    10 years ago we were getting much larger jumps but now it's just not the case the difference between the six pro and the eight pro is marginal at best. 🎉

      I have the Pixel 6 Pro, I'm a bit annoyed about the heating & battery when I use my phone a lot but besides that I don't have anything to say. I'll wait and see what the Pixel 9 has to offer & if I'm interested I'll wait for a discount.

    Used Pixel 6 Pro seems to be the best bang for the bucks. You can get under $300 for the used P6P.

    • @hammadarshad2202
      @hammadarshad2202 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you sure it is a good decision instead of getting a used p7p for few more bucks? And it has one more advantage of OS updates!
      Additionally as of now p6p is a 3 to 2 year old box opened device might be facing less battery life or changed hardware. So p7p is only one year old if someone is able to find a slightly used device that can assure longevity plus Tensor G2 performance over G1 .

    The Google 6 Pro is still impressive for it's age and for me there's not a hugely convincing difference between that and the 7 Pro. However the 8 Pro has definitely improved on the low light handling and the noise produced by the camera has been definitely well worked on and I feel that the 6 Pro and 7 Pro both still struggle a bit with the noise with low light situations. I personally am waiting to get mine in the next few weeks and I'm going for the 8 Pro but I might go for a different brand which is cheap and is still impressive for low light photography, specifically astrophotography. My reasons for this is due to my line of work and because my current phone is a cheap Honor phone and it's basically dying and is incredibly slow. Nice comparison though.

    The video that I didn't know I needed. :) I have been taking photos to compare my P6P and P8P myself, and mostly came up with exactly what you have here in your video. Would have saved me some effort! I feel the P6P is a bit warmer than my P8P. In many of my photos, warmer seems more pleasing, but I feel like the P8P is more natural and truer even if the image itself may not be as pleasing as the P6P. Excellent job on your video!

    One short answer to your question about 48MP or 50MP. I tested this in JPG, the Pixel 8 Pro outputs either 12.5 MP or 50.1 MP pictures across all 3 back cameras. And no, they are not 12 MP binned images enlarged to 50 MP, there is a lot more detail in the 50MP shots. It is also clear that the phone takes longer time to read the sensor data on 50MP shots, which is probably why it does not seem to work well on moving subjects.

    I just got the Pixel 8 pro and it's awesome. But I don't understand why every Pro Pixel has had the lenses in the physical order they're in. They should be laid out in order of focal length to minimize the parallax jump between them. This has to contribute to the janky lense switching while shooting video. I'm sure there's some engineering space saving reason I don't know about. But I wonder if they've even considered this impact of the layout.

  • @MultiZymethSK
    @MultiZymethSK ปีที่แล้ว

    28:49 - I'm not sure why this is such a common misconception. The perspective does not change, cropping an image has the exact same effect as having a lens with longer focal length. The perspective is exactly the same. The difference is the resolution (obviously) and the depth of field. Essentially cropping acts like using a smaller sensor with the same lens. So the benefit of having a tele camera is the larger sensor, shallower depth of field and higher resolution than cropping from the main sensor. Not the perspective/compression.

    • @LoverOfTech
      @LoverOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      A crop is definitely not the same. If you're doing a 5x crop on the main lens it will look different to thr 5x Tele lens.
      It is less the case here because the crop is in the 4x on the 6 Pro

    • @MultiZymethSK
      @MultiZymethSK ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LoverOfTech It quite literally is the same in terms of the perspective and compression. That's how physics work. Feel free to look up how sensor size and lens focal length are tied together. You have a different perspective with a wide-angle camera because to get the same framing, you have to get closer to the subject. If you're standing at a fixed point, the wider angle gives you larger field of view, but the center part is the same as with a longer focal length (or alternatively smaller sensor). You can of course test it yourself. Take a photo with the "1x" camera, then with the "5x" from the same spot. In post crop the 1x image to get the same framing as the 5x image. The resolution and depth of field will be different, but perspective and compression will be the same. I understand you review phones etc so there's no need for you to deeply understand how the image in a camera is created, but you should ideally also make at least some research when someone corrects you. Or don't, I'm writing this correction mainly for people watching the video, because reviews should ideally provide correct info. And as I mentioned it's not just you, I've heard this from multiple people doing phone reviews, and I understand why people think that, as I also used to think that optical zoom somehow compresses the image more than a simple crop. Lenses are not exactly super intuitive.

    • @TedThomasTT
      @TedThomasTT ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MultiZymethSK dude what the hell are you talking about? Is English your first language? I'm trying to find a reason why'd you'd write something so completely incorrect.

    • @MultiZymethSK
      @MultiZymethSK ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TedThomasTT No, it's not my first language, that doesn't change how reality works. If my explanation does not meet your standards, you can always ask for an explanation on r/AskScience or r/ELI5.
      You can also more easily see it when you have a zoom lens. While you're zooming in, the effect is the same as digitally cropping in, except with a digital crop you'll get worse quality because you're using a small portion of the sensor and lens. But the word that people use in this case is "compression", which describes the effect of things appearing similar in size when you're zoomed in. It does not matter how you achieve that zoom, provided you're not zooming in "with your legs" - which means moving closer and using a wider FoV. Some phones choose to use the wide angle lens in low light even when they could use the tele one, because it captures more light. But guess what? When it's compared side by side to a "native" zoom with a lens, nothing like compression changes.

    Best comparisons on TH-cam! I think in the next two updates they will tune the Pixel 8 Pro even more. The last time they changed sensors (Pixel 6), it took them a couple of updates to tune them. It's almost as if they slapped on either the P6 or P7 algorithms because some look more like the P6 and others like the P7. Main takeaways for me: Wider aperture on all lenses on the P8 give much better natural background separation and better lowlight. Autofocus seems to be improved on the P8. Good eye on the increased brightness effecting portrait lighting on the P8. This seems to support my hypothesis that they're a couple updates away from its maximum potential. Another takeaway is that the different between the P6 and P7 is negligable. I'm glad I waited to come from the P6 to the P8 and didn't pay attention to the noise. Prediction is that the next one to get will be the P10 and Google will lift off into the stratosphere once they have a better chip architecture to work with. It will be like a sprinter who has trained for years with ankle weights finally removing them.

    This is brilliant!!! I got a 7 pro last year with very high hopes for the 5x optical zoom and have been consistently disappointed with the color tuning and resolution. Perhaps the resolution issue would improve with a tripod, but Ive not found a tripod that fits in my pocket. The lense flare color shifting can produce some artistically interesting photos. But yeah, a clear image is what we're mostly after. I'm a pro film photographer, so anyway I'm not a fan of the oversharpness on the digital side. I don't swap phones every year - due for an upgrade to my iPhone 12pro. Debating whether that camera and computational photography aspect is that much better than the 7pro to make it worthwhile
    Any thoughts on this? Tnx

      I mean, the 5x zoom on the 8 Pro has improved a lot, especially when it comes to colours, light and sharpness. All the phones are on Android 14 so the Pixel 6 Pro and 7 Pro I don't see them getting better than what I have showcased

      Странно, но дымка на телефото 7Про мне нравится больше, чем избыточная резкость у 8Про. Получается она программным путем, тогда как снимки днём на телефото 7Про очень похожи на снимки с Айфона, из за дымки. Поэтому, мне не немного понятно ваше восхищение избыточной резкостью телефото 8Про.

    from what i noticed in video mode I noticed improvement in color, sharpness, and lens flare submission between the 7pro and the 8pro, but i prefer the dynamic range from the 7pro. I guess it was hard to software process all the improvements with the color and sharpness and also get a more natural dynamic range. some people might actually prefer this new one more though but for me it feels like the shadows are crushed a bit too much for my taste.

    Привет, бро)) По сути, мы видим хорошее улучшение четкости в телевике при съемке видео, но это попахивает избыточным шарпингом, на мой взгляд. Ну и режимы высокого разрешения добавили в 8Про. Хотя, я думаю, что режимы высокого разрешения со временем добавят и на 7Про, ибо основой и телефото умеют в полное разрешение. По сравнению с 7Про я бы не сказал, что 8Про ушел далеко и апгрейд не критичен. А вот по сравнению с 6Про - да, улучшения будут ощутимы. Начиная от телефото и заканчивая бесшевным переключением 4к60 на всех режимах.

    • @TexasCat99
      @TexasCat99 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaroncoe9656 Keep in mind that Google has not released all the features promised for the phone until Dec. And every few months Google updates the camera software and there are sometimes improvements. This has happened with the Pixel 7. I just updated my camera on my P7, the UI is mostly good. Don't care for the the swipe to settings. The gear is in a much better place... which is all we need. So I keep accidentally getting the settings menu. UGH.
      I think the color on the P8 is better, most of the time. While the grass was greener on the P7 and P6, his orange jacket was bright and lively on the P8. Having brown leaves look green isn't accurate, which is what I don't want. Samsung is notorious for pumping out the color so photos pop.

    • @TexasCat99
      @TexasCat99 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LoverOfTech Took me a while to watch your whole video. At first, I thought the P6Pro had a much sharper image than the P8 and a bit more than the P7pro. At 9min53s, the brick are sharper and the sign with 4 circles is much clearer than on the P8. In other videos, sometimes the leaves look sharper on the P6pro. But of course your jacket and skin tone looks great on the P8Pro. Then I realized. The P8 wasn't recording lower quality video, but that it considered the background less important than you, the subject. Where you're sharp. So on the P7Pro/P6Pro, you lacked detail, more flat. Thus, the P8 ends up doing the right thing.
      I'll still want 8Pro features, but not the 8Pro size. The Telephoto lens is great, I want it... but size matters. :(
