It is absolutely mesmerising to watch Matt cut the fabric with absolute accuracy. He is truly a Master Cutter. It is truly an Art. Its fantastic to know that all kits cut by Matt is a gift. 🌻
OMG Matt you are amazing I could watch you cut fabric all day, and Donna when it comes to sewing there is no one better. Thank you two for this video it was amazing.
Ever since I first saw you and Donna use the weight for the cutting I have a new habit that I'll never change. I have an antique alabaster lamp that was my Grandmothers. It was in the shed with the worlds ugliest shade. When I saw it I thought of your weight. I took the shade off and now when I put it on my ruler, I say Grandma hold this. Thank you
I realize that this is an older video but I just had to say how very helpful it has been. The cutting method was explained so well. I truly appreciate it. Thank you for sharing.
hi Matt and Donna you are both great tutors i love love watching you plan cut and sew and make these gorgeous quilts ....great stuff.......... highly commendable
Matching shoes!!! You guys are too cute together. Thanks for ALL the wonderful videos and patterns and GREAT customer service over the years. I watch and re-watch so many of your videos. I should say "thanks" every day.
Matt, our son's name is Matthew. I'm sure you know, Matthew means " a gift from God." So you're not only a 'gift from God' but you're a gift to all of us quilters. Matt thank you for going to such work in order to give us such precision cut material. Thank you from the bottom of our sewing hearts. You're one of my favorite Matt's. Hope you see this post!
Thank you, Matt & Donna! What a clear, detailed, so easy to follow & understand demonstration! “I can do this!” - Thanks to Matt! I'm on to “Part 2!” I am a huge fan! As a fairly novice quilter, you have given me so much confidence & knowledge to “just do it!” THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! Now on to the next step🤗🦩
Certainly a very technical way to cut with such accuracy. I love your partnership and that Matt shares Donnas love of quilting too. My husband just complains of the noise of the sewing machine. Need to watch part 2 to see the beautiful finish.
Matt and Donna, I appreciate this video so much. I have wanted to create the kaleidoscope project someday when I have better cutting facilities. It was wonderful to watch Matt with his precision. I love cutting so I truly relate and this project is awe worthy. Each item that is created from this technique is out of this world fabulous. Oh, happy me... I am off for Part 2. Thanks so much.
You guys never cease to inspire me! Another one to add to my "must do" list! Your instructions are always so easy to understand. I wish your Quilt Shop was in my neighborhood. I know I would spend all my time there!
I’m so excited. I have “busy” fabric that I have fallen in love with. Now I know what I’ll do with it. Using same fabric as backing is brilliant. Thank you for your time. If I lived closer, I think I’d be willing to sweep your Floors - just to be in your shop to watch. My name is Linda, and I’m addicted to your fabric choices. (To be honest, I even need someone with me whenever I go to our Ben Franklin store.) I just remembered, 10+ years ago, I bought a sky-blue fabric, with beautiful birds. Finally, it has a place.
Thank you Matt for this very precise cutting technique, I have tried it and I am so happy how it turned out. You guys do a great job with your demo’s 👍🏼😊
You guys are amazing! I never cared for this pattern, it was too much for my OCD, this version of yours is something I would love to try. Thank you Donna and Matt ♥️♥️♥️
Matt you genius!! Measuring the repeat via salvage text to supplement the visual repeat makes me so much more confident to try try method. I have lots of beautiful yardage perfect for this. Thank you both for sharing!
I have just started to learn to quilt and have been so curious as to how you make the cuts. I love how detailed you describe and do the sewing techniques. I am really enjoying watching and learning from you and your husband. You are both so detailed. Happy quilting.
dear matt...i have made 6 kaleidoscope quilts since i learned how from you 3 years ago!...they are my favorite quilt to make....thank you sooooo much for teaching us this beautiful pattern !!!....there is just one thing i changed....i use a rhomus ruler and i only use 6 layers but they are just as beautiful as an 8 layer....also by using a rhombus ruler you can turn your pieces and make 3 different designs from one stack...you pick which design you like best....again...thank you soooo much
I KNEW there must be a way to make the fabrics line up more precisely for the Stack 'n Whack block! I wasn't happy with the sloppy matching of my first attempt, but now, I just might find the ambition to try this quilt, again. Thank you!
I can’t tell you how glad I am that I found you two!!! Whoever does your videoing (not sure that’s a word) does an EXCELLENT job!! Thank you thank you for what you have done for those of us who strive to be a better quilter!!
Use the flat head Flowered pins 100% better! When you go to cut your strip you can leave pins in .the bead head pins rock the ruler I couldn’t using this method . Love this quilt pattern gets addicted.
Absolutely SUPERB instructions re: how to achieve perfection when taking on this Challenging project! And your Camera Work 👏👏👏. The While package is the BEST. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I'm finally going to try this method. My print has blues and white but I think it will look sharp regardless. My family is from Holland so it will resemble the delft blue theme. I'm looking forward to this project. Thank you for both videos so I'll be able to make a large table runner. I might make matching pillow covers.
We also had a book and it took us several years to try cutting our first stack 'n whack blocks! Now we are hooked and are happy to pass on the techniques that we have developed to make the process easier for you.
Great teaching, Matt! Step by step, clear. Thank you. A few questions... 1. Without the use of the mirror that Donna demonstrated, what are some basic guidelines to fabric selection? 2. Have you tried different size triangles (e.g., smaller)? How did it look? 3. When is Part 2 coming? Can't wait! Thanks again for sharing and for helping us learn.
That is too cool for school!!!!!!! Hinged mirror...who'd a thunk it?? Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I found running a threaded needle through all layers and securing with a tack stitch easier and no worry about shifting fabric when cutting or hitting pins.
Such precision...I think what i really need is my own "Matt"... :) .....You guys are great!.. Love your fabrics and love your tutorials!.. Thanks again.. Now on to Part Two!!!
I was watching this, and just saw a guest, Paula Doyle on The Quilt Show do the fabric match, but she added a little step that I love. Once you do your earthquake, go to your pinned sections and using something like a milliner's needle make a large basting stitch, in place so you have a couple of stitches on top of one another. Do this for your entire piece. Then take out your secondary pins. This guarantees that if the unforeseen should happen (never! Ha!) your match will be protected...simple and easy and the stitch won't get in your way. Just a bit of added security.
I love your tutorials on quilting very much. I am learning alot. Would you consider offering a tutorial on how to applique. I need help with skill and confidence. Thanks
So, in a way, this is akin to fussy cutting. However, the key is to be as precise in your repetition of fabric pattern as possible. Thank you for sharing this.

This is one of my favorite techniques. I would not have tried it without your guidance and encouragement with your videos. Thanks!!😊
I love how depth you go with all your quilt tutorials. I have learned so much from you and Mat. Just wanted to say thank you
The accuracy of this cutting method is AWESOME! Love watching the Jordans at work!

You guys are terrific! Natural teachers! Great artists too.
I made a kaleidoscope quilt years ago for my grandson & I was lucky enough to use pre cut quilt blocks . Thank you for showing how it is done.
Certainly a very technical way to cut with such accuracy. I love your partnership and that Matt shares Donnas love of quilting too. My husband just complains of the noise of the sewing machine. Need to watch part 2 to see the beautiful finish.
This is one of my favorite videos. Thank you for the detailed instructions. I wanted to make Kaleidoscope table runners for my sisters this year.
WOW, sure worth buying that precut. So precise!
Those are so pretty
The Jordans are a WONDERFUL find!
I'm so thankful they've made this channel...A treasure trove of information on quilting technique!
I enjoy watching the way you prepare your fabric and sewing them , I like the way did the disappearing nine patch. Thanks
I Love the videos you put out! They teach the right stuff so people can get the best results!
I love all your quilts
Thank you finally someone I can follow on how to make this quilt. I've been wanting to make this quilt for years. Thank you again.

It isn't a very easy process to do, but it is so satisfying when you are done!
You guys are amazing! I never cared for this pattern, it was too much for my OCD, this version of yours is something I would love to try. Thank you Donna and Matt ♥️♥️♥️

Oops...where are my manners? 🙈 credits to your husband, too of course! You both always do a great work! ❤
It is very nice and helpful video, thanks for sharing,

I believe that their son, James, does the video. I agree, he does an amazing job!
All the years Kurt has been helping make/make clothes (about 35 of my 60+), this is something I think I want to make for Carol's dolly-room.
I love this, what a unique method and beautiful result! Some day I will make one of these!
I cannot wait to see part 2! This is the best, by far, video I've seen on how to cut the fabric for this type of quilt. Thank you!!
Use the flat head Flowered pins 100% better! When you go to cut your strip you can leave pins in .the bead head pins rock the ruler I couldn’t using this method . Love this quilt pattern gets addicted.

We also had a book and it took us several years to try cutting our first stack 'n whack blocks! Now we are hooked and are happy to pass on the techniques that we have developed to make the process easier for you.
I read three books on this type of quilt and couldn't get a grasp. Thank you again Jordan Fabrics for breaking it down to simplicity.
Great !!! Keep going ! Love that you have great information with no fluffing and waffling on !
Matt your brilliant. I wouldn’t even attempt this level of cutting. It’s amazing. I love the earthquake lol
Great teaching, Matt! Step by step, clear. Thank you. A few questions...

Love the accuracy. Easier than what I was taught. Thank you.
Thank you Jordans! Always been fascinated with the Kaliedoscope pattern, and now I know how! Hunting now for part 2! 😊
I found running a threaded needle through all layers and securing with a tack stitch easier and no worry about shifting fabric when cutting or hitting pins.
Oh great tip! I always thread baste my quilts for that very reason.
Such precision...I think what i really need is my own "Matt"... :) .....You guys are great!.. Love your fabrics and love your tutorials!.. Thanks again.. Now on to Part Two!!!
This is great! First thing I thought was to also make sure no kitties were watching so they couldn't come and attack the stacks! (;
such intense cutting, love your dedication Matt!

Love this method, waiting for part two, thanks
