How To Fix Bike V Brake Pads Rubbing On One Side

- In this video I show you how to adjust V brakes so that the brake pads stop rubbing on one side and you achieve alignment of your brakes. I also show you how to tighten the brake cable so that you get a good feel and enough braking force with your brake lever. I also discuss why it's important to have your brakes aligned so that your rim doesn't get bent and damaged and the spokes don't loosen up.

As someone who has just started cycling for the first time since I was child and never had to do his own maintenance this video was fantastic. Thank you!!
You're welcome and thanks for the feedback ☺️
Mate, I take off my wheel, push them back, doesnt work, start "increasing" the gap by unscrewing.
And only now I find this?
Bravo dude
Glad to be of assistance 😊
Don’t usually leave comments, but thank you for your service.
You're welcome 🤗
I really appreciate your patient way of explaining other you tubers cover WAY too much information too fast, I'm a guy who is horrible with my hands and this just what I needed
Thanks for the feedback 🙂
You did a SUPER JOB! My boyfriend, who is an electrical engineer was even super impressed with how you explained the process so beautifully. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback 😊
Thank you for this video! I just got a new bicycle from Walmart, and the brakes have been rubbing the rim while I'm riding and slowing me down, I'm glad it's an easy fix!
Welcome
I thought it was going more complicated then that, like I knew about the barrel adjuster and cable but not the screw by the wheel, thanks man!
You're welcome
Slow and precise , no annoying music. Thank you.
We appreciated that your presentation pace was slow, easy to follow. Oddly, our bike assembly manual did not address this particular issue. You made fixing it easy. Thanks.
Great to hear that 😊
This saved me going to a bike repair shop. Thank you so much for posting and the clear instructions!!
Great to hear that😊
Good explanation of centering brake pads. I would just add that it's a good idea to keep the two adjusting screws as nearly equal as possible as this maintains the overall range of adjustment available. So rather than continuing to tighten the balance screw of the left side I might instead try loosening the screw on the right side.
Good idea. That makes a lot of sense.
Thank you very much !!! After 1 hour searching on Internet, finally i found this video
You're welcome
Thanks! Always a final touch to decrease the tightness of the brakes. Cheers man!
Thanks

Best regards from Italy.
Just spent $200.00 on a tune up (with new pads) only to find this problem on a ride. 1 screw was all way in and the other backed out. Thank YOU! SO MUCH! Also put a bit of loc-tite on the threads
Thanks! I guess I have this problem and will try to fix myself. Today I made 6 km with my bike with the wheel almost blocked and seemed that I climbed a mountain 😂😂😂 my bike almost stops in a valley 😂😂😂
Yeah sounds like it needs some adjustment. Hope this solves your issue
I've been cycling on mine for weeks and was wondering why I felt so tired making the same journeys I always do! 🙊😂 It just felt so much harder!

Thank you so much! I have taken my bike to the shop twice to have this fixed and once I would start riding, the brake pad would readjust itself so that it'd rub on the rim again. I'm going to try your tips tomorrow to see if I can fix this issue for good. Very helpful video!
Thanks for the positive feedback. Hope you get your bike sorted

Noticed on my last ride I couldn't coast too far. All so it was difficult to pedal even in a low gear. Stopped and noticed one brake pad was rubbing on the back rim. Thanks for the tip, had the back brake apart in my garage. Now I know to just adjust the screws........... cool.

Thanks mate… worked like a charm!
Awesome
Thank you so much for carefully explaining adjusting the rear brake pads! My right rear pad is rubbing on the rim and no one (including the manual) has addressed this properly! The closest help I've gotten is "you can turn the adjustment screws....even the manual says turn them in or out until the pads are.....Now I know which way to turn them! And also if I loosen the cable on on the rear brakes, I can tighten the handle bar cable to balance it out. Great😀😁👌👏👏👍👍👍
Glad it helped!
That worked, thank you.

Hey my brake crashing cycke tyre so i should increase space or what
@@artbypranali Not sure what you mean? Is the brake pad hitting the rubber wheel instead of the rim? There are videos showing you how to change brake pads/how to adjust them
@@Homeneer so do you like ajust the bolt on the top too fix it? Or just change the whole thing because I don't need new brake pads I got a new bmx bike it came like that
THANK YOU MY FRIEND!!!!
