On board the Hermione, La Fayette's frigate of freedom

It took 17 years to build the #Hermione, a perfect replica of the Marquis de #LaFayette's three-masted #frigate from the 18th century, on which he crossed the Atlantic to support Americans fighting for their independence. Since her launch in 2014, the ship has travelled 40,000 kilometres. For each outing at sea, the Hermione welcomes on board trainee sailors known as riggers. Professional sailors only represent a quarter of the crew. We bring you a glimpse of life on deck.

Well done video for a good overview of l’Hermione, the reproduction of Marquis de Lafayette’s frigate of freedom. The cameraman had good angles of the crew, especially in bad weather frames. I’ve had the chance to go aboard at several docks in the USA and hope to go see her in dry dock for repairs in Anglet, Bayonne, France this summer. Truly, it is a great adventure every time!
