    Skin tone definitely looked better on the Pixel. I just assume that most people's pics will be of people so that makes Pixel the "winner" for me

    • @vcfxvcbcb
      @vcfxvcbcb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The only thing that they improved is skin tone, video is better due to better hardware but no much effort ... HDR is too aggressive and the bokeh is so fake. They put some gimmicky features.. OK... Ultrawide isn't that good.
      So next year everything will be better. Like what Apple does.
      I hope more camera updates come for pixel 6 in the near future.

      I totally agree! Skin tone on Pixel looks more natural and the depth of the face is much nicer too than iPhone, even before pixel 6. iPhone makes the face look orange and flat quite often... Pixel is truly the winner of taking people pictures!

      Yes It's very funny when the iPhone did not have a macro mode, they proved that this was an unnecessary function, when there was no contrast in the photo, they proved that it was better to be more realistic, and then process it as you like.

    The Pixel definitely has a long ways to go for its videos; however, when it comes to color balance for pictures, the iPhone gives very saturated vibrant pictures which are ready to be uploaded, while the Pixel gives you the natural look so that you have more options for editing. Hmm. Good review - thanks - but some inconsistencies. 3:06 incorrect captions - says night mode and night sight when the commentary says it's just the main camera with no night modes engaged then subsequently switches to photos with the modes engaged?
    Later (4:12) says that "you can use the Pixel's telephoto lens" for a Macro shot but then pointlessly moves in with the main camera do demonstrate an unfocused 'no macro mode' image and then doesn't show the tele lens? On the ultrawide photo of the colorful houses you didn't actually say which was the closest to the *actual scene* in front of you - just that the Puerto Rico vibe was bright and you liked the iPhone "adding a little more punchiness" to the pictures.

    • @KosmicJelly

      Binning doesn't "remove noise" at all, but okay. What do you mean by increasing definition?

    • @StevenHuxley
      @StevenHuxley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KosmicJelly well, by combining the information from 4 adjacent pixels in low light conditions the result is a picture with less resolution, but less noise.
      Where there is more light, the same technique achieves a less blurred image, so that the perceived definition is higher.
      Sure, they're just tricks and I'd rather have the full 50mp image(Samsung actually said it could even provide a 100mp picture with it), but that's how Google decided to use it...
      Or at least that's how I understood it, but I'm open to corrections.
      A piece of advice: when you comment, try to add new information instead of just saying "you're wrong". It is a good way to have civilized conversations on TH-cam.

    • @KosmicJelly
      @KosmicJelly 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StevenHuxley I was just curious what you meant by "definition", I understand what pixel binning is.
      It could effectively simulate a 100MP sensor because there's 2 photodiodes per pixel for the AF phase detection, but I'd have to question the returns on image quality that doing so could realistically have to offer.
      There's no need to correct anything you said really, as I mentioned above that I was primarily just trying to understand your comment correctly, not correct you - the moot point about "removing" noise had more to do with your chosen semantics than with anything relevant to photography, hence why I didn't bother getting into it beyond a mere mention. It's an incorrect statement in the same way that saying: "ISO controls the sensor sensitivity" is an incorrect statement - technically incorrect, but not really worth correcting in most cases. But nowhere did I say "you're wrong".

      @@KosmicJelly my apologies then. It seems like the bias was mine all along.
      I agree that the advantage would be marginal at best, but on the other hand I still wish we had the option of capturing such an image. With more powerful desktop processing power we could get a little more detail than what is available to us now.

    Anyone hear anything about the pixel 7 yet?
    As an iphone user I was really thinking about permanently switching to pixel 6. The hype was real but now I feel disappointed.
    While trying out the phone I realized it was missing key features such as a face unlock, facetime, longer term OS support, good video modes and a notch. Even worse is the fact that my wife left me after she saw the green bubbles.
    Now I'm realizing that my apple watch series 7 and airpods 3 don't even work properly with this phone. Google what are you doing??
    You guys had the chance to hit it big with this phone. You could've shown courage and removed the lightning port from the phone, or even increased the price to 1499 but now Apple is gonna beat you to the punch.
    This phone really feels like an "s" series phone. Nothing revolutionary. Google should take some more cues from Apple. The iphone 12 to iphone 13? That was incredibly game changing, I almost pissed myself from excitement when Apple showed off the cinematic mode. I was crying while they showed off ceramic shield, knowing that I could finally break the android display models at best buy without breaking my own phone. I achieved orgasm when I realized the colors on the iPhone 13 screen weren't due to the LSD I took before the event started.
    Sitting alone in my home (the kids left with my wife) I realize that Apple really won this time. Google next time you can do better than this.

    Personally speaking they're both good . The pixel seems to have improved it's video capturing capabilities. The pixel is a lot cheaper too. I own a pixel 6, one criticism I have is about screen nit brightness, I find the screen a bit full. As for the photos they're not significantly better than the photos taken on my pixel 4a, I've seen no marked improvement, albeit white balance is better 🙂

    Disappointed with video on both phones considering the prices however the video on iPhone is better to me but the images on Pixel are refreshingly natural and closer to what I’ve been longing for.
    I’ve been talking to friends and they’re not feeling what I’m saying but I’m a millennial so I my tweens-teens were in the 90s and I was the photo queen!! Never without 35mm, Polaroid or This cool disk camera my dad bought me & our photos were better than the photos now on a smartphone or DSLR and lately I’ve been over it. I want those old photos back, the accuracy of the lighting and the details was true to life and I haven’t seen a camera in the last 10-15years that can do that.
    I would say the pixel captures reality best. It’s the accuracy of lighting and details but it’s still not as real as a 35mm film photograph and that’s what I want.
    We didn’t have any filters, rarely needed to take more than one photo to get the shot, all the colors were actually comparable to the live scene the only issue we had now and then was red eye. So what I want is a camera that gives me that quality and that experience rather than kinda selling me a digital image because the captures aren’t accurate to what’s seen with the eye, if that makes sense.
    Honestly, even without a filter I don’t which image is what I truly look like… the one in the mirror or the one on phone they’re drastically different… now why wasn’t that a thing with the 35mm cameras of the 90s but it is now.
    What I observe with the eye, in the mirror and with the camera should all be consistent. No filters. #FixIt

Whats funny also the color profile of video on Iphone matches the color profile of photos on pixel 🧐.
