The way that this boss managed his employee was exceptional. No knee-jerk reactions, just a willingness to help and an understanding that what’s on the surface probably is only part of a much bigger story.

This is the best situation, the fact he's happy and does something that he can be passionate about and do a bit of graft over goes to show how caring his CEO was

You really can’t blame this guy until you’ve had a customer service job. Depending on the clientele it can reeeeeaaalllly chip away at your soul. And some people just aren’t a good fit for that sort of thing even if the customers are mostly nice. I give major props to this company. They could have just fired him, but instead they found him a position where he thrives! Guess I know where I’m buying candles at from now on!

Of course they're not going to fire the guy! 1, because you can't blame him and 2, he seems pretty smart. You don't run a successful business very long if you ditch smart people too often.

I worked retail, and I never once thought about punching and strangling a kid, he needs professional help with his anger problem. The boss was very kind to move him to a new area but if I was boss I would see that as a major red flag that he is unstable. I used to work in a fitting room and kids would run up and down the hallway or their parents would leave them up there with me and ask me to watch them, and I didn't find it hard at all. Some people are just not kid people I get it. I think for a job like that they need more kid friendly people and not some person they hired in, he could of been a stocker or a front end person.

Some people just work better alone, I know I do! I'm a delivery driver and I spend up to ten hours a day in my van alone and I love it! I can listen to the music I want, turn the A/C as high or low as I want and most of the people I deliver to are at work or school during the day so I don't have to talk to anybody!

I lean that direction. It really depends on the co-workers though. There's nothing better than working with a competent team where everyone does their part and everything just falls into place and just works, almost effortlessly. I've been on teams where I hated the politics of my co-workers but respected their competence. I have also worked in teams where people were idiots. Nothing pisses me off more than having to do my job, someone else's because they can't, and fight them every step of the way.

It was better that the boss adjusted the work environment for him than to punish him for being open about his thoughts. There's a lot of people going around thinking all sorts of crazy shit in their mind. If we were to punish people for talking about their bad thoughts then they would all keep quiet until one day they just do whatever messed up thing their mind is telling them to. It's much better to know and try to prevent it from happening, at least i think so.
