  • The acclaimed Irish comic-drama "The Banshees of Inisherin," about two longtime friends whose relationship suddenly grinds to a halt, stars two actors who clicked while collaborating on the 2008 classic "In Bruges." Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, both Oscar-nominated for their performances in "Banshees," talk with correspondent Tracy Smith about their friendship, and the challenge of playing ex-friends.

@@VILJL His character is "simple" if that is the word. Uncomplicated. He had his farm, his animals, his sister and his friend. He didn't reach for more because he didn't think he needed more. To my way of thinking he had a little bit of a fool's paradise. He was happy and content, so he assumed everyone else was. It wasn't until his friend brought him up short that he saw life was not what he thought it was. WE all sometimes have the blinders pulled off.

I love these two men. I'm SO PROUD of Colin, though. The first time I notice his amazing acting talent was a small role as a country and western singer in the film 'Crazy Heart' with Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Great actors. Absolutely horrible movie. Stunningly awful and depressing with no there there. What a waste of talent and great scenery. And so disturbing we had to watch something else right after to clear out palettes. How this is so highly rated confounds me. Be prepared for the gross scenes and the pitiful, sad pointless scenes. Despair with no resolve is not worth watching. I’m not a troll. I rarely post on movies or books but when something is this highly rated and this pointless and a waste of time I had the weigh in.
