  • We head to Tasmania's stunning north east coast and the best campsite of our three week van trip to Tasmania and our Big Lap ‪@nextleveloz‬
This week we go from Cockle Creek, drop into the wooden boat centre, then to the Tasman Peninsula, then Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires. On the way google maps sends us up a rough forestry road, we have to stop do some administration, collect some vital (coffee) supplies 🤣😉 sent ahead to us at a Post Office and - do find our worst ever free camp?? 🤷‍♂️
Welcome to our Big Lap Gap Year. We're David and Paula @NextLevelOZ. Like many of you, we've worked hard for 40 years, but we are too young to retire. So we're taking a gap year from work, we've bought our first ever caravan and are doing a Big Lap around Australia taking in the iconic destinations of our fabulous country.
This channel is for fun and to share our trip of a lifetime and if we get enough subscribers and watch time on our videos, 100% of any ad revenue earned will go to charity.
We'd love your comments, questions and tips. We hope you will like and subscribe and we look forward to sharing our journey around this magnificent country.

    Another great video David.
    Seeing the content from
    Coles Bay
    Wineglass Bay
    Freycinet National Park
Was particularly good, as I’ve been there, and had a fantastic time exploring and enjoying that area.
    👍

Thanks Stephen, its a lovely part of the country. Like our whole Tasmania leg we’d liked to have spent more time in each location. Its hard getting the balance right in a 20 something minute video. we mostly want to share with family and friends where we’ve been, but we also get regular questions about the van, van life etc and we are happy to share that because we got our van only 12 months ago ourselves and we found some of that as useful as the terrific places we can go. Thanks for watching and the feedback. Its much appreciated.

Interested to know what you do to dispose of the composted waste when you need to?

Fully composted it can go to landfill in a rubbish bag and an extra large size reinforced garbage bag is better for emptying it any way or if in the bush you can bury it. Apparently some people empty it into their compost bins when at home. We’ve only emptied while on the road.

Another great vid guys, just a question with your Truma Heater. I have just had the same heater installed but noticed that our Control Panel has to have the clock reset every time its turned on. Could you advise if you have to do the same thing or if not, how is your control panel wired so it doesn't lose the clock time when the caravan is powered down. Safe travels :)

Thanks Gary. Cracking good question. We don’t fiddle with the timer and clock because when you muck it up or forget the timer is on it’s really hard resetting it and we’ve had a couple of times where we couldn’t get the heater to start. So we don’t reset the clock not use it as a clock. We manually turn the heater and hot water on as we need it (about 20-25 minutes before we want to have a shower for instance) and the space heater heats up the van pretty quickly when it’s needed, so we’ve tended to turn it on for a short while in the evening on the colder days and it’s my job when so get up to make the morning coffee to turn it on on the cold mornings 😂😉. When we had our van stored we powered everything down and isolated the batteries and the solar. So anything needing power all resets and loses power. So the heater for us does the job fine but sorry - we don’t tinker with the clock and timer functions.

How do you stop your gas alarm going off all the time in the zone when you are all closed up with heater on ?

    • @nextleveloz

Hi, we are very rarely completely closed up as we like our ventilation so usually at least one of the vents in the main cabin are open and the vent in the shower is just about always ripen. The gas alarm has never gone off for us while using the heater (noting we use it for short stints). The alarm has gone off with fly spray, and in that case we turned the fans and vents on and open some windows until it vented itself. cheers

Ha Ha. We had some chilly weather on Tas and some good weather. Bay of Fires was great. Back on the mainland now and chasing the sun. Thanks for watching and the comment- we appreciate it.
