      Kobe is the number 6 leader in turnovers. He traveled a lot, I guess that’s why you said he had foot work. Lebron is number 1 in turnovers. Jordan is not even on the top 25 list he’s 34 on the list as of right now. Since most people think Jordan is ball-hogger you would think he would turn over the ball way more. That’s why I consider Jordan as the best, less mistakes wins games. Also, Jordan was never a lazy player.

      @@64mali714I guess you never watched Jordan's game, he got away with a lot of traveling, and I'm not talking TH-cam videos, Kobe was never lazy, Kobe won without Shaq, Jordan couldn't do that without Pippen, Kobe is more skilled at basketball than Jordan is, Kobe took Jordan's moves that Jordan stole from other great NBA players and just made them better, and Jordan knows he got lucky with Magic Johnson falsely got diagnosed with hiv, Jordan knows he wouldn't have them six rings.
      Jordan and LeBron fans are the worst fans ever, but I will say,, Kobe North Jordan ever beg for respect, like LeBron does🤡

      Kobe's footwork was different than LeBron's, especially in terms of the effectiveness of the type of shots they each took and specialized in. What ultimately matters when discussing a skill like "footwork" is not what it looks like or how aesthetic it seems to the bare eye, but its EFFECTIVENESS and efficiency in scoring the basket. If fancy footwork leads to less efficient baskets, then is the fanciness of the footwork more valuable than its translation into a successful shot?

      I get what you're saying, and LeBron plays point a lot, and he has played more games, which also adds to more opportunities to turn the ball over. @64mali714

      I have kobe 1a, Jordan 1b. It's really close between the 2. Actually it's really fractions. True shooting percentage, kobe 55%, Jordan, 56% Win loss regular season, jordan 706 - 366, .659 win %
      Win loss regular season, kobe 701 - 356, .663 win % Post season, jordan 119 - 60 Post season, kobe 126 -72
      Against 50 win teams in the playoffs Jordan- 20-7 Kobe- 25 - 10. Faced the most in playoff history.
      Number of playoff games against sub 100 DRTG teams among perimeter players in modern era Jordan - 6 Kobe - 65
      Average SRS (competition during a title run) Jordan - 15.41 Kobe - 18.86
      Total points and assists Jordan - 32,292 pts, 5633 assists. Kobe - 33,643 pts, 6303 assists.
      Jordan played against man to man defense. Kobe played against zone defense, also used ISO.
      Championships Jordan- 6-0. Kobe 5-2.
      Era
      Jordan won during the expansion decade. This was weaker Era compared to the 80s, 2000s. The defense wasn't as good as some might remember. All you have to do is do a TH-cam search on exposing 90s defense. Kobe played in arguably the toughest Era in history, in the toughest conference. Tougher teams, tougher defense, tougher competition. Kobe won without shaq, Jordan never won without pippen. Also in the 90s the bulls were always the favorite to win. He had a stacked team. Kobe had to fight to the nail to win. And Shaq never carried kobe.

    05-08 kobe was insane. Kobe improved his skills more than Jordan because he had to. He didn’t have Jordan’s athleticism and large hands. With their style of play, it was very risky to play because it was very obvious if they didn’t play well you can easily blame them.
    The problem I have with lebron (which is probably a good thing) is that his style of play really makes it hard to blame him for anything. His team will loose but you’ll look at stats and can’t blame him so you blame the teammates. When they win you look at levrons stats are like exactly the same even when he looses so then he gets the credit…. It’s a win win for him. I think that’s why Kobe always tried to taunt him early in lebrons career to take the last shot, because it forces you to take some form of blame

The just to it is that I seen kobe do things like the 81 point game. Where he did it on purpose. Like the last game they played Boston for the title. Kobe points sucked. But he had a lot of rebounds. Each game in that series was won by rebounds. They both was down they starting center. That's goat status. No to mention his last game. He did it cause shaq ask him to do it for him and he delivered. The 81 point game was the first time his grand mother ever came to any of his professional games. That's🥶

      Let me help you break it down then..
      Kobe was more skilled version of Mj while Mj was 2% more efficient in scoring but let’s talk about it..
      Kobe did everything MJ but a bit better except one thing
      Ball handling, Kobe had much better ball handling skills than Mj.
      Kobe mastered the footwork, Hakeem said Kobe had the best footwork he’s ever seen. Meanwhile Hakeem teaches footwork. Said Kobe asked him to show him some things and Hakeem told him “there’s nothing I could show him that he hasn’t already displayed” Kobe was a better shot created, difficult shot maker, they both were great mid range shooter with guys all over them but Kobe could shoot the 3 ball. He was a threat on more areas on the court than MJ was, defense? Ok MJ has 1 defensive player award I give him that but..Kobe has 9 first team defenses made and 12 overall.. that’s an NBA record so he was just as good as MJ on defense and he never had a defender like pippen to Gaurd the opposing teams best player. Kobe always had to Gaurd the best player even if they were a point Gaurd, SG or Small Forward. He’s had to Gaurd quick 6ft killers like Iverson and tall 6’9 players like Tmac

Also , as MJ got older , he became far more surgical then Kobe.. MJ never waisted steps .Kobe’s made reference to that several times over the years.. Kobe was a better 3 point shooter then MJ ( to be fair to both of them tho, there wasn’t nearly the emphasis on the 3 pointer when they played.. Mike was a better Mid range shooter .. The two years including the one where Kobe got MVP, is the peak in terms of defensive era. That is what caused the NBA to just completely abandon defense. Scoring was at an all-time low include all the offensive metrics like number of possessions, etc. Oh and by the way, the 40+ scoring streak, 81 pts game, and 60 in 3 quarter vs best defensive team also happened during this low era.
    Correction: I would not call it peak defensive era, more accurately is that those few years were the worst for scoring in NBA history.

Climbed back to the top of the mountain and won 2 more. You also have to consider how ridiculous his numbers would have been if he never played with Shaq for 7 years. His numbers would probably have surpassed MJ's.

    This is why debating with Jordan fans is annoying at times and redundant, 6 rings is their argument for him being number one to them but in the same breath they disregard Bill Russell’s 11 rings saying the era was different so it was easy for him but god forbid you say the same exact thing about Mike’s era and how it was easy for him when being compared to others like Lebron or Kobe. Todays era is filled with far more skilled players as a whole and the game itself is more difficult from a skill perspective because majority of the league has players equipped with the skill to score in bunches and make defensive plays whether starter or rotation player.

    • @gumballwaterson1957
      @gumballwaterson1957 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Honestly, if someone wanted to use just rings, Bill Russell is the only player you could clearly put above MJ. Everyone else it's easy to see why they're not #1. That puts his floor at #2 without considering anything else involving basketball that doesn't include rings.
      As far as the argument Mike's era was weak the current one is strong and filled with skilled players, it's pretty easy to refute that especially for Lebron and Kobe. For skills, the NBA itself has said over and over it's changed rules to make scoring easier for wing players. They changed the rules and surprise surprise, more wing players started being the best players in the league. A lot of offensive moves today were just straight illegal in MJ's era and before. It's like arguing And1 players were more skilled than NBA players when And1 was having their heyday. No, they weren't more skilled, they just didn't have the same rules. When they went under NBA rules, they didn't do shit. I won't argue the 3, but it's not a shock that once the NBA started making sure 3pt shooters got landing space we all of a sudden got this explosion of 3s from everyone.
      For competition, gotta let that one go too. The winners from most of Kobe/Lebron's era played at the tail end of MJ's era and they weren't bringing any smoke. There was no sudden overthrow of MJ and Bulls with new era talent. Shaq and Co. got worked by MJ and Bulls even when Shaq had a squad. Duncan and squad won while young and old across both Kobe/Bron's era. Shaq started the era and won while old with Wade. Dirk beat Bron directly when old with a lesser talented squad. Somehow today's players are more skilled and competition harder, but 38 y/o Duncan giving them work like he'd been doing his whole career? 33 y/o Dirk working more skilled KD and Westbrook and prime Bron and Wade? If this era is more skilled, how come during most of Kobe/Bron's era, their biggest competition was from older players (many of whom actually played against MJ)?

      @@gumballwaterson1957 You can easily name rotation players from today who are better than starters from MJs era…easily. You cannot even name 5 reputable rivals of his at his position who played in the league during his time who were actually really good competition. When he played Shaq, Shaq was very young and a far smaller/slimmer version of who he eventually formed to be during his dominant years. Tim Duncan wasn’t 38 doing anything to anyone in the league…at all…he also isn’t from MJs era, he came into the league the year before Mike retired. Dirk wasn’t old when he won, he also didn’t have a lesser talented roster when he won, Miami’s roster during the first year was a bunch of old cheap veterans alongside 3 young stars. The skilled players come in bunches and play each other on a nightly basis therefor the competition is spread out throughout the league and not just sprinkled here and there with one player being able to dominate because he plays for the best team in the league(who still made it to the finals without him). No matter what you say about the previous era, nothing they hold onto or we’re doing back then took an immense amount of skill especially defensively when all they did was foul and fight, no real skill involved. What rules were changed specifically for wing players? You’re just making things up, i can provide you with the entire list of rule changes that have been made in the league and none make todays league easier than prior or specifically easier to score. A 3 point shooter simply having feet space to land properly does not prevent shots from being contested nor blocked, it makes it harder which requires more SKILL and proper positioning and timing to contest or block the shot without fouling. Not being able to grab someone and hold them requires more SKILL due to having to get to a spot before the handler to prevent them from progressing towards the basket. Not being able to stand still in the paint to block shots requires more SKILL due to the rim protector having to rotate and constantly move to not only check his man but be aware of other players driving as well. Here’s a list of the rule changes you claim helped make things “easier” for the era after MJ as well as some from his era…nothing is missing btw.
      * 1984 - The 2-3-2 Finals format adopted, changing from 2-2-1-1-1 format
      * 1988 - Number of referees permanently increased from two to three
      * 1992 - Shot clock is reset only when ball hits the rim (previously it was reset if ball hit either the rim or backboard)
      * 1994 - Three shots awarded for foul on 3-point attempt
      * 1994 - 3-point line shortened to a uniform 22 feet around the basket
      * 1997 - 3-point line lengthened to original 23 feet, 9 inches, except in the corners where the distance remained at 22 feet
      * 1997 - A “no-charge” area established with a half circle with a 4-foot radius measured from middle of goal
      * 2000 - Timeouts increased from six to seven, fourth-period timeouts increased from three to four
      * 2001 - Illegal defense eliminated and zone defense allowed. Defensive 3-second rule prohibits defensive player from being in lane without guarding offensive player
      * 2001 - The time to advance ball past midcourt reduced from 10 seconds to 8 seconds
      * 2002 - Instant replay implemented for review of certain last-second plays
      * 2007-15 - Expansion of instant replay every year except 2010-11
      * 2017 - Timeouts reduced from nine to seven per team per game with no more than two after the 3-minute mark of the fourth quarter
      * 2018 - Shot clock reset to 14 after an offensive rebound rather than 24

    • @gumballwaterson1957

      @@VitaminJay Nostalgia isn't holding me back from anything. "Weak" vs. "Strong" eras and "skilled" vs. "unskilled" actually takes some intellectual processing. I'd argue that the only time period one could objectively say is "weak" is the 70s because the top talent was split between the ABA and NBA. And it was clearly split because ABA players came directly into the NBA and won and were consistently top players in both leagues. I don't think there's a strong argument against that.
      "Easily name 5 starters from today..." so? Based on what? Mike's era had rules that placed much more emphasis on strength in the interior. I could easily name starters today that are equal to or worse than rotation players back then simply because the style and rules. It's also factually true that some feats seen as "skill" today are simply rule violations in Mike's time. Just like Dikembe Mutombo was a "skilled" defender for his time by taking advantage of the no 3s defensive rules (or to a stronger degree Mark Eaton), Mutumbo and Eaton probably would be worse than many current rotation players for today's game.
      "...5 reputable rivals of his at his time..." You're right. I could not name 5 SGs that were on Mike's level. I also can't name 5 shooting guards in the history of the NBA that I would consider Mike's "rivals". Maybe your definition is different than mine, but there are maybe 4 SGs in history who've had individual seasons that have rivaled Mike's let alone extended lengths of time or careers.
      "Dirk wasn't old..." Dirk was 33 when he won. If that's not considered old to you, you have a different definition of "old" than most NBA fans, historians, and players. If you really want to say Dallas had comparable talent to Miami and the series was expected to be close, then we fundamentally don't see basketball the same at all. Next you'll tell me Miami had more talent than all their opponents this year too.
      In '13 &'14, Duncan was anywhere from 1st-3rd best player on teams that went to the finals. He load managed a ton, but production-wise, was still one of the better/best PFs in the league. I'll concede that he wasn't doing much in his last 2 years, but 14 and 9 at 38 on a team with Lamarcus Aldridge isn't all that bad.
      "...nothing they were doing...took an immense amount of skill". No, that "skill" was just less obvious than today or skills you don't/didn't like. Bob Cousy doesn't have dribbling skills compared to pretty much who's picked up a basketball in the last 25 years for the simple reason the rules were strict about the hand being on top of the ball. Player's "skills" adapt to whatever rules and just cause you can't recognize that doesn't mean it's not skill. You won't get any argument from me whatsoever about today's players being better 3pt shooters compared to any era. But guess what, if you took any 3pt specialist and instantly placed him in 1975, his shooting "skill" wouldn't mean much cause he'd just be a low shot percentage shooter.
      Your argument about the difficulty in guarding a 3pt shooter works all types of ways. If it's harder to play defense because of the rules and that results in more skill being needed, then the exact opposite can be said when rules did not favor the offense. Harder to shoot a 3 when someone can hand check you or slide under your feet (using your logic). Does that mean offensive players are less skilled now than before? Since rules made it easier for offense, does that mean offenses are less skilled? Skill adapts to rules. Period.
      Your list of rule changes is so incomplete I'm not going to spend time addressing it. It also doesn't include the most important part which is interpretation of the rules and "emphasis" that refs are given or using throughout the season. The "gather" step didn't exist officially in the rule book until maybe a half decade ago. 2 steps and a shot has evolved in interpretation for the entirety of NBA history.
      I don't mind learning ball. I watch ball. I understand ball before I speak also. Disagreement is pretty normal even amongst HOF coaches (Phil Jackson vs. pretty much all of the modern NBA). Apply your advice to me to yourself.
