Great video. As someone who cares a lot about lore, it's kinda baffling how historically few shows have actually tried expanding on it, when you'd think that the given world is the interesting part you'd want to put in a show, you know, after you remove the gameplay aspect from a game.
Thank you, and indeed. It feels like a missed opportunity to not try and build on the lore of games more often.

I've probably heard it elsewhere, but it's a crime that I don't hear it more often, so I'm just doing a public service.
Oh god, this unlocked a buried core memory. I think i had a vhs recording of that half live action/half animated Mario show when i was like, under 5 years old. Except i could not speak or understand English yet. I just remember watching the cartoon and getting upset when the strange real men would show up and speak gibberish. Fever dream esque i swear

As a kid I always wanted Luigi to be blue because it was my favourite colour and he was my favourite character. When I first saw the original movie on TH-cam seeing him blue immediately brought up that memory, kid me didn't know what he was wishing for.

And sorry for the MK slander. I think in the video I came off a lot harsher torwards it than how I actually feel, which is that I think the OG movie is a lot of fun for what it is.
Great video! Nice to see the Angry Birds movie getting some love. It was mostly produced by the same company that developed the games as a different interpretation of the universe they had built in the official comics and webseries.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the sequel, it had the quality of a regular Illumination movie but received a lot of positive reviews.
I recorded footage of Angry Birds 2 but just forgot to add it to the timeline lol
I'm still blown away at how disloyal the House of the Dead movie is to the source material. I mean, the lore of the games isn't crazy deep, but it *is* present and I argue could be expanded upon and made into a decent flick. Dr. Curien is a pretty interesting villain; he has a tragic backstory that isn't divulged much. Honestly, I would love to just see a Joker-esque film about Curien's life, him going insane and how that led to the events of House of the Dead 1.
That's a good basis for a film idea right there. Curien really is the secret protagonist of the series.

I know it came out very recently but the Twisted Metal TV show was a amazing adaptation even if it goes on in it's own direction

I agree that a Nintendo cinematic universe isn't the play and would be destined to fall apart. It would inevitably lead to continuity issues and limit the scope of the overall narrative. Every new story would be shackled to each previous entry, diminishing creative liberty as more films are made. If they're going to eventually adapt more games into films, they're better off being separate.
People are also in general just tired of cinematic universes

It is likely that Nintendo would make their own end game and infinity war cuz the legend of zelda video game adaption announced,pikachu and mario having a movie. Sonic also(i know hes not a nintendo character but sega sayed they would love a movie adaption collab
Okay, but how would they make live-action Zelda mesh with CG Illumination Mario?
It's hilarious how in every vudeo game adaptation videos, everyone just collectively forgets Dota Dragon's Blood despite it having 3 seasons. I don't blame anyone, it was aggressively mediocre, which would have made it shine in the mid 2010s, but not in the current adaptation renaissance we have right now.
Ah, I tried to include as many things as possible, but I knew some things would be left out. I'm not experienced with DOTA so I don't think I'd have much to say either way, especially since the show is mediocre.
I'mma be real, the Angry Birds movie was the first video game movie I saw where I thought 'hey, this is pretty good!' but was unimpressed by the sequel.
Imo, the critic scores on RT for the first and second films should be the other way round. I'd rather take the underrated piss joke in 1 over the meh snot joke in 2.
