Thanks Norman for producing the excellent video of Formby. The video is more enjoyable as we just been to visit the site last Friday. Meghan seems to know every inch of the trail.

Thanks for the video. I lived in Formby (on Raven Meols Lane) for many years and didn't have a clue about the beach resort - let alone hotels! I used to play around those very sand dunes and in the rubble as a kid with my mates. It was a great place to build dens and explore. We would spend hours there until it started to get dark then made our way home for tea. I remember that the beach in the early seventies used to be closed off every now and then due to gelignite being washed ashore. I used to work a bit further along the beach as a kid at Altcar Rifle range. Marking targets and manning the red no go area flags. I think I was around 14 then. A bit later in my early teens we used to have all night parties in the pinewoods - around 30-50 of us sometimes. Until the cops used to come and close us down. Formby is a really nice place to visit. The Village has barely changed. The beach and dunes are excellent. Happy memories! Thanks

Oh great I love to learn the history of Formby. Was the lighthouse ever on the edge of the sea? Did you miss the pillbox off. I didnt know about that neuclear bunker. In the feild heading to Maghull round the corner from The Punchbowel and the Church are pipes coming out the ground in the feild are they bunkers too just before the hill? Do more vids like this please.
