- On today's episode of Undercover Boss will be looking at two exciting episodes. We will first look at the president and CEO of Family Dollar, Mike Bloom, and then the president and CEO of checkers and rally restaurants Rick Silva. As they both go undercover to shake things up. For the first time ever, this boss will be forced to do something so drastic that his company will never be the same again.
Undercover boss: Family Dollar = Season 5, Episode 7 + Checkers& Rallys = Season 3, Episode 4 - บันเทิง
What I never understood is that these CEO’s go undercover on television to find out what is going on while they are paying huge salaries to District and Regional managers who should be addressing these issues. Not to mention the tons of people who work at those offices. Maybe they should go undercover in those mid management centers and figure out why they are failing.
Why they go on undercover boss? 1 word: EGO
True..
You'd think...or at least HOPE...that everyone in middle management know's who the CEO is and would recognise them. It would also be crap to watch. Besides...if you want to know what middle management is doing, you're not going to get the truth by going directly to the source. Going directly to the bottom will tell you everything you need to know, without having to ask questions people are just going to lie in reply to.
There nothing worse than a district manager.
They are mostly pushy people that lie to the employees AND to upper management. It's always someone else's fault.
@@ashscott6068 I don’t disagree. I guess I should have said why don’t these CEO’s go after that middle management? We both know that they know who is who. If they don’t even worse. Basically my first stop after filming would be there, with cameras, asking WTF? If they don’t, it will happen again elsewhere and the company gets the same situation. Maybe I am being overly simplistic.
The Family Dollar CEO's disguise looks like it was purchased at Family Dollar.
Being confronted by a man with a Fake syrup and beard would have had me doubling up with laughter🤣🤣🤣
The whole thing is not "undercover" on account of, I don't know, maybe the cameramen everywhere
😂😂
Ashton Kutcher is somewhere yelling burned 😂😂😂😂
LOOOL I was about to write the same thing but you beat me to it
That Checkers CEO understands that it’s management’s job to make the employees’ jobs easier!
Any leadership position means they are of service to the people they lead, not the other way around.
@@matthewseymour128 That is the main issue though, they mostly forget that they are the ones who are supposed to make us able to do our jobs. The fast food industry though has found a way to make some of the snobbiest sons of bitches who believe that ordering products late means they get to take it out on others , or that they can order around people in some way that just makes everybody get placed in everyone Elses way and honestly I think some managers do it so they can still be dickheads but who are the staff most annoyed at most the time, the one having to follow the ignorant order.
"I can take you outside and beat you up right?" Not while being built like a 13 year old girl.
He has Short Man Syndrome.
@@grumpyoldgraymetalhead2441 .......it's not "Short Man Syndrome" it's his culture.
@@andypeterson8013projecting racism in a undercover boss comment section has to be a new low
I commend the CEO for shutting down that restaurant. Getting a new manager the next day was great. The manager to treats his employees like trash should never stay a manager. This should never be tolerated.
Workplace Bullying should Never be tolerated.
Yea but 1out of every 100 people you meet are going to be psychopaths.
That manager was improperly trained and was put there prematurely.
Right he was able to hire a manager the next day Right did he already hired him a month before
Imagine getting a single paid vacation as recognition from your boss, like it's not something employees should get regularly.
Murica!
I don't understand why some ceo go undercover when literally 99% of your employees don't know what you look like
Because the 1% who does WILL OUT them..❤
Emm..... There are supervisors or managers who know who he is imbecile
Because it sounds cool for the TV programme.
FD STILL doesn't treat employees well and store's are either a mess or crowded by stocking racks and boxes!! Price tags don't match products on the shelves!!
There os s huge HUGE difference between being tough and being mean
Family Dollar treats their employee's like Robots
Oh do they really
using the word Robot was being nice
WHAT ARE THE MANAGERS
DOING SITTING UP IN THEIR OFFICERS.......CEO NEEDS TO
LOOK AT THOSE PEOPLE!!
Isn't that all jobs??
Family dollar is for people who are still living with my m and dad .....no need to make those huge profits .....help your people
A slap in the face!!
20000.00 to 1 worker.
Everyone else 0000000
Spread the money to everyone!
Exactly the only employees that hit the jackpot are the ones working with the boss what a slap in the face to other overlooked good employees😂
We have a family dollar store in Swansboro and there’s more junk in that store and pile up. It’s not a very clean store. Something needs to be done about that.
Wow! This was the best ever episode! Hands on is the way the person at the top of the chain of command needs to run his business. There are a thousand reasons the Commander needs to walk through every one of the branches/stores/ locations unannounced.
6:04 I think everyone would agree it is time for burger restaurants to make burgers and fries as nice looking as the fake burger and fries over this CEO's left shoulder on the bookcase behind him.😋
The Levines, who started Family Dollar, are from my hometown of Rockingham, NC. They owned a clothing store called The Hub. In high school, we wanted to shop there because it was prestigious to say your clothes/shoes came from The Hub. Madras and Weejuns were the rage, and they had the cool stuff.
I don't think there is a company that treats their employees worse than family dollar. Never enough people they're working and they work em to death
Used to work for them with a good manager. Honestly the worst part was the people that shop there. most were great but SOO many where not. Fights, spitting theft only reason I left
With a title like this, I couldn't stop laughing. I'm glad everything worked out for mostly everybody, and I hope that bully manager learned a lesson! I've had my own businesses before, I try not to ever make people feel like that, and I'd can somebody on the spot for being a bully! GOOD JOB!
That’s really good to hear. These are two very generous CEOs want to help their people…
CEOs get to spend weekends with their families? That must be nice.
@@I-Have-The-Cuckooexactly, lol.
The family dollar here in Paulden, AZ It the worse store. It does not carry much but junk people don't buy. It is always out of stock of products Cant get down a lot of isles because of boxes not unpacked and baskets full of junk. It is really dirty.
Here, along the coast in Texas all the Family Dollar's are closing. Dollar General and Dollar tree, on the other hand, are exploding! Family Dollar used to be good but 99% of the time there is only 1 worker so when she's not ringing up she's having to unload and shelve and there is a bell for you to ring when you want to check out.
He should do that for all employees not just the ones that are exposed.
thanks for sharing
This is a very good channel. Thank you.❤
Operating a forklift and super vising it both without High Viz jackets NAUGHTY!
Family Dollar caring about their employees is mere fantasy and was just for show for this show.
If I live in the USA and my company said that the reality show about someone who wants to work in the company ,first thing I would think, undercover boss.
Family Dollar employees need combat training and pay. Seriously.
I'm in the Chicago area and at more stores than not, theft is high. Assaults are high. And too many people lost their lives.
They are waaaaaaay over worked and under staffed too. But who wants to work at a store that gets robbed damn near daily???
ANY Democrat run city will need to train their store clerks in Hand to Hand combat, weapons tactics, and cover and concealment. It kind of what people voted for 81 Million Times!!!! 😂😂😂
@@chrispoe8404
Yup. Blame the Democrats.
Cuz it ain't like Republicans ain't never done nothing. All angels they are. 😂😆😂😆🤣
Have to face what happens in democrat run cities - the crime statistics tell the truth.
We have a Family Dollar here in the city where I live. When I heard that efficiency is their motto, I couldn't help but laugh out loud! He was joking, right? Always out of products. Empty shelves. Clutter everywhere. Clueless employees. So, I go to Dollar General -- and it's twice as bad! LOL!
Just don't go to Dollar Tree. They said in church that it's a sin to commit a Dollar Tree. (read it out loud)
@@bwilliams463 Lol! True! Good one! 😂🤣
The manager should have also been arrested for making a threat to his employees because that’s uncalled for.
Managers on a power trip need to be physically taken down a peg or two especially threatening violence.
They can hem and haw when told the undercover boss fires them but threaten to have that same manager arrested and watch them crumble and instantly regret their actions or for them to take off running when they see a police cruiser pull up.
1) I would have played the drums well.
2) I would have gone outside with that "threatening" manager and left him there.
@@boomer3150 definitely agreed
@@BelmontClan Thanks Bro.
@@boomer3150 your welcome boomer
Excellent
Family dollar in my hometown refused to fix the air conditioning in the store for whole summer. Felt so bad for the employees. Horrible considering he's a billionaire.
Family Dollar is always understaffed. That makes the job pretty dang hard.
I’ve always thought the undercover boss thing was scripted for entertainment only. Still do
All reality tv is bullshit
It's actually a real thing. My sister owned the Circle Pines KOA in Williams, Az,I worked there at the time, and they didn't allow the employees to be on but only the new owners.. Bruce and Lori Zeller ,they were given a lodge for the campground and a $10,000 vacation
Awesome!
Fire mike for being so out of touch with the company in the first place
all of his employees are struggling
I wish I could have talked with the CEO of Family Dollar. I heloed run K-marts years earlier. There were so many problems the CEO of K-marts would not address. One big one was service! They are now gone. Going into Family Dollar showed me major problems. I hear now that the company is failing. This is still true after Dollar Tree bought them.
I saw these episodes. I wish more CEOs would do this. But most are greedy and don't give af
I hated working at Family Dollar. I’ve never worked so hard in my life for such little money. 😢
That's why those type of jobs (and there are a lot out there) you work there long enough while applying for better ones. With prices being high, no job is worth working your ass off for if they aren't helping your living situation in return.
Stories like these are like reality-check crack but, as mentioned by many, go into their higher corporate and see where they are getting screwed from the top, the folks they find working hard, and mostly struggling too, and reward them, makes me happy in an unusual vicarious way...
WOW ! Super BOSS
This is a well and good but what about all those employees out there that have it just as hard or even harder? CEO’s like to show they care by helping a handful of employees instead of helping all employees across the company. They would rather dish out $20,000 to a few employees instead of giving all employees a raise.
Most employees bludge and steal stuff. Why reward them?
@@travis8665 and what about all those that work just as hard if not harder than these few they hand pick on the show? Companies love to put on a good face by showing crap like this but unless you reward all employees that work just as hard then you really don’t care.
This is all HYPE for TV
Every time I see this video this guy reminds me of Key & Peele. I'm just waiting for the guy to say hey A-Aron
Fired guy from Homestead, Florida is not surprising. The abusive men culture towards employees in south florida is quite normal. Why wasn't mid management involved to catch that bad store manage first?
I wish he could come to family dollar in nampa idaho, the store is a joke. The story's of what happens there is horrible
They even had guy shot and killed in parking lot
Homeless people are all over begging Customers for money
They can't keep managers there because how they are treated .
In the 10 years I been shopping there it has had over 20 managers that has quit
On daily basis They have contant thiefs walking out with items setting off sensor alarms
This is just a few of things going on at that store
I went in one morning and witnessed the manager walking out with complete bed comforter set with out going threw checkout , she placed it in her car
Store definitely needs help
awesome
i use to love checkers but the last 3 times i ate at them they gave me the runs.
Why nobody sees the cameraman?🤔
They were told they were filming a reality tv show.
What baffles me is why do they wear bad disguises when nobody knows who they are and what they look like? 🇬🇧
God bless everyone.
Many companies have such problems and many much worse than we ever hear of.
It’s all management issues that just slide until something breaks not to mention all the collateral damage along the way.
Become suspicious when someone says they are participating in a reality show and pay no attention to the cameras.
This is a good video.
This was one of my prior clients. Great people to work with but as they grew, they lost their identities in the 90s
Family dollar was bought by Dollar tree and now they are closing at least 1000 stores!
nice
What i dont understand. I told them an employee stole a state check (federal offense) even showed proof and he still has his job. And to boot, a third of the time shows up drunk. And they still let him work.
Where I live the main problem with Checkers is they are ungodly slow. I have waited over 15 minutes for fast food even when there are only 2 or 3 cars in the line. Food tastes ok but not worth the wait. Sometimes the workers get the food wrong as it comes out made different than the last time. Crap shoot.
There should never be more than one person on any forklift
Ha, the best manager got a Chatlie Brown trick or treat compared to everyone else.
"I got a rock"
Something worth watching recommended by TH-cam
My family dollar in bronx is too small, not enough employees
Well done for sacking that manager got too big for his boots
gave RecapReport a glowing review a few days ago. Today though, there is something lacking. I think it is the condensed summary of peformance review.
Dose any of the employees ever wonder why this new guy has a camera crew following them
What i get from these programs is that the poor employees are the ones responsible for the richness of the rich owners, who don't know a thing about their own businesses.
Family dollar needs to fix it's application process and stop asking for extended family info
These shows can be very entertaining and also horrifying. I was wroking in an animation studio in London and it was a lovely sunny day and the American, woman production supervisor couldn't understand how the freelancers could say: "Nah, we're going to the park today. We'll be in tomorrow! It's too nice a day to come in.
It seems, judging by these shows that American workers are little more than slaves granted virtually no work/life balance. It's corporate hell.
Much as I love these shows, they don't ring true. Here for example, we have a guy saying he puts up with a shitty job because he needs to make money. Are we really expected to believe that he doesn't know that the guy he is talking to is the Undercover Boss?!!! Would you slag a company off on national TV, knowing that it would be seen by the company employing you when you desperately need the work?
You would have to be really, really thick not to realise what was going on, hence the land-grabby, sob stories employees tell in the hope that there is some payoff to be had while the bosses shed crocodile tears and often look like they are just pretending to care.
God, I would HATE to live in America. Their health care is a bad joke and they are just slaves yet are deluded into thinking they are free.
Working at an animation studio in London as a freelancer is very different than low level employment or a job with deadlines. Even the garbage man has to meet a daily deadline. Unless you own the business, you are always living up to other peoples expectations.
@@Bob_Jones123 What?!! 😂 You obviously have no idea about deadlines in the TV industry. Couriers even pick up deliveries labelled "useless if delayed"
The TV graphics industry is one of the most stressful jobs going.
I worked at FD in Williams, AZ, as an ASM. I worked there for 2 years until 5/3/23. I had to leave due to the fact that my manager was sleeping with the new guy he was also an ASM, and their behavior was disgusting . I didn't approve, and everyone kept telling me not to go to corporate because "karma Rhonda karma " so I didn't, I didn't want to be the snitch. Let me tell you, in my 39 years in the work field, I had never experienced the vulgar behavior of someone who was supposed to be a team leader. So, I started calling them out on their disgusting behavior. On 5/3/23 the 2 of them attacked me verbally telling me no likes me just random stupid shit.I called the DM told her what had been going on and what had just happened needless to say the 2 of them are still working there... The customers were telling me all kinds of unethical behavior they witnessed it was embarrassing.
same story every time. Just that this never happened for me at my job even tho I was the #1 rated person at my spot out of all of 2200 stores
I know a manager from family dollar in webster Wisconsin that is Embezzling money and stealing merchandise from the store she works at
Here, along the coast in Texas the Family Dollars are all closing. This could be 1 of the reasons why. The Dollar Generals and Dollar Trees, on the other hand are exploding!
i get them mixed up...was that one dude Key, or Peele?
this show the pitts , worst bosses, worst worker situations!
Awesome
These shoes are so fake. Who really acts like that to a brand new employee and tells them everything in their heart
How do they not notice the cameras watching everything?
They are there but are told it is for a show about new employees so just ignore them
I don’t understand the point about a paid vacation? Surely every employee has a bare minimum of 20 days paid holiday a year or pro-rata of the number of days they’re working?
This is why I don't have a job
Rick doesn't seem like he fits in as a under cover worker. He just looks like a boss or someone in ownership . He's kinda tall lol . Dead giveaway
All tall people are upper management. It's science, folks.
My biggest wonder is why you’re mixing up Family Dollar and Dollar General in your pictures?!? Unless there’s something I missed it’s 2 different places!
It would be nice to look up Undercover Boss and find Undercover Boss. It would seem they have too many leeches to get though the search.
If these bosses can't even master simple tasks- why are they running big companies?
Just some bad disguises.
What always gets me is that they show the makeup artist or hair stylist smiling as she shows him his disguise. I've yet to see one that wouldn't immediately draw my attention. They look so creepy and fake.
I don't go to a family Dollar once a year because they're always a disaster You can't find anything stuff's all over the floor and in the way and there's one employee trying to run the register stock and do everything I would choose Dollar tree anytime over family Dollar least they have four or five employees in there
I'm sure employees don't have a clue about the boss with all the video team..
They were told they were filming a reality tv show.
Where was the threat of a fight....
where's the fight with the boss????
If undercover Boss is done in India...you will see loads of abusive bosses...who don't even know to operate a computer but shouts at workers
Hahaha
What about the other employees? I'm sure they want $15,000 too. Doesn't seem fair to me.
Family dollar don't care for their employees.
Love the show!
He was four feet eleven inches tall ninety five pounds of unbridled fury.
A new position ? Doesn't say if that's just a token position , pay increase . except one time. Corporation covering their rear ends.
Well who knows. All I know is I worked at a place been there about a month or so and I was working right beside one of The swinging doors will people could come in if they work there. And this man tried to come in I block the door and I said what do you think you're doing he says I am coming in and to go to the back. I said no you're not only people that come through these doors are people who work here and he said well I'm one of the owners actually I'm the owner's son. I looked at him and said yeah and I'm the Virgin Mary! Now go. Turned out it really was the owner's son. His wife came around the corner to see what was going on I see you've met my husband and I about fell over
You do realize Undercover boss is scripted right? It follows a pattern. Boss wears a bad wig, has a camera crew, the staff are told it's a new hire doing a documentary or something. They work with an employee of the company who has a sob story. They move on to the next location. They work with another sob story employee. They move to the next one and they either have another sob story employee or they are the worst employee in the history of employees. The reveal, the boss ALWAYS gives the sob story employees money to "help" them achieve their goals. The bad employee gets either demoted, retrained or fired. Rinse, and repeat.
If you don't even have a chance to talk to your boss on a daily basis. Don't complain about being treated as a number.
MOVE !
They treat their employees like 💩 AND it shows¡
They've got to know that hair is fake. 😂😂
