Same here. Im from Howard Beach Queens. In the 80's-90's we weren't only known as the most Cosa Nosa members living on the same neighborhood at one time in the America it was known for killing non whites who even tried to come into the neighborhood so for Me a huge Hip Hop head I had to order every single and album special until the whole neighborhood got into it also into around 95 the dudes who worked in the store spent the next 25 years thanking me for putting them onto all the music too. Anyway recording Yo at least once a week then constantly rebumpin it was the Thing to, as well as Video music box!

Im from Cali. Graduated HS in 95. I never even went to NY until I was in my 30's mainly because of the East vs West "Beef" but oddly enough when I finally went to Brooklyn it felt just like back home. 2 of the greatest artist of all time RIP. We owe it to ourselves to put together what "They" tore apart. The powers that be took that opportunity to divide a nation of young black ppl who were unifying through music. Literally 20 yrs later, still talked about like it was yesterday. ✌🏾❤️‍🩹 #Time2Heal

Black people have been robbing and murdering each other long before rap.
It's time yall stop blaming everyone else and take responsibility for your own actions. That's what a real man does.
A lot of yall are grown but still sit around crying like babies blaming all your problems on the white man. Its pathetic and yall should be embarrassed.

Well, let’s put it like this.
After Pac got shot, Bad Boy/Live Squad were hanging and/or attending events from the one who called the shots on Pac.
Not to mention how he was connected to other NY rappers at the moment.
Now, Biggie & Puffy did their part for the problem to escalate like it did.
And that was just Death Row & Bad Boy beefing, now other NY MC’s did throw some slick lines on their records directed at Pac and not Death Row, so it was something going on that most of people forget to mention when this topic comes out.
Now, remember that Suge’s homie got killer in that JD Party and he blamed Puffy for it.

And when Pac got killed in Vegas he messed with the wrong people when they jumped Orlando Anderson. How the police did not put 2 and 2 together is beyond me. And, just because the police were not doing their job BiG got killed. Your last few sentences really hit it on the head for me. I was only in the third grade when they both died and I remember when "Missing You" was all over the charts after BIG's murder. That whole period just seemed so dark and eerie and it turned ME off of hip-hop for a while myself, but I remember it being damn near impossible to escape. (being a kid who obviously only has so much say over the radio also didn't help). Everywhere you turned the media was talking about these two tragedies or it was their music on repeat. Every fucking car that drove by, every business you walked into, every cookout: BIG or Pac. I remember subsequent records from other artists got a little darker too around that time. Shit was lowkey eerie for a minute. From the point of view of a child, hip-hop went from being this fun funky music to some shit that the actual stars themselves were dying over. It took almost until I was high school for me to really come back around to hip-hop voluntarily.

Pac said Jimmy Hecnhman. Pac crew told Pac that's not someone you play with, we better strap up. Which is why Pac had his gun on him going to the studio that night. They went to quad and Jimmy goons were waiting on him. Which is exactly what Clark Kent meant, when he said Pac knew Biggie had nothing to do with it, and that Pac lied! Now you will have Pac fans scream about how Pac never said Big set him up, but that he was mad that Big didn't tell him where it came from? Why the hell does Big have to tell you where it came from when you already knew!!! When Big tried to tell Pac the first time to watch out for the cats he was running with because they from his borough of Brooklyn and everyone knows how they get down. Hell even Mike Tyson told him the same shit. We all know Pac was a hot head and hard headed and he refused to listen. Know one never talks about how Pac went back and told Jimmy Henchman and Jack that Big warned him about hanging with them. What happens a few weeks later? Big gets robbed by Jimmy goons, so in reality Pac got Big lined up, when Big was doing what any real friend would do. Then after Pac gets shot, he wants to act like Big ain't warn him. Then he wants to blame Big for how shit went down, come on man stop it. If you my man and from outta and town and you don't know how cats move in the city that you hanging with and I give you a heads up on some shit and you don't wanna listen to what I'm telling you, and some shit ends up popping of! You know dam well if that was you, you would’ve thought it was about you too even if it wasn’t about pac , hella bad timing bro really bad timing and if puffy‘s bodyguard is lying why doesn’t he ever say anything about it? It’s been so many years he even talks about how puffy got biggie, murdered, do your research bro it’s all out there. But to each its own I’m not going to waste my time responding anymore.

As a LA dude, Biggie's death was the saddest moment in the history of the culture. Mind you, I was at the Fresh Fest in 86 when LB Insanes tore up the venue; the beef between Cube and NWA; death of JMJ; Big Pun; and Tupac. As Jeru said, Big was Hip Hop.

I'm nine months late, but I have to correct Ed Lover here. Biggie was invisible outside of NY, before 94. By 94, Pac was already widely known throughout the world. Maybe not strictly for his music, but he was a more recognisable name a few years before Biggie. There was never a time where Biggie was bigger than Pac. Not when they were alive and certainly not after they passed.

  • @MusicMakesAdiff23

These dudes have terrible memory smh pac was already a global phenomenon!! He dropped 3 albums before big dropped his first one. He did 3 movies before big droped his first album. PAC was global. He was the top selling rapper. He was outselling LL cool J..stop all this disgusting behavior man smh non bias. I’m from Ny, biggie was never as big as PAC. Pac was going platinum in two weeks. It took big 3 months to go platinum. These are facts man. Sorry but pac put big on before puff! He gave big his first show. Let him open up for him on the strictly for my ninjas tour.. disappointed in Ed lover man. If you don’t remember just say you don’t remember. There’s stories from more valid ppl than Ed they say puff got pac killed. The streets n body guards say it. Those murders are 100% connected. N snoop did a whole video knocking down the train towers in the heat of the beef which aired after the source awards. Snoop diss Ny n then tucked his tail.

Hopefully all the NY and Biggie haters in the comments send u a nice post card for being "non bias" 🤡
All jokes aside ur just wrong - Pac had two albums out before Ready to Die and neither were doing large numbers internationally. Matter fact Thug life vol 1 came out later the same month as ready to die and didn't sell as well as Bigs first album. So all this global phenom and top selling rapper talk is bullshit. Pac was doing shows paying niggas $50 dollars a night, he was in no position to put anybody on
Also Big was signed to Uptown records in 1992 under Puffy and Pac had nothing to do with that. So how did Pac put Big on again?

I'm from Southern California and I remember this west/east coast beef vividly. I agree that the media had a lot to do with the hype but the egos between artists were wild too. I remember Pac's song that which he mentioned he slept with Faith Evans and the look-alike he had in his video. Crazy and sad time back then and senseless to lose 2 great and talented rappers.
