working completing the prerequisites and classes for a bachelor’s. Now I applied at University of Mobile accelerated nursing program which is 12 months! I’m excited and nervous!!! Like I don’t know what to expect or if I can handle it. I’ve done summer school which we complete a 6 month classes in 4 weeks so I’m assuming/hoping it would be the same as this. Congratulations and good luck to everyone.

    I want to get into an Accelerated BSN program so bad but I’m so scared to death. I originally went to undergrad as a nursing major but I had to switch because my grades started to slip. I graduated with a psych degree 2 years ago. I was sent to the hospital a few weeks ago with severe internal bleeding and I was so amazed by the team of nurses that took such great care of me. I haven’t been able to stop rethinking my career path ever since. The nurses told me it’s a hell of a commitment and working hard, but it’s worth every minute of it. As badly as I want to try nursing again, I feel so scared that I will get rejected or I won’t pass my classes again 🙁

    I majored in Psychology with a concentration in Clinical Psychology. I watched this video when I was applying to my ABSN! I'm almost halfway though my 18-month schedule (but really, a 15 month program with some breaks thrown in between). It's amazing how much material we go through in just a week. I have a lot of respect for people in 12 month programs, because I feel like I'm memorizing hundreds of pages of information and dumping it out of my brain every week after our exams.

    Definitely glad I found your channel and this video. I am in my final semester of Graduate School, within the legal field (not law school), and while I love the program I am in, I hate the legal field so much. I work as a paralegal and I am not happy. I have had experiences that keep pushing me towards nursing, so much so that while I am in my last semester of grad school, I am looking into ABSN programs and trying to figure out what prereqs I will need so that I get accepted into a program and succeeding.

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  5 ปีที่แล้ว

I have aced all of my prereqs but it scares me to think of a condensed program with clinicals and such. thank you for the video! i start in may and this reassured me.
