    In this video titled EU4 A to Z - THIS Is WHAT HAPPENS When YOU PLAY OPTIMALLY I do a playthrough as Florence Europa Universalis 4 1.33 France. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Florence , and I attempt to play tall and play optimally in order to form Tuscany and then Italy. So let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future.

    Why Florence has so many Adm Advisors at the start of the game? They were real people at the Medici's Court:
    Donatello (yeah, the man from whom the ninja turtle got its name) was a famous sculptor and architech who made the David(s)
    Lorenzo Ghiberti was also a sculptor who made 2 of the bronze doors of the Florence Baptistery
    Fra' Angelico (or Guido di Pietro) was a priest who also became famous for his paintings like the "Annunciation"
    Luca Pitti was a banker and head of an influential family who helped Cosimo and also plot against the Medici's. He commissioned the construction of "Palazzo Pitti" in Florence
    Paolo Uccello (literally "Paul Bird" ah ah funny name) was a influencial Renaissance painter who studied and tried to develop an early perspective in his works. His most famous work is "The Battle of San Romano"

      The trick is to conquer the neccessary stuff for the modifiers in advance, so you can switch tag twice in a day without having to core things up in between. Also sicily is great because of the claims it gives, yes?

    • @jainabraina
      @jainabraina ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@johndoe6011 Don't even need to do that. Just unstate, form Sardinia-Piedmont, state Naples, culture shift to Neapolitan, and only then restate. That way you can finish the S-P nation tree at your leisure (since it's the longer + more powerful one) and form Two Sicilies when you're ready. In general, the second culture-shift tag swap is "free" because of this. Having fun doing this in my Provence -> Sardinia-Piedmont -> Jerusalem -> Tuscany -> Two Sicilies -> Austria game, though between Tuscany and Austria I decided to grab the Swiss and Dutch missions + events + decisions because why not - and stacking Dutch, Tuscan, Austrian, and Catholic interest reduction has been nuts. (The main reason for this route, of course, is capping the diplomatic annexation cost reduction, letting me integrate huge parts of the world really cheaply). Once the revolution hits I'm planning to form France, Morocco, and Prussia too, because I'm already forming a silly number of nations so I may as well.

  • @CharlieKellyEsq
    @CharlieKellyEsq ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I love playing florence. Like florryworry, it's my very first campaign on every dlc so I can personally get accustomed to the changes in the new patch.
    I know that country so well. My 100% optimal start is always a show strength on bologna and not setting rivals until I see his ally so I can also get a humiliate rival with them. That's an automatic 80 PP which never really drops below 50 PP until I get to big to rival neighbors.
    Day 1 rm Austria and ally the Pope so I can steal the papacy.
    After the initial show strength war, I always conquer sienna so I can get the faceting event.
    Everything is pretty fluid past that, but I usually like to nab some milanese land as well as try to take out some naples provinces so I have access to north Africa/Balkans regions.
    Around 1490-1500 I betray the pope, and take everything he has except for roma (that comes later when I'm ready to form italy.)
    After Italy is formed, I have a nice easy peasy wc if I wanted to ay it out, which I usually don't, I usually stop at forming spqr

    You've played Florence more optimally than I ever did considering I almost never manage to take Naples + Sardinia before the 1500s roll around, but one thing you could have done better was to vassalize Milan. Once you take 1 or 2 provinces from them, they end up so weak that Venice or Switzerland immediately declare war on them.
    If you vassalize them (or release if they were completely annexed) afterwards, you can declare Reconquest on Venice/Switzerland and win all of Milan's cores without having to worry about the massive AE that comes from taking high dev provinces in north Italy.
    EDIT: Also if you don't mind using points to develop your own provinces, staying in the HRE + going Economic allows you to become the #1 power easily as long as you do it before the Ottomans start blobbing out. You can also stop the Pope from excommunicating you a lot by attacking him or one of his allies, then forcing him to release some cities while taking one or two for yourself. If the Pope is too weak, he won't be able to rival you, which means he won't be interested in excommunicating you constantly.

    Fun fact, Lucca is the second best province for stacking dev discounts, second only to Hanseong, the capital province of Korea.
    Hanseong has a monument that reduces local dev cost by 25% at max, on top of being farmlands (5%) and having a center of trade giving up to 10%, adding up to a potential 40% dev cost reduction.
    Lucca is farmlands, produces cloth(10%), has a center of trade as well as there being 2 other CoTin the area. If you have Lucca as a lvl 2 CoT and either Pisa or Florence at lvl 3, that gives another 15% reduction in Lucca, adding up to 30%.
    I'm not taking into account other discounts that come from ideas or religion, except to say that you do need to be Confucian or have it as your syncretic religion to use the monument in Hanseong.

    Haven't watched this yet, but if he reqlly is going to play optimally he has to nocb byzantium day 1, full annex them, convert to orthodox, release them again, take the dev cost reduction icon, go for innovative, quantity, eco and trade

    Just a tip for AE I like: diplo-vassalizing! Italy is full of OPM’s. The pope is sitting on 2, Milan is sitting on one, Venice is sitting on a couple, Genoa has Corsica etc. If you force countries to release these instead of conquering them, then they’ll already have a high opinion of you and no AE, they’ll usually diplo-vassal (Pope is a good place to start, they’re low dev OPMs). It might be cumbersome and feel like it slows you down, but seeing as by the end its AE that’s you’re problem, I’ve found that it help speeds up uniting Italy.

      That's how I did it when I did my Florence run, conquered the Pope forced him to explode then vassalized all the OPMs

    the "if they have 50+ opinion of you they have to leave the coalition" thing, anyone got any idea why occasionally it doesn't work? I think it's especially if it's like the 2nd coalition in a short time that they joined against you or smthn?

    Nice video, after realising that the event where you punish the perpetrators of the Pazzi conspiracy remove loss of Republican tradition when re-electing or electing a relative, I will try it.
    In the last run I went Protestant but i will do like I did as Milan, stay Catholic to get easier diplomacy and the benefits of going the harsh stance of the council of Trent, you can get -15% war-score cost vs other religions, manpower and institution spread in catholic which is very strong compared to the conciliarism, the improve relations is only good before there will be a definitive decision on which stance they'll pick.

    you messed up when reconquering the provinces in Sicily, there is a separate tab for "reconquering" provinces that will show you blue lines on the peace deal map, but when you click the provinces like that it just conquers them albeit cheaper because the person taking them has cores on them
    there is a difference tho

    Florence is one of the most carefree and beginner friendly nations in the game. You can not lose. Money falls into your lap, institutions spawn on you or two feet next door, you get an event chain for a 6/6/6, and youre spack dab in the middle of the mediterranean. I can see why most think its so fun.

    It is pronounced seegnoreea, signora as you say it means lady in italian, while signoria I think it means "land of a signore" ( signore translates to mister/sir but in this case it refers to the guy who rules over the land)

    Malta forts don't suck ! War score cost -15% vs other religion is good in Europe once reformation/protestant appears, or if you want to expand into North Africa (which Malta give you access too).
