Of all the pros and non-pro TH-camrs out there, these are the best. Informative, edited, & produced at a cut above all the others out there. Keep it up!
Kyle, you have a gift for video instruction. You break everything down into the the most critical elements, making the concepts easy to understand. Your gift of humor is an added layer, making learning fun! Best in your pro career, but you are #1 in instructional videos! Thanks, enjoy your channel enormously.
Something that I love about this channel is that Kyle is easy to understand and gives actionable instructions to improve skills. The graphics that go with the video always complement the video really well and add a fun element to it.
Omg! You fell through the court to the center of the earth! Cool graphics! I learn so much from your entertaining and informative videos. You’re an excellent instructor with such a natural and fun delivery. Thank you and keep the videos coming. You’ve set the instructional video bar really high!
Kyle. This video is one of, if not your absolute, best. First the content is ultra-important, the delivery is perfect, mixing the message with the fun stuff you do best. Also the graphics, animation and special effects are fantastic. Your editor is so imaginative and very talented. Making you disappear into the "black hole" is genius. You are one of the best "TH-cam" instructors out there, so keep these great fun and informative videos coming. 👍
Great stuff! Thanks for the helpful info. Amazing that so much strategy goes so far into the point, but it's absolutely true that there's a lot to decide on that 4th shot and not much time to do it. Good job!
Whoever does your clever animations is a genius! I was laughing out loud this morning watching it! These videos are so fun to watch plus I’m learning so much! Keep up the great work and many kudos to your graphics guy!
I have been watching your videos for a while now on and off. I love all the info, and your love for the game really shines, but that black whole cracked me up today!!
This is the best pickle tutoring video I've ever seen. I will admit I'm a little bias because that at-the-kitchen reach shot pop-up is something I need to fix!!! Nice job!
This was for sure the best pickleball strategy video I’ve seen! Plus you totally upped the editing… it was awesome! Been following you from the beginning! I actually sent you an email to your “what is a pro” blog from long ago. Stoked you’re where you’re at! 💪🏽💪🏽
Some really good stuff in there. Thanks. Especially liked the choice of taking the highest ball option between taking it out of the air in the kitchen or letting it bounce. But then you show off and hit two balls that are only 12" off the ground out of the air in the kitchen for great topspin shots, haha. I can't quite do that. So I'll stick to the earlier advice rather than assume I can copy your technique at the end. Thanks again.
I love the section about taking balls out of the air vs letting them bounce. I'm a player who takes everything out of the air and I often end up popping up those low balls and doing nothing productive.
Nice well done video! I think you could talk about the roll volley because you actually use it three times to reach in and hit low balls over the net with pace during the "three chances" segment. Whereas in the instructional part, you really only talk about popping it up with a reach or taking a step back to hit it off the bounce. Option 3: Roll volley to hit a low ball over with topspin and pace to maintain your +1 or 2 advantage.
yes, I could have done more with this for sure. I debated doing a longer segment on it, but then decided I'd do a more in depth video on just that shot sometime soon!
Great video. I play indoors and with 2 at the kitchen and both opponents back, they commonly hit a lob to our baseline. By the time one runs back to get the lob, they have reached the kitchen. Tough problem. I find the best solution is to lob in back. I find players good at lobs are not so good at returning lobs.
Oh my GOSH!! Your videos are great, & your crazy fun personality always cracks me up!! 😄. SO so entertaining! Thank you for all your time & energy you put into your very helpful videos!
I agree! THere is an account on instagram, "RealClearStats" who is actually compiling tons of data. I just made a video on Returns where I share some of the data (just a snippet) that is informative. That video will come out in the next few weeks! I agree, more data on this would be good. It's coming!
Dude I literally just did the whole “reach for a 4th to take it out of the air” and I got it but I popped it up a little too much.. and are the slam 😳 good video and great advice man 😊
OK, I want to know how you manage to survive your on-court mishaps. Lucky for you your video graphics help to cover up your mishits. Love your videos. I have saved them for review hopefully I'll get better.
I like the hole in the kitchen that you almost fell into that's hysterical. I have such angst about moving up. I like to stay back and I know that's bad. I've gotta get up to the kitchen.
Hye, Kyle! I love your stuff. Great video. Don't throw any shots away! Think about all of them!! At 9:54, is that a kitchen violation? Just hoping to understand the rules better.
Hey PickleBallGuy! Can you recommend some paddles at different price points? (Avoid the cheap sets… bought a set of 4 from Walmart or Target and they all exploded on the same day)
Typing this on a plane right now, HA! So internet is slow, otherwise, I'd get you the link. But I'm a fan of the Halo from Selkirk. I use the 002 from selkirk. Have been messing around a bit more with the power air from selkirk! if you end up buying anything off selkirk.com , use my code ADV-thatpickleballguy It won't give you an upfront discount but if you decide to buy from selkirk again, you'll have a gift card credit so you'll save some dollars. !
If two players are stuck back I think down the middle is the play. It doesn't just cause confusion but squeezes both players so that if they get the ball back you have an easier angled put-away.
Laughing while learning great stuff. What could be better? Besides my shoes. My shoes could be better. If you don't mind, what model Asics are you wearing?
The best strategy i learned was hitting the ball behind the player moving towards the middle to possibly poach. I see that happen a lot when playing good players, & it throws me off
I'm at a weird point where I'm at this "wall" where I feel like I'm not progressing. And I damn sure can't "finesse" the paddle. It's like I'm always holding it tight as a baseball bat.
There are drills to fix just about any problem with your game, you just have to identify the issues. Take a video of your next game and watch for your mistakes. If you are having trouble identifying them, ask a friend or a professional to look for you. Once you know that your serve is too short and your motion on your backhand causes you to pop the ball up, you can drill to fix the problems. It is not easy, and it is not fast, but if you drill on what you don't do well, you will improve.
Hope you enjoyed this video! To go a step further, challenge yourself & take ThatPickleball IQ Test to see how well you really know the game.

Loved the video and what it taught. I forgive some of the NVZ foot faults in the demo, but that helped me improve my referee observation skills. LOL

Great editing here - Kyle down the drain in the kitchen was priceless!
Great animation; great for beginners and always remember to be aware of what the other players are up to.
Thanks!
And which part would you say it subjective?
Sorry, poorly worded. I was thinking in terms of subject to (what the other team is doing) vs subjective/objective Thanks for the great content!
good stuff!!!
Which paddle do you use, are they good for new players?
Loving the vids
Thanks for watching! I use Selkirk paddles. You can find a code for a digital gift card in the description of the video!
I like the hole in the kitchen that you almost fell into that's hysterical. I have such angst about moving up. I like to stay back and I know that's bad. I've gotta get up to the kitchen.
Get to the kitchen! You'll improve over time :)
Kyle, you are the best!
Thank you for the compliment!
Are you playing at Tempe az kind sir?

Stepping into the kitchen after a volley...followed by the black hole: SO creative & hilarious 😂

Always awesome animations! Great vids... love it when you fall through the kitchen ;-)

On their second chance at 5 bucks, you totally had your foot on the kitchen line … twice!

NICE JOB
So good

The best strategy i learned was hitting the ball behind the player moving towards the middle to possibly poach. I see that happen a lot when playing good players, & it throws me off
