      I took this car for an extended test drive a about a week ago. I absolutely love the interior, no complaints there, especially the new track apps available. My only real complaints are the engine note and that new IRS just cannot handle the GTs power of the line. Wheel hop is a real problem if you're going for a hard launch. That said I was on the fence about the looks until I saw it in person and fell in love with it. This car is an entirely different animal compared to outgoing mustangs.

    Picked up my '15 Deep Impact Blue Premium GT w/ PP last Wednesday, and I already put 1,200 miles on her. I'm madly in love! Drove up to Nashville to visit my sister and brother-in-law, and to say that she's a head turner is an understatement. I was breaking necks all over the place! Lol I got many compliments saying, "that is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen in my life." Now that just reassures you that your purchase was the right one.
    Great review, Justin! Time to get to work on that exhaust upgrade :)

      ***** glad to hear that you love your new S550! DIB is a great color on the new body style. Definitely make sure that you head to our site and check out the cold air intake, wheels and axle-back exhaust sections where we're giving away a Flowmaster Axleback Exhaust, Forgestar Wheels and C&L Performance Cold Air Intake and Bama Tuner! Please make sure to hit us up if there's anything you need. We're excited to mod ours and it sounds like you'll be hearing the growl of a new exhaust soon! -Chris

      Gotta call BS on this Deven, from all the negative remarks we heard when driving one for a week, I HIGHLY doubt anyone said it was the best looking car they've ever seen. People laughed and called it all kinds of things like poor mans Jag etc..., virtually zero compliments.

    Now this is a great review! It was detailed, not too long, and hit on all the important parts of the car. This is definitely one of my favorite Mustangs to date. The interior really does look to be more high quality.

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, thanks for the kind words JonWarAll! Its really hard because I could probably talk about the car and all of its features for an hour, but its all about squeezing in the important bits without getting boring. If I had any complaints about this review its that the weather really prohibited us from getting more badass driving shots. But overall I'm happy with the outcome and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks again! -Justin

      @theJW55 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      AmericanMuscle.com Justin, I also think that this was a fine review. You clearly have a very deep and insightful understanding of 'Stangs. If you did talk about the 2015 in much more detail in a review of, say, 20 or 30 minutes (or more!), I think that would be fantastic and very helpful. My first car was a '71 Mustang, and I am thinking of springing for the '15 GT.

    I think the black wheels really make the car. Without it doesn't have that rough look. The front is good, the sides with those sculpted lines imo is the best part. The rear looks a bit bland. I do love the fact that its shorter and wider. It looks more muscular longitudinally.
    I just hope they go nuts with the future Shelby versions. I really want them to look as aggressive and attractive as the 13'-14' gt500. The 14' gt500 was so good looking I cry every time I see it in person.

    I recently got a 2014 ft track package manual. I wanted a 2015 but I didn't want a first year new model car, paying wayyyy over msrp and knowing they are going to upgrade the engine in a couple years I went with the 14 and I love it. Will upgrade when the new engine comes but I'more than happy saving the money and having my s197 beauty. Got her for 27k out the door.

    I'm really not sold on the 2015 I've seen the track times and also noticed how the 2014 beat the 15 down the track.i do like the fast back design on rear.
    I have the 2010 and the 2014 5.0
    I'm thinking about keeping my 14 and wait on the 16.

    Saw one today, and that was the first I ever thought a modern mustang looked good. More aggresive styling that actually does not make it look like a boat. I am not a fan of drag racing, and believe only classic muscle cars can pull off that look. Beautiful tail end that makes it look like it would give a corvette a run for its money around a track. I hate the grill fog lights previous years models sported. Nice modern, sporty and sleek looking American made vehicle.

    What is the car running for shoe width? 275s? I cant see this car with anything less than a 285 out back and i would prefer a 295 or 305 out back. 285 up front should help prevent any understeer at the nose but you have to go wider on the rear the mustang even with its irs is still going to be tail happy under power just based off the wieght distribution.

    I like the new mustang gt because you can chose your own driving mode normal, sport+ , track and snow and wet mode. I also like the launch control in this mustang because you are able to operate your leave setting and launch setting when you are on the track. I also like the line lock which makes the burn out easy.

    I just did a test drive of the ecoboost and the 5.0 mustang. The 2.3 is a dog and sounds like a vacuum cleaner under the hood. Now the 5.0 is a complete beast and is the fastest car I have ever driven. The rear wheels were always trying to break loose up to 3rd gear.

    Great review! I was gonna ask - how is the torque at idle? i.e. If you release the clutch pedal without any gas (idle) does the engine stall, or does the car move forward? Reason I'm asking is because traffic is way too bad here in the Philippines

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jod Stasic The car has solid torque from the factory. You can definitely let the clutch out slowly and move forward. Hope this helps! -Dan

    Been a Mustang fan for a long time, every since I was a kid. Gotta say, I had my doubts with this model. I actually liked the style of the 2014. But looking at it now, it looks pretty nice.
    I've been driving a 2001 Kia Spectra for the last four years. It's a good car and has gotten me where I needed to go, but is getting pretty old and might be seeing its last days on the road. Hope it still lasts me until I complete school and get a good supporting job. Might get a Mustang as my next car. But it might not be until '16 or '17.
    Wonder how the Mustang will look then.

    • @Ravaniscool
      @Ravaniscool 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      They will probably make some modifications to the body in terms of the lights and the front. The engines might receive a boost as well. They will have to do that in order to keep sales alive before the next generation arrives around 2020 or 2021.

    Definitely trying to appeal to that European market and younger demographic. I was hesitant about the new body style, but after seeing the actual car it's growing on me, and I am quite impressed with the longer hood line. I'm definitely interested to see how the 4 cylinder eco boost and independent suspension performs.

    I have a question for AmericanMuscle. I'm looking forward to buy the new 2015 mustang, but I don't know if I should get the ecoboost or the GT. I live in Los Angeles so you could see why I have doubts on what car to chose. So my question to you is what car should I chose?

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Erik Ceballos This is a tough call! Being your location the GT would not be the most practical thing in the world with traffic, gas etc.. However, it's a 2015 GT so you have that going for you! The Ecoboost is awesome as well. Much more fuel efficient! I would go with the 2015 GT and enjoy the heck out of it! This is just my opinion. I hope this helps! -Dan

    Well done Ford! I was never a fan of the previous Mustangs (except the classics) but you got me with this one. I was about to buy a BMW 435i but now will be getting a Mustang GT instead. With the money I'll save, I'll be able to mod the heck out of this one.

    Of course they're gonna say it's the best mustang ever ! They have a shit ton of aftermarket money to make on it...and excuse me, but :
    1. No real mention it looks like a fusion
    2. Dismissing straight line performance as of it's nothing important (ahem...)
    3. No mention of the ecoBoost
    4. No mention of the increase in weight of the car
    5. No mention on the fact numbers have proven the S197 to be faster under many aspects
    6. No mention of the fact it's lost most of it's raw edge american muscle car personality
    I'd say this review is far from unbiased.

      Diego Meraviglia We have an EcoBoost as well and you can watch our page for those videos. We're not in the business of selling Ford Mustangs, so we have no reason to talk this car up. If you buy a 2013 Mustang, we can still sell you parts! We've already talked about the increase in weight and the limits of the IRS in our other videos that we took these cars to the track. We've shown that the S197 beats it at the track in our other video. We were one of the first people to race them head-to-head to show this! As for "losing it's raw edge", we completely disagree. This was definitely not a biased review. This was a review from the Mustang enthusiast's perspective. -Chris

    • @DiegoMeraviglia80
      @DiegoMeraviglia80 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Sure thing, I probably already spent 5+ grand with them...so I am far from Anti-AM, but I would just like to see reviewers stop kissing Ford's ass on this 2015. "Greatest mustang ever", fireworks, 4th of July, parade...amazing, best thing since warm bread.
      There are many issues with this new model and many diehard mustang enthusiasts that are quite unhappy with it...just go look at the forums or go to club meetings.
      All we hear about are the positives 98% and some light comment on the negatives 2% like in most press reviews.
      Let's be honest, call it as it is and say that Ford basically gave all the American muscle car enthusiasts a middle finger in favor of their new found Euro buddies. The car looks euro, feels euro and drives euro. It was a lazy design done by slapping another car's lineage (fusion) onto the mustang instead of designing it from scratch and doing something completely unique (like the S197 when it came out). Moreover, having test driven them plenty, they drive like BMWs and are more yuppie than Silicon Valley. Sure if that's what you want...quiet, comfortable, precise, smooth, slick...ask your grandpa if that's the definition of American Muscle...and I'm not even getting into the ecoBoost conversation. Some dealerships are even agreeing...
      Moreover, downgrading the V6 ?? To me that means prepping to phase it out and leaving domestic buyers with either an unaffordable GT (47k some models...) or a radical chic Prius winking euro friendly 4 banger with fake in-cabin engine sound like BMW.
      Unless Ford does an about face in 4 years I am moving to Dodge, with a lot of sadness...
      As for the review...I would like to see a little more objectivity and discussion on both sides of the fence, not just on ford's lawn.

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Diego Meraviglia I feel like you raised some interesting points. However- and this is just my opinion- I feel like you've had your mind made up on this car for sometime and the fact that I didn't back up or mirror your disapproval of the 2015 has rubbed you the wrong way. I'll go down your list first and give you my response:
      1) That was the first thing I addressed in this video. I simply pointed out the parts of the car that were 'Mustang related' to let people draw their own conclusions. I prefer to do this rather than telling them "This car DOES/DOES not look like a Fusion"... yanno, objectivity.
      2) I pointed out twice that the new suspension isn't going to be a hit with the hardcore drag racing crowd. And even made mention of the bad wheel hop in a previous teaser video. I also say "straight-line performance aside, this is the best mustang ever." That's me pointing out my lack of total satisfaction in this particular category, without beating a dead horse. Lets face it, Ford didn't put the IRS in the car to improve the drag/straight-line performance and for me to act like its a huge disappointment that this thing isn't a full-second faster in the quarter than the S197 would be foolish and would be selling the car short.
      3) This was the GT overview, we fully intend on doing a separate Eco-boost review.
      4) Your right, and I'll admit I dropped the ball on this one. The weight gain is/was disappointing, but in my opinion it didn't overshadow the car. Regardless I should've spent a little time on this...apologies.
      5) I don't know what you are referring to when comparing the S197 "being faster under many aspects"? We've already mentioned the straight-line performance thing, what else am I missing? Braking? Road course? Figure 8? Because everything I have seen and read (a lot) points to the S550 being faster or better here...stock for stock, GT to GT, as stated in the video.
      6) "Lost most of it's raw edge american muscle car personality"? Hmmm, again your opinion but I'll bite. Raw in what manner? You mean raw like bump-steering into the next lane on a rough highway overpass thanks to that coveted solid rear axle? Sure, I'll give you that one. Raw like the cheap and sparse plastic interiors of generations past? Ok, you win again. Or possibly the Raw-ness of that awesome rattle whenever closing the door on my S197- yep the S550 can't help you there. I believe you are confusing with "raw american muscle car personality" with 'less than favorable' american car qualities...
      Listen I love the Mustang... every Mustang (even the god awful '76 Mustang II King Cobra) and have pretty much driven them all. But I tell it like I see it- nobody is telling me what to say and further more, nobody is paying me to 'kiss Fords ass on the 2015'. (If you know how to make that happen, let me know) Could I have spent more time expanding on the the minor weight gain or lack of huge straight line gain, sure. But again, there's much more to this car then straight line performance..(and BTW your acting like the straight-line performance is bad!? We just went 11.2 with bolt-ons!?)
      I 100% stand by my review and I encourage you to to spend a week in a new Mustang and come back and tell me how you HONESTLY feel. But at the end of the day I think(know) your mind is already made up and your judgement is being clouded by your dislike of the new styling and the fact that an American Icon is going global. So I guess I have to ask, are you the biased one here? Either way, thanks for watching. -Justin

      @DiegoMeraviglia80 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      AmericanMuscle.com Hey Justin...that's what I like about you guys, you get down and dirty and don't run from a discussion. Kudos...
      I don't expect a mirroring of my opinion by all means. Another review said something great..."Has the Mustang lost its raw edge ? You bet. And after 50 years it may be hard to swallow."
      It is pretty much a fact and evident that Ford designed the 2015 to be in line with their general branding as of 2014-2015. Since this day, the Mustang has always been in a world of its own, not following the lines and design themes of other Ford cars. With the new one they basically created a "sport version" of their general branding and abandoned the car as a unique self-standing 100% exclusive vehicle. It's more a Ford, less a Mustang. I feel this should be stressed...because it is evidently on purpose.
      Straight line performance has been the focus and attitude of American cars for ever...to not be disappointed about or at east stress it, is to abandon American motorsport philosophy and go Formula 1 friendly...Euro.
      I am very interested in seeing your take on the 4 cyl.
      By Rawness I mean the fact it does not drive like a satellite robotic vehicle...like BMWs, Audi, Aston martin...but that you have to fight it...it is not DISCIPLINED...and like a pony, does not always do exactly what you want it to...which for muscle car enthusiasts is great ! It's like sleeping with an imperfectly passionate woman or a perfectly produced manikin. This is personal I guess...but many reviews have pointed out the car is now more of a luxury sports car, than a spartan american muscle car.
      ow about the 3.7 ? Any mention of that ? Any review of that one ? Why did they drop numbers on it ? Why did they degrade it ? Why not do an ecoboost 6 cyl instead of 4 cyl and why not develop the cyclone that has a lot more to give. Did you or any of you guys at AM talk about this phasing out ? ...and I am more interested in YOUR opinion than the professional review.
      The mustang has been the way I describe above for 50 years...to just wash that away with a stroke of a sponge and dismiss it, I find extremely distasteful.
      Keep up the good work man, you guys have been there for me many a times, despite we disagree on the new pony.

      Dexter Conley, you know in hindsight I should have went into more detail about that and I apologize! The linelock feature, in addition to the launch control are both found in the productivity screen and are accessible using the steering wheel controls. When selected it will ask you to press the brakes firmly (and I mean firm!) and then it will say you are good to go. Its pretty straightforward, but honestly it can be a little time consuming. I'd prefer the ole' "dump the clutch and let her rip" approach! Thanks for watching as always buddy! -Justin

    You really IMO, can't beat a mustang in general, for the money they cost, and the power you get, its a win win situation, the sound and power they produce is exceptional and they can make even better gains than factory by simple bolt ons for reasonably low cost, compared to the vettes and lambos for over $100k I myself have owned 12 Stang's total 11 foxbody and an low mile 02 GT I will always love the foxbodys as that was my first mustang they are fun and easy to work on but these new ones are beautiful!

    With all the "Mustang guys" bashing the s550 let's clear one thing up. Mustang is a passionate community with different ideas of what a mustang is. Some think it should essentially be a first gen with a modern drivetrain. Others that it only be a straight line brute. Ford will NEVER make every single one of us happy. If your s197 can destroy this car in a straight line or looks better than the 15 then great, you already found YOUR idea of Mustang. But don't go belittling another man's (or woman's) Mustang. Unless Ford gets rid of the V8, then I'll join you.

    I don't know why I do this to myself. I always watch videos of these new mustangs, knowing I would never be able to to sign a loan for one lol. I love everything about them remodel after remodel, now with the suspension upgrade it is really a practical car. I love my 1994 cobra to the core, it is practical in that it's taxes and insurance are cheap and it's paid off, but damn how much I wish I had an irs, even driving my cobra in the snow with snow tires takes patience, no traction control lol. Justin I like this review a lot man. But after driving all 3 models of the s550. I can't help but think that over time the eb will actually become y'all in the aftermarkets bread n butter. I say that because of entry price point options and the competition at or near the eb price point. While I don't like how the eb feels just like the fist&fost stock. I.e.good mid range slight turbo lag&lazy feeling top end. With a few of the right parts, decent air, tires and driver. I think we will see a lot of 12sec 4 cylinder mustangs running around.
    Fyi I can't wait to see what you guys do with your eb project car. I was so impressed when you guys were the first to have an 11 sec 3.7 cyclone! That project car convinced me to buy a lot of the parts that I put on my 2013 from am!

    The real question is it worth to spend extra money on the performance pack or spend it on aftermarket parts since its suspension got reviewed as too soft for the track by many drivers?

    • @mustang6035
      @mustang6035 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good question. It would depend on a person that loves turning wrenches or a person that wants to just have it already on their car when purchased.

    • @Zshazz
      @Zshazz 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The performance pack also comes with some "unique tuning" for the ABS, ESC, and EPAS systems... so, I'd say it would be really nice if those could be translated (or improved upon) by aftermarket as well. If it's not possible, it's one area that might sway someone to getting the performance pack anyway (although, that's some pretty expensive software, if that's what you end up getting it for).

    • @americanmuscle
      @americanmuscle  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel Maia That is the million dollar question right now. I would say yes and here's why- The brakes, wheels, rear end and small bits like the gauges and bracing are well worth the price of admission alone. The dampers are the same whether you get a base GT or PP so you would be upgrading that anyway. So again, I would say for $2400 its definitely worth it. :) -Justin

    Justin, Great review. One of the better I've seen on the new 15 Mustang. One question though. I see you drove it with the Performance Pkg (PP). I am planning on ordering one of these in the near future. I plan on using it for a daily driver (dd) and for long trips. Do you think the PP would beat me to death as a dd & on a long trip with the stiffer springs, track tuned suspension and bigger rims?? I plan on adding a Borla catback exhaust, cold air intake and a Bama tune later on. As a side note... I did not know the name came from the WWII, P-51 Mustang fighter. Thanks in advance. Dennis

      I'm not affiliated with AM (just a fan and loyal customer), but from reviews I've seen on the 15 GT pp, the suspension was a little soft on the track. From that I'd assume you wouldn't get out too battered and bruised. Not sure if you have, but have you heard the Stainless Works exhaust for the 15? By far my favorite. Hope that helps a bit until someone from the AmericanMuscle.com team can get to ya.

    Great review Justin. Thanks for doing this. I'm not sold on the looks. It looks to me like a Fusion and an Accord coupe (especially from the side and rear 3/4) mated, with maybe 20% Mustang thrown in. I love the interior upgrades. It does feel like a more refined car for sure. Very nice toys as well. When it comes to comparing it to the S197 5.0... that's tough. The S197 is lighter, every bit as fast in a straight line (if not faster), and looks more the part of a Mustang IMO. I may be biased since I have a 2012. The brake upgrades on the new car are very welcome, as that has always been somewhat of a weak point.

      Thanks for the kind words hartsickdisciple, and believe me it was my pleasure! I always look forward to doing things like this but unfortunately I don't get to do them too often! Braking felt great in the PP car, pedal was firm and fade was almost non-existent in the decent amount of 'spirited' back road driving that I did. New tires should definitely be high up on the priority list in my humble opinion. Overall- I'm with you, I still love my S197 but the more time I spend with these 15's the more I fall in love... Thanks again for the continued support. :) -Justin

      AmericanMuscle.com Not many of these guys were around when the 67-68 Mustangs were around. The 2015 Stangs roof line reminds me of these cars. There was a picture of the new car taken from the ceiling straight down. Man that coke bottle waist line just reminded me of the 67-68 cars.so much.

    Justin when are you going to hit stage 4 in your project?

      Man, that's a good question Sidney Walker. Honestly I've been so busy with work and the new 2015's that I've (sadly) been neglecting my '14. I still drive the hell out of it, just haven't had a ton of time to work on it. That being said, I'm sure I'll do some more mods eventually! Thanks for watching! -Justin

    What exactly is in the performance package?
    I want to get it with just the LSD and Brembos but with the cheaper 18 in wheel option (Will be trading my 13' V6 but I have Winter tires for 18 in rims, and I have nice 20in staggered rims with Nitto tires for Summer and Spring). Wondering if anyone knows if such a combination is possible, I don't want like 3 sets of rims.
    (Also, do floor and trunk mats from 13-14s fit on the new 15s? I have friends that would buy them, but the cars have pretty similar dimensions on the interior).
    Btw, what color do you guys like on the new Mustang (I'm split between White, Red, Black, and either of the two shades of Grey), and if anyone has one.., Paddles or Stick?
