My dad just gave me his 1979 el camino. I have to get it running and then I'll have a project! Complete amateur but i'm excited for the challenge. Your videos are going to be so helpful!! It's already had an engine swap, thankfully!
That’s awesome!! Thanks man!! Lucky you! We’re getting around to swapping out some more v6 parts to v8 parts like the front springs 😅 probably our toughest episode yet but it’ll be fun to look back at the dumb stuff we did 🤣😂 keep us in the loop about getting it running! Would love to help the best we can 😃
What radiator and fan set up did you end up getting im in the process of swapping out my v6 for a v8 350 i would like a link if possible I could not find any that would fit in my el Camino they were to big so any info would be appreciated thanks
What year is it?? Here is the fan setup we used - American Volt Duel Fan Kit - amzn.to/3MHDXxd Here is the rad we used - Check out this page from Summit Racing www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-384002 Here is a video of the install of all of it 😁 We made some brackets out of aluminum and used the original grommets. Not the prettiest but works great! I have a 81 Caballero V6 3.8L and would you happen to know how can I find the oil pressure sensor, engine temp sensor and tach? What areas of the motor do I need to look? It’s not showing up on PRODEMAND.
Oil pressure sensor should be on the. All of the block by the distributor, I think the temp sensor is on the passenger side of the block - we added a new one to the intake manifold for our electric fans and fan relay. The tach should be a wire that is coming out of your wire harness in the engine compartment back along the firewall. I do think they came stock with a tac connected so I’d you want to see your RPMs you may have to install a new gauge and connect the wiring to the distributor. Let me know if that helps 😁
@@papergatorzfedducca7998 are you using a distributed LS? Or ECU with the electronic ignition system? For that ECU I don’t think you use the tack wire. With my dad’s engine swap he just put new sensors on the clock and wired in new gauges. So if you can’t find them don’t worry about it too much.
@@theroygarage yes I’m using the LS computer. This is my first swap so I’m labeling what I think I might need for the swap before I start disconnecting wires.

WOW, once that fan shroud was removed, looked like plenty of room for either the Chevy SBC or a BBC.
Right! Enough room for twin turbos!!!
