Bro... the first 13 minutes have shown me all sorts of new methods of modeling I would have never thought of. I came for Substance Painter--but now I know I've severely underestimated the power of the modifiers. Thank you, mate
a tutorial is supposed to explain why you're doing the things you're doing and why they work that way... this guy is just narrating his moves so not really a tut
The video is much more than a tutorial. It covers Sub-D Modeling with proper edge distribution and flow. You also covered the correct and proper way of blender's powerful modifiers. Covered the UV stage. And proceeds to cover texturing via Substance Painter too !
00:19:05 instead of marking seams you can use smart uv project which does it all for you. But it is still more accurate to mark seams especially with higher poly models.
YO YOU NEED TO MAKE MORE OF THESE VIDEOS and please more details when u use shortcuts tips and tricks etc i loved the video and moddeling and i subbed rn
THANK YOU! Will do this next for sure! .but is it possible to do some animation on it, like bullet holes? And red wine from bullets holes lol. I sure know my own limitations for sure, because I have only 50h on blender, but this tutorial seems do able with me skill set
Didn't know about Magic UV, Thank for sharing that. Also, this video might help you for UV Packer addon: th-cam.com/video/msvUt2ED9as/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
I love this tutorial but I do feel the number of subdivision surface modifiers are a bit excessive. It makes it look smoother, but also increases the number of vertices by A LOT. So rendering an animation or image of it will take a long time, and if you use it in a game, a single barrel will be hell on performance, not to mention the fact you'll probably use that barrel many times throughout the game which will require a really high-end pc just for the game to function at all. I really do love your work though, your knowledge on blender's modifiers and how to use them is really impressive :D
If anyone facing issue at 11:35. When duplicating but can't rotate like in the video then change the pivot point to 3d cursor from top in the tab just beside "Global" writing in the top
Hi Very nice tutorial, i learnt alot and subbed. How can you tell where you need to put seam on certain object for crisp UVs? Moreover how can you tell if you need to put no seam at all for the obj so it will give nice UVs by it self
Think about how the texture is going to wrap around your model; The orientation of the texture and the size of it. Look for natural seams such as edges where two separate parts of the object meet. Also, objects with very simple geometries or uniform surfaces may not require seams at all.
I am wondering how workflow looks like after that when you want to import that model to Unity etc. It is probably to high poly (similar to stuff in your other videos). Do you have some tips on that?
Today I have watched your video and learned a lot. I copied your video and tried to make the same as you made it on this video. I completed my working till Modeling part. I wasn't able to do the UV Unwrap. :( :( It was little confusing and fast. I'm new to UV unwrap. Please suggest me any video where I can learn UV Unwrap from Basics and then will be able to finish this Barrel model. Thanks a lot for your help.
Sum tips i received 1 - treat the mark seam as Passin a scissor on a 3d shape to make them 2d 2 use the mark seam to separate the areas where your Color is TOO different from the other parts round them
@@Lanthirengame ready модель подразумевает в себе, что в ней будет как можно меньше полигонов, тебе ничего не помешает конечно запихнуть эту бочку в 3d редактор, но компьютеру на котором это все будет работать, будет тяжко
I get confused with alot of modeling vids on youtube because they are before retop. And if youre gonna do all that work, why not a cylender with some extrusions and sculpting.
I'm living in Turkey and I'm just starting to learn blender. you are a great teacher. Thank you man!

Also pretty useless outside of substance painter as tileable textures will have obvious seems if you don't unwrap properly. 😊
I could watch this all day! From Blender to Substance and back is my cup of tea! Awesome work guys! 🤩
Thank you so much, Loshke! Glad you liked it 🤩
Learned a couple new things. Thank you and keep them coming 😍👍
Thank you so much for watching! Glad it was helpful 😍😍

Amazing Tutorial!!! Thanks

nice tutorial! thanks.
Big thanks bro. This video is super helpful. Thank you so much.
In 11:26 you need to change Pivot Point from Mediant Point to 3D cursor.
That's true. Thanks for mentioning it. I probably mistakenly cut it during video editing.
It's infuriating when footage is cut from tutorials@@pixlways
saved me time with this one thanks lossapote!
great tutorial thank you

22:57 I had no idea that's how you do that. I've just grabbed a vertex and pressed O and kind of, squished stuff. :D

Can you show us your workflow for hard surface when it comes to armor? Like torso or shoulders?
We'll consider that for our future videos, thanks for your input.
@@pixlways thank you
hey, do the Gumroad files include the lighting and compositing?
Thanks for this clear, detail and to the point tutorial. I have used Blender for awhile now, but I still learn alot about modifiers from you
Thank you! Glad it was helpful!
When I tried to use UV Packer Addon I had errors. I packed with Magic UV Addon(it's preinstalled addon that need to be activated/checked).

Hi, maybe you know how to pack UV islands with magic without changing their scale?

You can also use "Spin" from Edit mode. Set Angle to 330, enable "Use Duplicates" and set Steps to 12.

how can we make it game ready? in this model
why wouldnt it be game ready.?

Thanks for the lesson. I'm starting to learn blender, and I want to ask you why you create a new image at 19:43 min, what is its purpose?
i have a problem with the screws it dosent rotate properly it rotates alonge it self pls help
Your textures looks basically the same between blender and painter. What is your setting to match them that good?
We make it in painter and import in blender, there's nothing special lol
@@pixlways Dang. Why my color is so different between softwares then
I got my free time again! I will start doing this now! ahahahah. Always love the substance painter part. I want to learn more of it.
So glad to hear that, can't wait to see your version.
¿Does anyone know why when I copy and paste at the time of rotating, only the one I just copied moves instead of creating a new one?
Anyone knows how many polygons does the whole model have? Myy pc is slow idk if it can handle a subdivision model
Great tutorial. Thanks for sharing.
Just a tip, you can use Ctrl + L, Transfer Mesh Data instead of the modifier.
That's true, thank you so much for the tip!
can you tell me the reason that why you applied the modifiers?
We need to export the model for Substance Painter and bake so, we need to apply the modifiers first.

why you don't use auto UVs?
guys, are all those materials like, already in base substance painter ? :o
Yes, mostly in Smart Material section
do you always do the UV wrapping in blender?
I also use RizomUV
aplico el Deformación_simple, y me sale hacia abajo
is it game ready ?
It is not a game ready model.
@@pixlways why not? it would be hell to retopologize
Yeah its way too high poly for a game.
