The only reason its not selling cause of the 45 min ride time, $3600 for a spare or replacement is insane...soon as they increase the ride time to 3 hours of hard riding it will sell but then again thats going to drive the price up too, so i guess gas bikes is not going anywhere yet.
@@ElectricCycleRider Yep, but its also the earlier model, so smaller battery. But maybe I will upgrade the whole bike to a newer model. My kids have YCF electric bikes they have 50e and 88e models.
I have a question. How does a rider control power output. If I’m in Trouble with my 300 I just grab the clutch and bring myself around. Is this possible with electric bikes.
It's all in the throttle and braking. A different style that takes a bit of getting used to but you'll notice that the bike reacts much differently than a gas bike. Power control is very easy on the Freeride.
I'm getting approximately 35-40 minutes of hard riding before needing to recharge. This is the original iteration of KTM's battery and they have increased it by 50%.
YES!!! finally, an American review of a bike that’s impossible to buy. (kidding..) KTM is not making it easy to buy one, nor find one in stock. How / where did you get that one? Rumors of a few California dealers have some, but when I call.... crickets I already have a step-up 110 to 220 volt converter, just need to find a dealership that has the bike.
Haha. Yes, I wish they were selling them in the U.S. right now but they are floating around the used market if you keep your eye out. Still worthy of a test ride as they are very fun bikes! KTM will be bringing them back to the U.S. in the future, just not sure when.
It's an awesome bike for sure! I can't quite predict that yet but will be doing some more testing and will report the numbers. I expect somewhere around 45 minutes/15 miles with the original battery.
@@ElectricCycleRider sorry some of these pop up and I don't stop and think, anyway I watched again and I liked it, keep up the good work, and don't listen to asshats like myself,
Hey Tucker, nice ride review 👍🏽 Got a question tho: I've not seen any marketing blurbs indicating any sort of regenerative braking on the KTM E-XC. When you get off the accelerator, does it just coast along until ground friction brings you to a stop? Like a regular dirt bike with the clutch in? And when you're sending hard, and you roll off like 80% of the throttle to almost zero% does it induce any sort of rear wheel drag similar to engine braking?
@RSA Jay Thanks for the note! The 2020 Freeride does have a regen option but the model I am riding here in this video does not utilize regen. It has a freewheel feel and does not have much drag. If you're used to riding a 4T, it will have much less engine braking. I'll report back when I've had some time on the 2020 to talk about the difference with regenerative braking on that model.
@JTH Funny you suggested that! I was just talking about possibly doing a head-to-head with the Sur Ron vs KTM Freeride... Might have to make it happen now! Stay tuned this week, I did a head-to-head test with a KTM 250SX-F Factory Edition vs the Sur Ron and will be posting that.
Nice⚡bike🏆Alta was a shame.I would like the option for both having foot and hand rear brake👍Please check out my ebike vintage 1000w Tomac 98 special a tribute to the Tomac racing family.

so awesome!!!! GO ELECTRIC!!!!!!!
Super cool! Can't wait to see this [w]in a race!
Looking forward to racing it! Thanks Justin!
Great fun. Nice ride.
Can’t wait to see you on the Sur-Ron STORM!!!
@j cox Coming soon!
KTM sells that newer battery and it fits straight to this bike, so you can upgrade your bike very easy
Yes sir. The hardest part of the upgrade is the cost! Do you own a Freeride?

You sir are a fucking animal on that thing👌You have my sub and full attention from this moment forward 😉👊
@Fpvlee Haha thanks man!! Appreciate your support and encouraging words!!
You are a Helluva rider.
@Bad Dealer Thank you
What’s the top speed?
Great for approx 16 min battery!?

How much ride time did you get? That bike is sick!!!

@@ElectricCycleRider I hope it's better than 15 miles... My little one wheel moves me and my son 20 miles.
@@sprocket374 run it slow and it'll go much further. 45 minutes at scramble pace burns a lot of power.
Let’s see a race between the Alta and the Ktm Freeride!
We can make that happen!
Sounds good and maybe a comparison video because I’m looking to buy one
Alta is gone right?
IcemanSam650 sadly
The 2019 got over 40% more battery capacity than the 17😋😁👍
Can't wait to ride the new one! 👍
Where are you riding?!? 😍😍😍
Top video! Like !
Thank you!
Are you going to test the sir ron storm when it comes out?
@Dylan Leal I will be testing the Storm soon!
Slow down and enjoy the scenery,
@It was me I'm test riding the bike, have to ride hard to do so.

Enjoying the scenery and riding can be a recipe for disaster. Ride hard, and stop to check out scenery! 😋
How long did the battery last?
@Adventure Girl Shawn I did a battery test here: th-cam.com/video/WHiNB6-p2iM/w-d-xo.html

Looks trick! Hope KTM sees fit to ramp up USA imports.
@GeoMac Granddad For sure!
How much does it weigh?
245 pounds
So if it's an offroad vehicle why is it not for sale here in the us
The 2020 is for sale in the US.
For some reason I get the feeling this guy flips people crap if they free ride too slow.
As is appropriate.
Were you afraid of that puddle? Seriously now, what about water? Is it IP68?
Haha. I go through that water crossing twice every ride, it’s fine.
@@ElectricCycleRider Cool. Thanks. And small streams? Have you tried crossing them? Say, 80 cm (31,49 inches)

Let’s see it do some single track tight then I’ll be a believer
I was riding these with my family earlier today here www.e-scape.co
Get yout gidantic head out of the shot and show the bike
This is expensive
So we watched you ride and you didn't even go over the bike and show any details....lame
I think "...lame." is a little harsh, but yes I would have liked to have seen a walk around too.
Boring..Zzzzzz Just buy an E-bike. You're welcome.
$11K for a 2020. Fuck that. Typical overpriced KTM.
