    The retail version comes with a printed manual. I just bought one of these, it seems like a decent board. So far I've updated the BIOS to enable Resizeable BAR on my 3090.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      don't forget to update your vbios on the gpu too for resizable bar. you have to do both.

      @NeonT3tra25 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      what is resizable bar ?

    • @dangerzone6481
      @dangerzone6481 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NeonT3tra25 straight from nvidia
      With the ever-growing size of modern game assets, this results in a lot of transfers. Using Resizable BAR, assets can instead be requested as-needed and sent in full, so the CPU can efficiently access the entire frame buffer. And if multiple requests are made, transfers can occur concurrently, rather than queuing.
      Basically instead of small sections loading and "standing in line to load" resizable bar allows for all to load at once giving a possible performance boost in game I use it and see about a 2 to 10 fps increase give or take some

    For the TPM
    In the BIOS, check Advanced > AMD fTPM Configuration > TPM Device Selection and make sure it's set to Firmware TPM (assuming you don't have a distinct TPM chip installed).
    In addition to first response Disk needs to be GPT format not MBR. It can be changed if necessary. Then after changing you would need to turn off CSM in bios.

      I hear ya there. Deciding on a motherboard can be pretty tough. It's all about knowing what you need from it, what it can support in terms of drives, I/O, etc., and then Power Delivery and its cooling can be very important too if you're going to put in a demanding CPU. Have fun with your new PC build!

      Hi, if you have 2 jacks, 1 for the mic, the other for the headset speakers, then green and pink (pink is mic). If you have only 1 jack, you may need a splitter OR if your case front audio has only 1 jack that combines both mic and headphones, then you can use that, but you'll probably want to go the splitter route and use the rear inputs as they can sound better.

    Just picked one of these up at microcenter for 150. running a 5700G because I don't want to invest into an old socket. As I suspect the next cpus to be AM5. So far so good. Upgraded from an i7 920 and an MSI 760 Twin Frozr. and what an upgrade that was. So far I have had issues with the old AI Suite III software causing a boot loop.
    To fix that, I downloaded the AI Suite Uninstaller from Asus. put it on a flash drive and booted to safe mode. I was able to uninstall the software and start installing the new Asus board software without issues.
    I really appreciate the quality of this in depth video.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and I'm glad the video was of help. I haven't mucked with AI Suite III since my VII Hero board for my 2700X. I just found it too resource consuming and buggy. The "easy" overclocking would end up creating more crashes than it was worth. In my recent Build video where I used the Strix B550-F I believe I mentioned I didn't install it due to the invasiveness of the software. I'd recommend staying away from it, but the Armoury Crate is decent enough with Aura and other features. You can't overclock or do any of the fan tuning other than some presets, but you can always create a custom fan curve within the BIOS. I did a BIOS tour video for this board as well, it might prove helpful to you.

    I just ordered this mobo an hour ago but the wifi variant to replace my messed up 2nd hand MSI MEG B550 Unify-X, which has been randomly getting black screens with a 00 debug code and I have no idea what's causing it. I really like this MSI mobo though, it has a power button, reset button and clear cmos button on the mobo along with a debug code LED display and 4 m.2 slots, two of which are pcie 4.0 plus it has 6 USB 3.2 slots on the back, but then again MSRP for this mobo was $300. You are absolutely correct that mobos in this price range even though less expensive then my current mobo, should include the power and clear cmos buttons on the mobo, they should also include the debug code LED display instead of just the stupid debug LEDs that tell you nothing.

      Check these options I've linked. amzn.to/3RU0DwL
      One definite option is to add a PCIe card with an internal Type-C connector on it. You can then connect your case type-c cable to it. It also has the added bonus of additional rear ports (usually). This one for example has additional rear ports and 2 front internal type-c ports so you can connect your case and get more in the back. amzn.to/3RU0DwL

      That CPU will be great for work tasks. The Noctua cooler, depending on the model, should work. I recommend a Dual-tower cooler from them. If you're doing 3D modeling, I would suggest an Nvidia 4080 or even 4090 if you can afford it, and if you can wait until Jan/Feb the 5000 series GPUs should be announced making 4000 series, especially used if price is a concern, cheaper especially in the used market.

    I have been using this motherboard for a few years now and have recently decided to upgrade my storage of 500gb SSD by adding a 4tb M2 4.0.
    Unfortunately I can't get it to work. Once the M2 is installed it only recognizes that and ignores the old SSD where I have my OS installed.
    I did read on the manual that if the M2_2 slot is populated the SATA 5 and 6 are disabled but that is not my case as I have it on the 1 slot and using SATA 1 and 2 for my old SSD and a HDD.
    Any ideas?

    • @MiddleofKnowhere

      Make sure the boot order for your drives is still the same. If you didn't reshuffle anything, like move the OS m.2 to the lower one and put the new m.2 into the upper slot, then it shouldn't be an issue. In the bios though you can set boot priority, so maybe something happened there?

    The intel i227V network unit on this mobo is a bit sketchy... i and many other people have had issues with it, if you don't have an ethernet cable that can do 1GB, like if you have an old cable that you put through your house 10 years ago while building it... or a cable that is just a little bad, but works fine on other computers, then it just straight up won't recognize that you even have an ethernet cable and will give you "no ethernet cable connected". Updating the i227V firmware (which is a big hassle, but i tried it anyway) and testing older and newer firmware and windows drivers doesn't make any difference there's just something about the network unit itself.
    You can solve this by manually setting it to duplex 10/10 Mb then setting it back up to full duplex 100/100 Mb, but you have to do that every single time you restart your computer or even after going back from sleep mode. Normally the network cards just detect these things automatically but for some reason the one on this mobo is wonky.
    If you get yourself a new fine ethernet cable it'll be fine though, but still, it shouldn't be like this.
    Other than that I'd say it's a pretty fine motherboard specially now that the price on it has come down a little bit, earlier market price from a year ago was a bit too much for this kind of board i'd say.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  3 ปีที่แล้ว

They connect no problem but when I play something the sound starts off normal for a couple of seconds and then cuts in and out and then cuts out completely.
    I saw a post on reddit that said to turn off the PSU via the switch and unplug it from the wall.it also said to hold down the power button for 30 seconds and plug everything back in and turn pc on again. It didnt fix anything unfortunately.
    Do you have any clue on how to solve this?

    • @MiddleofKnowhere

      There are 6 fan headers on the board. You’ll either need a fan splitter, a hub, or daisy chained fans to get 7. Two or three fan splitters are relatively inexpensive.

      First, thanks for wathing! As for your question, I really like the AsRock B650 LiveMixer motherboard. It's currently around $150. It has a fun design and a load of features. At the $189 price point There's an ASUS TUF, Gigabyte Aorus AORUS ELITE AX V2, and another ASROCK board that are probably worth looking into. It all depends on the features you need but I think the LiveMixer (also did a review on it) is worth looking into if you don't mind the loud color design.

      I've Used the MSI B550-A Pro before and it has loads of features, like Front and rear USB Type-C that the B550-F doesn't (only rear). Both are slick boards though, so really comes down to what all you need. If you need a front type-c port for a case that has it, then the Pro all the way. I think they both perform comparatively when it comes to Power Delivery and RAM compatibility.

    So i cant update my bios if the Cpu is in? Why? Can someone explain to me?

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can. However, updating it without it installed is sometimes necessary if the motherboard's CURRENT BIOS doesn't support your CPU. For example, I buy a B550 motherboard and it has BIOS 1.0 installed. It supports A and B CPUS. Then C CPUS are released and a BIOS update to 2.0 is required for compatibility with CPU C. If I buy that motherboard and it still has the original BIOS (1.0) installed the computer will not work after installing CPU C until the Update is made. This is why being able to update a BIOS prior to CPU installation using the BIOS flashback button is so important. After you have a BIOS installed compatible with your hardware you'll be able to install everything get the PC up and running and then update the BIOS with the CPU installed no problem. Updating without CPU or RAM installed adds flexibility and is just another method. Hope this helps.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. After looking at the Gigabyte, it does have front type-c connectivity if your case has that port. Almost everything else is very similar to the ASUS. After that it just is a matter of which brand have you used before, and like? Also the ASUS has 4+8 pin CPU power delivery whereas Gigabyte only has 8-pin, so if you are getting a 5900X or higher CPU, I'd go with that board. Possibly even for the 5800X. Especially if you intend to overclock or do intensive activities besides gaming where you'll need the extra power.
      Hope this helps!

    One thing caught me off guard though, you say you cannot have cpu or ram installed when using Bios flashback?

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's an option for the BIOS flashback, you can have one installed, but when you don't it's usually when the motherboard's current BIOS won't support the CPU so you need a newer one before installing said CPU. For instance let's say this motherboard supports Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series CPUs, which it does, but the current BIOS on it was older when Ryzen 5000 hadn't come out yet. Installing the Ryzen 5xxx CPU won't work and the motherboard won't post. In this instance you'll want to use BIOS flashback, not have the CPU or RAM installed, and then install the BIOS that brings Ryzen 5000 compatability.
      The second scenario is, you have your CPU and RAM installed, the computer boots as normal but the newest BIOS fixes things, adds more compatibility and you want to update, then you can update as normal -- install the new BIOS on a flash drive use the BIOS utility ASUS makes you use to convert file, insert flash drive, reboot into BIOS, then update.
      Hope that helps.

    Hi. Please answer me one question fo i am kinda confused foe the reason this borad comes with a hdmi and an d.port : does it actualy have onboard graphics ? i can remeber in the past when a board came with some sort of video output that it had a sort of onboard minimum graphics like my ancient asus p7p55d which is no longer among us ... i had no graphics card on that for some time and used it only as a music pc. so if this board has onboard graphics to at least be able to work eith that , thats the board i am gonna go with... thankz

      The board doesn’t have onboard graphics but any Ryzen cpu with G at the end like 3200G or 5600G has an integrated GPU (not very powerful) and if you use one of those CPUs, you can use the video ports on the motherboard.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere

      Did you set the ram xmp profile in the bios for your 3600 speed? You can also check by downloading cpu-a and in the memory tab you’ll see the ram speed (it will be roughly half as you double it to get the 3600 or 3200).

    • @MiddleofKnowhere

      You're good on cooling, prob will need more fans. Since you don't intend to overclock, the stock CPu cooler for 5800x should be okay but maybe consider a better air-cooler, maybe a noctua chromax one. For your audio interface, wow that thing looks beefy. Looks like you just plug it into the PC via USB 2.0 . . . that's cool.

    • @MiddleofKnowhere
      @MiddleofKnowhere  ปีที่แล้ว

      So this codec from some research is regarded as being pretty good. However, I'm of the opinion if you want to do professional recording, you will want to invest in an external solution or at the very least some kind of audio PCIe card. If you don't have extra cash to do so at the moment, then I'd say use the onboard solution for now while saving up. Ultimately, no motherboard's onboard sound won't be as good as an external solution dedicated to what you're trying to do be it voice over, sound effects, or music production, but it's a start.
