I'll never get over that one quote from that U.S. military instructor (forget what branch he came from) once said; "the best way to clear a staircase is to go outside and call in air support to drop a JDAM and level the whole building."
Especially when watching the footage coming out of Ukraine, it's a harsh reminder of how dangerous CQB is, no matter how trained or well equipped you are.
@@civilianuseonly Do you know where i can find CQB footage from Ukraine, and even Israel? I have seen a few but not many. I know Telegram is a great source.
Also in Ready or Not, shields when not equipped essentially acts as back free armour that will never break, which is useful in some of the more extreme situations.
I almost always use the shield. It helps, but all too frequently, suspects somehow manage to kill me in one shot while I'm crouching behind a shield with full health while wearing full steel plate armor AND the ballistic helmet. This doesn't always happen, but it's frequent enough that when I encounter a suspect, usually they're shooting first so I try to dodge back behind cover and wait. If the shield won't protect me, it sure won't protect the officers using me as cover. This means that neither I nor the other officers can move forward until the suspect reloads. At the same time, the bad guys can take down heavily armored cops (without the shield) almost instantanously whereas the cops have to have an SA-58 or shotgun to take them down at all. IMO either the shield has been weakened or the bad guys' guns have been made more powerful than the cops' guns.
The most success I have had with a shield is to aggressively rush defenders who are hunkered down in a corner. Gives them less time to react and be able to shoot at the shield
Man, the thatchers pulse ost near the end of the vid really hits home. Reminds me how siege used to have such a cool style when they were going for realism back then. This is somehow more fitting to Ready or Not than it does with current Siege.
I have slowly but surely achieved S rank without one. I load up with a mirror gun and 4 tasers (26 shots) And I equip my squad with the VKS pellet rifle (10 mags) and 3 wedges each (24 total wedges) It takes me about 30 mins or so on the bigger maps, but i can successfully say, slow and steady wins the race!
GLID gaming has some very nice playthrough using Ballistic Shield, especially in his 3rd playthrough. His US Marine buddy basically carry the day, clearing the entire map using just 3-men team. Too bad he has become more militaristic in gameplay style recently, using mods that support his training back in his military days. Compared to the police/SWAT procedure nature of Ready or Not.
I really like that Ready or Not is a police shooter first and foremost. If you're playing seriously, taking in as many people alive as possible should be a priority
@@civilianuseonly Yeah, even in his newer playthrough Glid likes to shoot at already downed guys instead of handcuffing. It's breaching ROE imho. I do realize that Spec Ops and actual SWAT have different mindset. Still a bit shame given his technique....
@@cool06altNecro here, but keep in mind GLID and his friends roleplay as a military JTF in every game they play. The use of military ROE in RoN is simply because of that, since he aims to give a tactical cinematic experience. I wouldn't be surprised if the score tally at the end of every mission was abysmal though lol
@@cottoneyejoe8285 In recent playthrough maybe, but in his olden playthrough? no. He used SWAT-level procedure which itself is very entertaining, watching it as someone that wanted to write fanfic about establishing anti-mafia operation.

Lost count of how many times shield on back has saved me when doing solo runs
iirc this was a legit tactic in mw2 along with shield trolling. I'm old, goodbye

"law enforcement has to make sure no one innocent is harmed"
"simply level the building"
I have a sneaking suspicion they only use that tactic if it's 100% confirmed if there are no innocent people on site

Agreed. Compare the first gameplay trailer to what launched. Never understood them making it a hero-fps when they strayed so far from reality
Don't forget that getting S+ rank on all maps is pretty much impossible without a shield
I love being a mobile bunker for my teammates as being a literal bullet sponge gives me purpose

I like the Rainbow Six soundtrack in the background. Specifically, the Article 5 Soundtrack

I feel the shield can't even protect me, let alone the team.
This was cool, short, and informative. Thanks!
Good video on a underutilized (at least for me) piece of equipment!
Thanks!
I am the foudner of the Shield League, for us the shield is sacred. If the game has a shield there will always be a point when you see me use it.
Get this man moar subs been enjoying your videos for a while :)
Much appreciated!
The lord has spoken!!
Most of the time i only play with another guy, i rock the shield. He breach for me. and we try and cover each other the best we can
Very effective way to clear rooms
Be their shield
This man is like Xbox ahoy for ready or not
I stopped using it, since your visibility and ability to return fire are almost non-existent once the suspects start shooting
Oh , nice , new video drops after months ... while I am in University ... lovely ...
At least you can play RoN
You can do it too, you just have to (foolishly) trade your sleep for gaming time
Can I use the taser with the shield in RoN?
Is this a mod? How is it equipped
nice vid 👍
Thanks!
i didnt knew people still play RoN
