Lol right? There might have been a time he believed in those things he said, but when VC funding comes in, all that goes out the door. Hinge these days is more concerned with extracting as many $$ out of poor lonely souls than creating matches, their monetization schemes speak for themselves.
@verb0ze well I only got off it two months ago cause I'm seeing someone, prior to that I've been dating around casually for years and I can attest hinge is the least money grubbing dating app of the lot. Unless something has drastically changed in the past two months I would rank hinge at the top then bumble. The rest have pretty much become pay to play, bot filled garbage
He totally lied when he said "I don't know about height". He has the data on filters. This makes me question his credibility through the whole episode.

Loneliness is an inner battle. Surround yourself with things you truly love and everything will be ok. Don't focus on the loneliness, you will miss everything.
@@mirjamweibel9678 I feel the same. Dating is essentially two people who are admittedly lacking, complete with expectations of how to fill their void. Meeting someone knowing there are expectations I find uncomfortable. If you were to somehow fit in with someone’s life naturally that would be the way.

Good to put a face to one of those who have contributed to irreversibly ruining dating through encouraging shallow preferences and too many options. Hope the bank balance is worth it, cheers mate!

Tech and data sometimes can seem so sterile, and just data driven. It can have stigma of being emotionless and bad but you can have a real connection. It's such a powerful tool because you can connect with people across the country and the world! This is so great! Coming from a place that wasn't on the app train, I have been discovering and it's been so much fun! You just have to filter out what you don't match with😁 Thank you for sharing this 🙏
Apps are the problem. If there were no apps people would talk and listen and be more natural . People are attracted to good looking people and thats just the way it is and if you dont have a face that fits then you have no chance and that leaves a lot of people especially men single and alone .
I agree that apps don’t work. The problem is that all you have to evaluate a match is a picture so of course the only thing you’re going to evaluate the person by is looks. In real life there are so many things that override looks. A terrible personality would make a good looking person ugly and a good personality increases attractiveness. There is also the demeanour, the voice, the accent, facial expressions, how they move, their sense of humour, the list is endless. All this affect the overall attractiveness for us women. Someone who is a 4 in a photo can be a 10 if our humour syncs and he makes me laugh. You cant find this on an app.
@@laraking804@chris-tz9ct Exactly - there's no incentive for politeness, courtesy, or authenticity when you meet and 'having a talking stage' online. It's fake. Personality, vibe, someone's smell, mannerisms only really come through when you're right in front of them.
I can argue, where I was living before was a very isolated village. I met my current partner on Hinge, he's only just relocated back to the country and didn't know anyone. For me it was a success. But honestly I wouldn't join the app if I was living elsewhere.
I think apps are ok but the problem is people don’t answer all of the questions for their profile and expect people to take them seriously. They put just looking for something casual and expect to find something other than casual. A lot of people use it just for sex. There’s also a lot of love scammers from other countries but the main problem is lack of accountability. If you don’t want a woman who is overweight then stop being overweight. If you want a woman who doesn’t sleep with everyone then stop sending sick pics and leading with sex.
I feel like DOAC dropped the ball on this one. Hinge is all about making money, NOT love. I paid for the app hoping it would allow me to match with more people I was interested in. Nope. They are behind a rose wall even when you pay. Its absolutely wild they dont show everyone evenly. Did no one on your team double-check to see if he's for real?? This is a profit based app plain and simple.
The lady was just about to marry someone and somehow she "magically" changes her mind last minute per say to call off the wedding and "wants/decides" now to be with Justin all of a sudden after they have a long catch up in Switzerland for hours and hours on after not seeing each other for years prior, as Justin shares more of his stories to her how he's gained more massive success in business, life, financially and etc. Whilst it's admirable and good to see/hear that he's made progress for himself for more positive personal growth in all areas of life. It does make you think though, how much of a "coincidence" it is that this lady has now magically changed her mind so fast (in the grand scheme of things) to not marry the previous genlteman who she had a mortgage/place with already and lived together. There was a valuable point in this story that I think might have gone over most peoples heads. C'est la vi.

The biggest problem with dating apps is that companies are trying to monetize a process that never needed to be manipulated. They have taken away the ability to meet only to sell human interaction back to us.
This!!! Not every human experience should be digitalized. Core experiences like love and friendships/connections should happen offline. Back to offline
I was on Hinge for a while and and 90% of the faces were the same the entire month. I didn't get any new names until I needed to resubscribe. Suddenly dozens of faces appeared that I could not contact. I don't like the business model.
I don’t know what it is but there’s something about this hinge guy in which he seems like he’s lying or at least exaggerating the truth to such a degree it becomes a fun story…🤔

Lol, no. People are just shitty, what else is new? Dating has always sucked, ghosting is not new. That's why people settle for the relationship they are in even if it's miserable. Also, when you're older (35+) everyone single has kids or just not capable of keeping a relationship going in the first place (me) or WORSE, rushing to settle down because, they're desperate to have kids before it's too late. Sad, but staying single is just easier.
To an extent but speaking as an introvert, I would have never have gotten the comfort and security of being myself whilst meeting with strangers in person. I had to make many mistakes over and over until I just didn't care about rejection and understood how to play the game
that's how the xx.s primarily (ab)using, and (hypergamy-and ego-wise) benefitting from, and catered to in his 'services' and alike would verbalise selves either. see eg piles of tktk-clip analyses by gents who make yt-based income in bravely standing all the cræp. i.e. the 'trenches' reconnaissance' part of manosphere content, rather than more philosophical etc. others. but as long as urges for xx.s drive gents into related traps, such analyses stay in utter need.
So, dude loses his GF because he's constantly drinking and taking drugs. Then a few years later, he's a CEO of a successful company and flies to Switzerland to meet her for a coffee. Next minute, she dumps her fiance for him. I wonder why she had the sudden change of heart? 😂

Tbh dating sites are all the same the majority of people are not serious, and they are mainly hook up rubbish. Where women do not respect themselves and men do not respect women. Hence the dxx pictures sent. Lack of dates as when people actually meet they hook up at each other's houses. Women feel let down . Dating apps work for the few and lucky.

I appreciate every episode here, no matter the age target. But.. DOC, can you add in these dating/love/relationships, some aspect of the 40+ people? Many are caught in an age where we were born into the last years of IRL everything, yet we’re not so dumb that we wouldn’t invest effort in what OL has to offer. Would you do that for us? ❤
The data show that the success rate for individuals aged 40 and above is very high because people at this age are sincere. They are not familiar with applications that show the most authenticity. Try your best and good luck to you.

Agree. It's no different than any of the others which attract mostly married men in or men in relationships just looking for free and easy sex. Or young ones obviously looking for the same. I've tried several different approachs, bios, photos on many services/apps. Basically all the same.

Watch when the CEO of hinge is asked, what about the meme going around that women prefer and swipe right on men over 6 feet tall? Watch him look up and to the left, a clear sign someone is lying. He cant have the truth put out there about women's preferences because he would loose half of his app user's. Dating apps have ruined the dating market. The reality of the statistics have settled in, women find 80% of men unattractive, and actually date the top 5% If you are not at least 5'10" dont bother with dating apps. Ask people out in person.

@@elizabethc9406 thank you Elizabeth for your feedback 🤗 My app will be different. It’s a map-based app where the slogan is "Pick a place, then a face." The motto? "Starting from Within." Imagine opening a map and choosing -a restaurant, a cinema, a climbing gym or any location that aligns with your personality-registering your interest, and discovering who else is drawn to the same spot or activity, either for romantic dating or friendship and then going through a matching process with them. Moreover, TerriTie promotes real interactions by requiring ID verification and restricting digital communication until you make a booking, minimizing unnecessary screen time and fostering genuine connections.Besides, it’s based on a new relationship styles framework called PICCK A SPICE. He needs to have a team to reply to people why they are banned from the app or at least give full explanation to why they are banned from the app. Because that is unhinged behaviour to be banned without explanation and you don't get no response to why you are banned.
Yeah, they ban people indiscriminately and there's entire internet communities dedicated to trying to get around these bans (r/swipehelper) complete with people buying burner phones/sim cards, spoofing phone numbers, editing photos, etc. If you get banned from Hinge you're basically screwed because it's the only dating app that is useable.
Interesting episode! It may sound like I’m under a rock but I have not really heard of Hinge (well, I don’t do the online dating thing). I truly appreciate Logan’s vulnerability, strength and his ability to solve a problem in order to get to his destination. It’s a very inspiring episode. Truly enjoyed it. 🙌
Apps should come with required education on the realness of relationships (like an Esther Perel content 😄) People romanticize relationships too much, even those who disagree with romanticizing. People believe that when things get difficult it’s a sign that you should end things. Not saying that’s not true in some situations, but relationships are simply not like that. They are beautiful and they are complex, just like life, just like humans. The issue is that we are now at a point where knowing that there are “more fish in the sea” has become the catalyst for leaving a ‘situationship’ when it no longer fits the idea that each person has about the relationship they want to be in. The number of options can be good, but not necessarily helpful at this scale in the larger context of “finding a partner”. Apps can exacerbate the problem, but the problem is the people using them the way they are, not the apps themselves.
The guy is totally blue pilled. HE became a millionaire to return to the one who did not believe in him in the first place. I hope she won't divorсe him taking half of his shit as she left her fiancee before the wedding.
It just a marketing , manipulation, behind paywall shitty app.. just like most dating apps, which will give you false hope. I dont bother listening to this person.
@@Vivi_9 that's mostly true, but I had to pay for the features because I don't want kids, makes things very difficult otherwise. Very annoying that the most common and biggest dealbreaker isn't free.
Fascinating insights on the intersection of personal experiences and entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs should note that dating apps like Hinge use data-driven approaches to improve user experience; applying similar analytics to understand customer needs can significantly enhance your business model. Remember, it's not just about the product, but how well it connects with users.
wow I have always loved Hinge, I enjoyed the app in London and always have hyped the app, I also met my partner of 4 years on it. Strange to hear how it came about 😂
How did he miraculously have 2,000 people who were cool and hip to invite and they attended the launch party? The details like that are always left out of “success” stories!
I don’t believe a word coming out of his mouth. If he cared so much about people getting together, the app would be completely free like all the features that used to be free. He contributed to the broken dating scene and now is trying to promote it, like this app is better than tinder or any other often useless apps that only make people lazy. Stealing someone’s future wife speaks for his character as well and this woman’s character
I have tried all the major apps and had such a different experience I hinge that has resulted in an incredible partnership, busy atm but will come back to speak to my experiences.
The CEO sounds like the avoidantly attached who got back her phantom ex and of course, it makes great headline and romance story. But is that healthy relationship at the end when he is trying to get back with a girl who was engaged at the time? Although i think it’s cool to have an app to help people meet each other that they won’t otherwise met in their usual social circle.
His story about hittin up a chick that he hadnt been with in 8 years proves female hypergamy. This chick called off a whole wedding and moved acrosd the world to be with him once she learned about a 20 million dollar funding round for his company. Women will straight up monkey branch to their best option in the moment. I dont blame him, he was in an advantageous position and he took it. She just proved hypergamy.
I didn't realise Hinge and Tinder have been around for the same length of time. The dating game has changed dramatically in the last decade. No matter the apps format you can't hide the fact that 90% of women are looking for 5% of the men. 70% of women say they wouldn't date somebody under 6 ft. That means most of us are out the game straight away. The apps are not the problem, it's the people on them. The ideal is to delete all the apps and try and start conversations in public. In a queue in a coffee shop or at your cycling club. Apps are not the future...

I was the first person I knew to date online. It was back in the late 90s! There were no dating apps at the time. I met someone through a chat room. I remember people thought I was a psycho because I met someone online. I wish I had thought of making an app, even though it has never worked on in thr long run with anyone I've met online. It's so funny to me that it is seen as normal now.
The spots, social media, Internet porn... It's ruining humanity. Amazes me that people do not see it and still try to navigate it in their lives. I speak from personal experience.
I really wish most app would stop forcing users to use their location. What if you want to date internationally. What if my true connection is in Africa 😞
There's a reason he had so many 2-6 weeks relationships that eventually felt wrong. From the drug abuse in college and the desperation to fit in - to every one of his mannerisms, it's hard to miss. As one myself I can smell another one a mile away. Me thinks the wife is earning well as a bit of cover. He must believe he has to identify with 90% of his userbase to be able to lead the company - I don't envy him 😕
He should have talked about the algorithms!! Do you know the best looking people are behind pay wall ? Do you know if someone else desirable likes you , your desirability score goes down and you’re shown to less people !!!? Hinge doesn’t work for most .
Looking forward to this episode as a therapist that specializes in sex/couples therapy…especially as I’m single & hinge hasn’t helped much when I do make an effort to try the whole online thing again. Can be exhausting
I'm really hoping the Thursday app takes off because it only lets people log in on a Thursday and then there is an IRL local mixer for the matches to meet in person. I think the biggest barriers so far are that it's not free to use and the mixers are only in a few cities. But there's potential there.
If you invited the CEO of Tinder, the interview would have been the same. They don't give a sh*t about you or your dating life. It's all about money, and profiting from a societal problem
Hi there JD, I wanted to reach out & comment to your post; I’m sorry U feel this way but like everything we all do revolves around the need for making $! U should try to give these dating apps a try again, some people have gotten married on it😊😉✌️
Interestingly : he speaks of AI to find connection better, & he ended up with his college gf… non internet contact. *reflecting* Intimacy is complex, indeed…❤
He bemoans his privileged problems & uses the word enslaved... hard to take a person like that too seriously... The privileged go to rehab, the rest go to institutions . I'm working class & look down on hinge etc.. junk
This was more about the business of dating apps than the fundamentally broken way we date now. The majority of dating app users are unhappy with the product and wish there was a popular alternative. It doesn't have to do with the way the apps are designed it has to do with the way people authentically connect - and also the safety of women. These apps are not protecting women by running background checks or doing much in the way of real verification of users. This episode missed the mark entirely and felt like an ad for Hinge.
The Thursday Dating app is trying to solve this. You can only log in on a Thursday and it has a local physical meet up IRL mixer for the users. They're having trouble gaining traction however. I think it's a good idea for anyone who actually feels confident in their face to face ability and just needs a good enough ice breaker. The biggest obstacle so far seems to be that because if it's IRL feature it's not available in many cities. I haven't checked recently but I'm in Toronto and last time I looked it didn't exist in Canada, for example. And I'm sure there are safety concerns to be addressed for people to really get on board with it.
No dating app is going to make you feel safe. Interacting with other human beings in real life is the only way - and it comes with risk. It will always be that way.
This is a truly bad take. Women are being murdered and stalked by men with records on dating apps. These apps have a duty if they are providing a service. They're already facing lawsuits for the way they're designed. I welcome the one that finally gets them to filter out criminals@@wexpmedia5889
As I listened to this episode, I was surprised that profile vetting/veracity and safety wasn’t mentioned. Online dating can be scary! And AI? How about filtering for fake profiles?
Someone should make a website that aggregates a safety rating of every dating app and site and then rank them all against one another with that criteria. Maybe have one rating metric be safety and another rating metric be mirage/fake accounts. There would probably be overlap because of phishing, so maybe an overall safety rating and then a more detailed break down if you click into the individual platform rating.
I'll admit that Paul Brunson's interview had my curiosities peaked. This one just confirmed my suspicions. All I hear is that they're helping it's users get the most use and exposure on their app. It hasn't resolved the issue of user's just working the system for sport hook-ups. Steven makes a comment that was completely unacknowledged that people go on it with the belief that they're going to get sex out of dating. It doesn't matter how intimate and vulnerable a person is with their profile because 99% of the other users who see it are NOT even reading it with the intent of getting to know the person and determining if they might be a match for a long term relationship.
He mentioned empowering people. Whrn I was working at Disney World we had our 7 service guidelines every front and dept mgr had to memorize. During a bomb threat that lasted hours we all fell back on those and knew what to do. Yes cotporate sent out higher ups to the scene to hand out water and free meal cards but the whole team alrrady understood how to react.
Basically an hour plug for hinge. That aside I would not be optimistic in any AI match. Eharmony tried this. There were so few matches (members) that they basically succumbed to matching you with anyone for most zip codes. Since no one writes anything about themselves on these other platforms what exactly would AI use to correlate a match, a person's facial feature ratios with the dated pics they provide?? Give me a break.
all of these dating apps operate on the same scam basis: showing alot of 'blurred likes' to lure you on buying a subscription. as soon as you pay the subscription you only see a limited amount of these actual likes.
@@Vivi_9you actually do… there are lots of paid stuff on Hinge if you want a full potential and for app to work faster and with more effect; though that’s monetisation, so it’s hard to blame that part.
Hinge shouldn’t allow anyone to be active without verification. Too many bots, too many people looking for instagram fans, too many swipes available. It’s already getting away from this executives control. Good idea though.
This is sheer brilliance. I recently enjoyed a similar book, and it was absolutely brilliant. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
Well, I suppose there has to be one which isn’t so good. And this was it! How did it slip through the net? In the good ones Steven naturally just enjoys himself. This one felt like he was talking to someone at a party that he couldn’t get rid of.

@verb0ze well I only got off it two months ago cause I'm seeing someone, prior to that I've been dating around casually for years and I can attest hinge is the least money grubbing dating app of the lot.
Facts, especially phones
Yes! Agree!

Dating apps have destroyed our world

Apps should come with required education on the realness of relationships (like an Esther Perel content 😄)
People romanticize relationships too much, even those who disagree with romanticizing.

U should try to give these dating apps a try again, some people have gotten married on it😊😉✌️
I met the love of my life on Hinge 💗💗 This interview has given me great insight as to why this app works.
Interestingly : he speaks of AI to find connection better, & he ended up with his college gf… non internet contact. *reflecting*
Intimacy is complex, indeed…❤
I found my person on Hinge ❤ thank you so so much!
I realise that everything is relative but the "problems" of privileged people is so eye roll.
Starting a family or finding a life partner is universally the most important thing in human society.
He bemoans his privileged problems & uses the word enslaved... hard to take a person like that too seriously...
The privileged go to rehab, the rest go to institutions .
I'm working class & look down on hinge etc.. junk
Agree!!!
@@laraking804 Not relevant to my comment.
Yes being an addict and dealing with heartbreak only happens to the privileged and never working class people you're so right
Loving every word! Finally, someone is promoting how important authenticity is. Thank you, Steve.
Authenticity on just another dating app that allows people to be inauthentic and superficial just like all the others.
this man doesnt realize how hiss creation ruined dating
All of apps did, no? Or do you mean something concrete about this app?
I don’t understand all the criticism for this episode. I thought it was interesting and enjoyed his perspective and insight.
Dating apps are the problem / sick of these tech guys telling us how it’s improving our lives when it’s not.
London! Look forward to seeing you in Manchester
He mentioned empowering people. Whrn I was working at Disney World we had our 7 service guidelines every front and dept mgr had to memorize. During a bomb threat that lasted hours we all fell back on those and knew what to do. Yes cotporate sent out higher ups to the scene to hand out water and free meal cards but the whole team alrrady understood how to react.
steven is just literally the best
Yes
Hinge is the only app that doesn't do this, you don't need to pay for it to work
@@Vivi_9you actually do… there are lots of paid stuff on Hinge if you want a full potential and for app to work faster and with more effect; though that’s monetisation, so it’s hard to blame that part.
I'd like to know what they do with your data that I've heard they sell!
Exactly!!! THAT would be an interesting info! Also some stats they found from that database, their inner kitchen, stuff like that.
Steven watching this podcast in 3 minutes I can see how it just recaps your mental clarity and work
Hinge shouldn’t allow anyone to be active without verification. Too many bots, too many people looking for instagram fans, too many swipes available. It’s already getting away from this executives control. Good idea though.
1:13: Learn how to approach in person!
How could any dating app weed out creepy people with less than appropriate intentions. Even mature people behave like idiots on these apps.
Look forward to this 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
There’s a REALLY great book called LOVE AND RESPECT. HOW WOMEN NEED LOVE AND MEN NEED RESPECT!!!!
This is sheer brilliance. I recently enjoyed a similar book, and it was absolutely brilliant. "The Art of Meaningful Relationships in the 21st Century" by Leo Flint
Your channel inspired me to start my own channel ♥♥♥♥♥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Watching this while on Hinge
great username lol
Throughly enjoyed this episode! Thank you!
Well, I suppose there has to be one which isn’t so good. And this was it! How did it slip through the net? In the good ones Steven naturally just enjoys himself. This one felt like he was talking to someone at a party that he couldn’t get rid of.
SUBSCRIBED!!!
This was my least favorite episode. Honestly his story seems just like that… A story… Being told & sold.
"It used to take thousands of swipes(for men and still does), now only... 50 likes(for women, because they already fucked everyone "worthy" of being fucked on apps) " ... most bs marketing statement ever.
