- The Best Beach In Merseyside// Sometimes you just want to chill and enjoy the weekend without too much fuss. We discovered Formby beach in Merseyside that has the most stunning sand dunes and is really beautiful. It totally surprised us too and actually reminded us a little of Northern Germany! Formby beach is so great for couples or a day out with the whole family.
Southport is a very short drive from Formby and is a bit surreal. I think you shouldn't take it too seriously as it's quite fun. The town is very nice to explore as well.

I live in Formby, there is a lot more to the area..a huge pine forest and the second longest dune beach in England.
Some parts of the forest you could be in the Canadian wilderness.
Oh yes absolutely, it's beautiful - the beach was all we had time for on this day.
Liverpool is my home town and many people in the UK are aware that Merseyside has lovely beaches like Formby. I agree with you though on Southport waterfront, not my cup of tea either. Other parts of Southport are far nicer. It's one of those lost resorts that has had its hey day back in the 1950s.
Kirsten you are so right about Southport! Thirty years ago it was a nice genteel town but it has changed greatly and gone very much down market. I would agree with you about Formby beach though - terrific.
The beach looks a lot like our beaches here in the Eastern part of America. We like to go to the beach as often as we can. I have to admit at least one day we like to go to the boardwalk and do the arcade and the not good for you food. We ave a frozen custard place that is a must for us. We are trying to plan a trip to England for next spring and your vids are a big help.
Oh yay, you're planning a trip to the UK? That's wonderful!! So glad that my vids are helpful. Yes, Formby beach was absolutely lovely, reminded us a lot of Northern Germany. We can definitely recommend this place. As for Southport, it won't be everybody's cup of tea but I think children might love it a lot. And I think it's totally okay to indulge once in a while in 'bad' food.

This could be a beach in Australia. Beaches & the sea are very relaxing.
Having grow up in Liverpool then moved to Sydney Australia i have to say the UK has better beaches . No sharks , or poisonous octopus hiding in rock pools , . The sun is less severe , skin cancer is not a worry . The fish and chips are edible .

Yes, you should protect your skin from the sun always! That's what I learned the hard way! Since I started living in India I got several bad sun burns and developed sun spots on my face. One of those burns happened in a cloudy day with lots of wind...and me wearing no protection whatsoever!

Der Strand in Formby ist wirklich total schön, vor allem wegen der Dünen. Southport ist wirklich Geschmackssache, nicht so unser Ding. Wir wollten an dem Tag eigentlich auch was anderes machen, es ging nur leider nicht, da die Fahrt so weit war und Jörg so eine stressige Woche hatte. Oh ja, Jane Austen - ich liebe sie und ihre Bücher, war einer meiner Schwerpunkte in der Uni. Kann das Video dazu aber wahrscheinlich erst übernächstes Wochenende machen. Sorry you were not impressed with the Southport. We were there for the red squirrels at form by,shopping in Lord street. And the annual garden show. Funfairs are not our thi g either However I really enjoyed this video
