    Ah, so that's where those Harbour Freight wrenches comes from

    • @ke6gwf
      @ke6gwf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally, they come from the exact same factories as the brand name tools, so... Lol

    • @angrydragonslayer
      @angrydragonslayer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ke6gwf i actually set up a factory for this and they said they have 4 QA outcomes
      Name brand
      Factory outlet
      Low-cost retailers
      Failures
      They used to have 3 but places like HB allows them to sell what would otherwise be a failure

    • @ke6gwf
      @ke6gwf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@angrydragonslayer that used to be true, but Harbor Freight is getting enough volume now that they can demand the better quality stuff, and there aren't enough failures to supply their demand anyway.
      As Harbor Freight quality goes up, the quality of the other big brands has been trending down as they cut costs and skimp on parts, and various side by side tests that have been done comparing the various brands have been showing that some of the Harbor Freight versions are as good or better than a lot of the big names, which considering that Harbor Freight has higher volume than some of the big names now isn't too surprising, because they have the buying power.
      So while some HFT stuff is still junk, they are including a lot of much higher quality tools now, and not just the rejects.

Even though they most probably are. That steel could have been recycled and put to good use making proper tools instead of this low quailty crap. That weld is a major weak point. And as far as I can see there's no heat treatment done to the finished product. Good thing they're only making a wrench and nothing too important.

    They are turning perfectly good ship anchor chain into scrap. At a cost of both material use and man hours. Far better would be to re-use the chain.
    As to final product, well, I guess it has its use in Pakistan. But not much use anywhere else. I have very similar looking wheel wrench on my scrap pile. I.e. it will soon be turned into... raw steel bar. I may cut out the shaft parts out of it - they are of some use to me. Too bad they had to bend it - I would have longer shaft without the bend.

      If you know of someone who is looking for used chain, you should hook them up.

      I agree! The anchor chain is worth way more than these so called wrenches.
