- In this video titled EU4 A to Z - I BEAT The HARDEST DISASTER In THE GAME I play as Mali in Europa Universalis 4 1.35 Domination. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Mali and I attempt to get the Abu Bakr II's Ambition achievement. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. 7:00 This mission needs to be done at the very start of the game.
Estates start at 50 loyalty. You give out all privileges except the mana privileges and wait until they're 55 loyalty. Do anything you can to appease them during this time, but it shouldn't take too long.
Once they are all at 55 loyalty, immediately call the diet to make them go over 60, give out the mana privileges and buy advisors. Then you can take both missions at the same time and stop the revolts.
But you cant do that mission at the start of the game, unless your saying the first 20 years. The requirements to do it are all the other missions before. Most of them require mana points to develop. I dont get it

Actually you can get rid of the first 2 missions without unpaussing the game. My strategy was to give +1 mana in diplo and militar, then you sell titles and take burgher loans and with that money you hire 3 advisors lv 2. The third one is not possible to complete early because you have to dev Gabu, so I recomend at the start of the game to focus deving Gabu rather than deving both gold mines.

You can just sell titles on Day 1. It means you can't get all of the mana point privileges straight away (and accordingly will have to hire an extra level of advisor to satisfy the first mission) but it's not that big a deal.

The Malwa Sultanate was established as the former governor of the area under the Delhi Sultanate broke free as Delhi declined, even if the initial Ghorid dynasty were still de-facto under Delhi. The first ruler of the Khalji dynasty and Malwa's starting ruler in-game, Mahmud I, was at war with Rana Kumbha of Mewar, and fought many battles against him both before and after 1444 (the ones before 1444 were both Mewari victories), and would bring the Malwa Sultanate to it's height, which was then followed by a peaceful reign under his successor, before Malwa would be conquered by Gujarat in 1531. The Malwa Sultanate would have a small resurgence after, but this was short-lived as the Mughals would conquer Malwa in 1570, and the resurgent sultanate never recovered.
So your objectives as Malwa should be:
- Have your first war be against Mewar and win OR make Mewar and Gujarat not exist before your starting ruler dies
- Complete the Malwa mission tree
You can day 1 do the "Gain Estate Favors" mission.
1. Hire level 2 advisors for all slots, grant the mana privilege only for Amirs and Merchant Guilds. Complete the "A Compete Court" misison.
2. Sell titles, then hit mission complete for "Gain Estate Favors".
The starting king having 1 adm skill is what makes it possible.
Since low crown land is easy to refill, it doesn't really set you back that much admin and makes the rest of the run much smoother.
I have tried to play as Mali multiple times, but for some reason I always get invaded by Castille who has 60,000 troops around the time I finish the disaster or nearly finish it.
Same, castille never expands there that early unless I’m playing as Mali it’s so frustrating finally getting your shit together only to get steamrolled

Mali is actually one of my most played nations, because i really like to suffer apparently. I just had the luckiest game where i managed to speedrun the disaster and end it in about 20 years. Totally not my merit lmao really lucky rng and really stupid AI

I remember releasing Mali once as vasall since they have some cores and i thought powerful ally. They went into the disaster and couldn't stop it as vasall.
One of PDX's shittiest mistakes, they tried making it realistic but gave AI no chance to survive thru that complicated MT to end the disaster.

They aren't the same nation, they just have the same name, the present day mali was created by the french.
I have been waiting for you to do a Mali game for ages. Hopefully now I will have a better idea of how to get around the disaster for the achievement.

In my Mali game Castile colonized that one province in Brazil you get from the mission as their first colony ever in the new world, exactly one month before I took the mission. Classic AI always knowing what to do to screw you over.

I still had to do an extra war to fully annex Wagadugu and Bonoman to get to the 350. And I also was at -3 stab, as the "Scandal in Mali" event triggered so often

Getting a bit too much clickbait in your titles. This disaster is not hard to deal with.
I don't know why you kept Timbuktu alive in one province (which you do with a lot of nations for whatever reason) when you could've given it to songhai who you were going to declare war on anyways and is such a useless province that it wouldn't make them any more powerful, instead of having to deal with the truce and then go to war for one province (that sucks)
I also like to keep nations alive as an opm. It is very useful to use them to attack their allies you may have truces with.

Mali would be a lot harder if they didn't have the ability to *print money*
I didn't have to take a single loan in my playthrough, though i struggled quite a lot with the crisis of the constant rebellions (i was also poorly prepared for the mali missions)
I built up a rediculous tolerance for heathens and abused the dhimmi estate, having 100% religious unity my entire game also thanks to the mali tolerance mission.
Sunni is very versatile and i enjoyed it thoroughly as an aftrican state in eu4

How do you deal with the massive combined cost of coring Japan? Most of my Japan runs, by the time I'm done unifying the place I'm still on admin 4 but mil 7, with most of the country still only territorial cores. Is there some secret sauce other than concentrating dev and going for admin ideas that I'm not aware of?

Man, they made Mali a lot more interesting! It used to be so bland! I love the mission that gives you the colony in Brazil
I gave out primacy of whatever estates the first Mansa was lacking points in and then sold titles, a one-two punch for those first missions
You should consider following up this run and do the other achievement.

Tried this Mali game a couple weeks ago, thinking it would be a fun, breezy, campaign, with a little challenge at the beginning. Thought I was doing okay, until I went bankrupt at six loans. Beware autonomy!
Kinda interesting to have a nation with a unique disaster right at the start that you need to get rid of with missions. I like it. I feel like mechanics like this should be incorporated into more mission trees.
there are couple of nations with disaster starts.
majapahit has hard disaster start.
that is not impossible to deal with it, but is extremely satisfying to do.

More seriously tho it is good that this series finally left south-east-asia for now xD
Maaan, in my run I was really unlucky because Castille's first colony was Pernambuco and I couldn't reach Brasil with Diplo tech 5. So I had to wait until Diplo tech 7 but for that moment all brazilian coast was already colonized by Castille and Portugal so I had to fight both of them to take the provinces. After sieging Morocco (I don't know why Morocco was alied both Castille and Portugal) I managed to get the score to peace out and get a few provinces in brasil and they got rly mad with me and declared me their rival. The problem was for that moment they already had almost all coast line in all colonie regions so I had to fight them again (and in this case Morocco wasn't allied to them).
After more than a hundred years I managed to get my last colonie with the help of the Ottomans and complete de achivement, it was surprisingly fun but I don't think I would play again that country because I already got the second achivement too. In fact is really easy, you can see in your video you are winning already 55 ducats every month, just have to save money until 10k and gave it to a great power.
With missions you can automatically get a colonist to colonize in SA.
