Love it when you’re in the booth at the ppa events. You are so much more insightful and entertaining than the normal commentators. Hope they have you back more often!
I appreciate that!
Totally agree.
Agreed. Other commentators pale by comparison, more please!
Well, you continue to have the best graphics of YT pickleballers. I liked that string of "pattern recognition" examples. I think you should expand that and do a full video on like the top 10 or 20 patterns in pickleball.
Oo that's a good idea!
Thanks for the kind words as well!
I was going to reply with the exact same comment.
@@vipuljain2833 I'm actually building an online pickleball school. I think i'll include a
"Pattern recognition database."
I"ve been "collecting" patterns for a long time. And think it'd be cool to have them all in once place. Gosh, there's so many!
Really great video. Production quality has taken another step forward. Would love to see you break down some matches and talk about some of the less common patterns
Thanks for noticing that, my team is awesome!
Any chess/pickleball player has had these thoughts so many times. Its amazing how much they correlate. Thanks for putting it into a video!... "Checkmate!" is going to be my new catchphrase when I pull someone out of position. Ha.
Exactly what I was thinking!!
I love it!!
Dude, BY FAR, you are my favorite pickleball content creator. Suuuper informative, easy to follow, great animations and music. As a chess and tennis player turned pickleball player, I have to say that you hit this on the head!
Thanks for the compliments! Glad the videos are helpful!
I know nothing about chess. But these were GREAT pickleball concepts! You are a talented instructor, Kyle! So easy to understand.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loved this video as a person who plays chess (and poker) - trying to think multiple moves ahead of your opponent is a gamechanger!
Awesome!
Have to admit, I hate sharing your videos. If they haven't found you by now, that's on them.

One of your best, tactical videos Kyle. Thanks for taking the time to . . . strategize this video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Bravo!!
This is great!!
Thanks for watching!!
Incredible content....thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love this analogy! Perfect 👍🏼
Glad it helped!
Been looking for a tutorial like this for-ever!! BIG THX. So On The Money.....Love the tip to serve deep & wide to pull opponent out of line...and changing up serve. Your stuff is the most valuable coaching on the net.
Thank you!!
Great video, love the tips. Anticipation is also underrated.
Thanks for watching!
Outstanding video
Love it.
Thank you very much!
This is the best 3.5 video I've ever seen. Clear, concise, wonderful examples. Am sharing with my group.
Glad it was helpful!
Great content and insights as usual, thanks Kyle!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and analogy!!
Glad it helped!
Man, I got so many good nuggets from this video. Very insightful stuff and enjoyed the breakdown. Keep up the good work.
Glad it helped!
great stuff! Thank you very much.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Fantastic video!!!
When in a match that really matters, I just keep telling myself, “Play my game, play my game!” I don’t let myself get sucked into the hard banging aggressive game! Like Ben Johns, I work my way to the kitchen, move my opponents around, try to pull them out of position causing them to overreach and force an error for an easy put-away.
Especially love attacking the left side players backhand.
I LOVE THIS CHANNEL!
Thanks for watching. Glad the content is helpful!
Outstanding! As good as the Johns brothers are technically they often win because they are better strategically. They see the game, then adjust the game (the patterns) to their advantage.
Great analogy my man!
Glad you think so!
Terrific content and pro-level production value. Very, very nice !!!
Glad you enjoy it!
very good. alot to remember!!
This is the best video on TH-cam! I'm a chess player first and recently a pickleball player. Awesome content!
Awesome!! Glad it helped!!
Well done on the chess analogy. Great video.
Thanks!
As someone who loves chess, and has only gotten into pickleball recently, this was a nice videos to watch! As a side note, it seems like you know quite about chess as well!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Kyle: Really excellent instructional motivator. Content was a reminder of the strategy necessary to play better PB. Thank you and keep them coming.
Thanks for watching!!
i never regret to sign up! this is 🔥
Glad you enjoyed it!
Heck yeah I'm all for this nerdy content!!
Great video ❤
Glad you liked it!!
that poetic quote was great. All pros look super calm and composed while playing and I've tried adapting that feeling and it's helped. It's hard to get out of your head sometimes while playing
Couldn't agree more!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
this video is INCREDIBLE.
Thanks for watching!!
Fantastic video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the chess analogy. In terms of recognizing patterns, how long or how much do you need to play to start to see these? Playing 90 min once a week vs playing 5 times a week for 30 min. etc.. I think it would be helpful to understand the milestones of getting better both in play time, practice time and watching videos like yours.
Great question. Short answer, I don't know.
Longer answer. I think 5 times at 30 minute vs. 90 minutes once a week.
I'm still exploring this question because i'm almost three years in, and just started thinking about patterns about 5 months ago.
However, I'm teaching my 4.0 - 4.5 friends who I play with about them, and they're picking them up fine!
I just didn't have anyone teaching me back then.
So to make a long answer longer, I don't know the time it takes.
But the process I use is.
1. discover a pattern naturally through rec play.
2. See if I can find it in happening in other pro matches on youtube
3. When I find it, watch it 20x and notice everything about that pattern.
4. See if I can improve it the next time I play in rec and use that recognition ability to my advantage.
After watching your video, I sent this to a bunch of my friends and students with the caption; "Great video"!
Thanks for sharing!
Great graphics! Who do you have editing your videos?
Glad you think so! Our editor does a great job!
The bong cloud opening is my favorite chess opening
Sign me up! You’re the best. Great video. Strategy is key.
Glad it was helpful!
As a serious chessplayer (for over 50 years) and semi-serious pickleball player, I found these analogies really interesting. Impressed that you know who Carlsen, Kasparov, Judith Polgar and Petrosian are!
Thanks for watching!
I did research :)
Video quality 👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
People that play chess will definitely understand and appreciate this content. Good stuff...
Thanks!
Let’s gooooooooo 🎉
As one who loves both chess and pickleball, this may be my all-time favorite tutorial. I only wish I were good enough, whether in chess or pickleball, to apply its wisdom into my games.
Glad you enjoyed it! You can do it!
I often teach, "the kitchen is where the strategy is".
It's very much like a chess match or football, where you have sides going between offense and defense, and waiting for your opponent to make a mistake....😊
Good video.
thanks. Well said!
Great video, but I think you missed the most important tip of all: (I played tournament Chess for decades)
Don't attack from a weak position! That's the main problem with "Bangers". Sure, hitting a power shot is great when you have an opening to hit to or when your opponents are off balance or out of position, but hitting a drive when your opponents are waiting for it at the Kitchen line is a bad idea (assuming your opponents are reasonably good players.) Wait until your position is better than your opponents' in some exploitable way before going for the kill.
Thanks for the insight! I'll have to add that in if I ever make a part 2 to this video!
This makes so much sense and why when I first started playing more experienced players early on they would constantly say I was playing Checkers while they were playing Chess!
Haha now you’ll be playing chess with them!
I am thinking about pickleball specific strength training - what are you doing in that area?
I do all of “knees over toes guys” stuff
I'm a chess master and pickleball player. My chess ability definitely helps my pickleball. This video is excellent, some really good tips, but has some chess related errors
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jazzin' the Court: A Pickleball Poem
In the world of sports, where games collide,
There's a place where strategy takes a ride.
Kyle Koszuta, with wisdom untold,
Guides us through the pickleball fold.
Positional Awareness, the first to know,
Court control, a strategic flow.
Like chess, we dance with every shot,
In the game of pickle, we call the spot.
The Opening, a grand display,
Deep serves and wide, in a calculated way.
Keep 'em back, create that space,
Set the stage for a winning chase.
Pattern Recognition, a player's delight,
Reading the game, like day and night.
From dinks to drives, each move a clue,
In the rhythm of play, we find our true.
End Game Expertise, a master's art,
Plotting victory, from the very start.
Tactics honed, with every drill,
In the final moments, we seize our fill.
Know Yourself, the final key,
In the game of pickle, we set ourselves free.
Are you aggressive like Anna Leigh Waters,
Or patient and poised, like Ben Johns, the supporters?
Magnus Carlsen, a chess grandmaster's name,
In pattern recognition, he found his fame.
In pickleball, the same holds true,
Know thyself, and victory will ensue.
So here's to the game, where strategy reigns,
Where Kyle Koszuta's wisdom sustains.
In the jazz of the court, we find our groove,
In pickleball and chess, we truly prove.
With paddle in hand, and strategy in mind,
We step to the court, leaving doubts behind.
For in each move, we hear the jazz,
A symphony of strategy, in every pass.
From Positional Awareness to End Game Expertise,
We navigate the court with finesse and ease.
Like a chessboard come to life, we make our play,
In the world of pickleball, where champions sway.
So let's embrace the rhythm, let's dance the beat,
With every shot, with every fleet feet.
For in the game of pickle, as in jazz's sway,
It's the strategic brilliance that wins the day.
Wow! Awesome!
"Peanut butter... and jam" Rook ie mistake. 😉
Pickleball is America's fastest-growing sport and we like it #Pickleball
This was not good, as that would be disrespectful of the overall quality. It's only appropriate to call this video great. Thanks Kyle, for the time and creative effort!!
Wow. Thank you for the kind words.
Glad it was helpful!
Peanut butter and… ladies
Do you play chess?
Just occasionally!
Know yo self! lol most likely a typo
Or was it? 😉
Did notice that difference was a typo in one of the early graphics, but the excellence of the content wins out... Great stuff Kyle and I'll bet you'd rather be PLAYING than ANNOUNCING PPA events, right???
@@thatpickleballguy great content i shared it
