29 years ago, one blustery November evening, I proposed to my wife here. This place meant so much to us. I even have a painting of it hanging in the living room. She passed last year. I have to get back here sometime, but it won't be easy.
This brought a tear to my eye! I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope one day you’ll be able to go back to this wonderful little church. Thank you for sharing.
My wife and I so often visited this dear little church, walking up through fields .... golden cornfields in late summertime. We had a static caravan on the cliffs at nearby Seaford for dozens of years. Now in our 80s, such activities are past since 2017. So good to see this snippet reminder of so many happy times and memories. One that has stayed in our minds is seeing half a dozen red admiral butterflies, wings wide open, sunning themselves on the hedge next to the footpsth beside the corn. Wonderful. And the cream teas after our walks at the nearby tearooms!
Lovely little church. You have put together a 3 minute snippet of wonderful history with atmospheric and appropriate music. Well done Jake and merry Christmas!!!
I am in Texas, USA. A storm system is making its way across the country. The storm will pass me by, but it's cold with a bitter strong wind. I stumbled across your video and it took me away from the sound of the howling wind in my attic. I had the good fortune to study religious architecture and seeing something like this is like finding a little jewel. Thank you so much for bringing it to light.
My friend and I tried to find this last year. We will try again next, but the nearby Church more than made up for our disappointment with gorgeous stain glass windows, which were replaced due to a fire years before.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to film this for us. I'm not struck on background music but I didn't think it was too loud. Pretty fed up of the keyboard warrior trend nowadays. People who are rude only show themselves up. Keep going and well done for not rising to them x You do you, others on the internet film in different ways. Whether it's better or not is simply opinion not fact ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words, and taking the time to watch and comment on the video, I really appreciate it. And your kind words brought a tear to my eye, thank you and have a wonderful Christmas! 😊
Don't let ivy grow over it! I saw some growing up one of the walls towards the end of the clip. Ivy is a very aggressive and destructive plant, and will actually grow through the stonework and split it apart. Its roots will also undermine the foundations and cause damage there too. A lot of people think that ivy looks cute or quaint when it grows up a building, but trust me, I have seen the damage it causes; please get rid of it ASAP!
@ValAllOver Ivy chokes trees as well as being destructive to buildings, but when my neighbour had Ivy growing all over her house, it invaded her roof-space, and became an easy route for rats and mice to get into her attic. Like you, I absolutely loathe the plant.
visit a very nice tiny church of nearly the same type is Sutton Veny old church in Wiltshire - no harmonium but sometimes Serpent fiddle and concertina
If you will forgive a gentle correction, this is a consecrated Christian Church set aside for Sacrament and Word. A worship space could be a student bedroom or indeed a garden. Kindest Wishes God Bless You.
A lucky survivor, the building is the remains of the chancel of a larger church, which is believed to have been razed by fire in Cromwellian times. Just a couple of miles from my cousin's place.
The “smallest church” is much debated. Some would not count this one because it is only part of the original church, but others would consider that fact irrelevant!
Llanilltern 5th Century Glamorgan, St Non ( St David's) 5th Century, early Christian are in abundance in Wales and are small, because they are so old, St Cynwen ( Mynydd Baiden ) Glamorgan is dated from the early 3rd Century, destroyed by the Normans in the early 12th Century, because of its 7th Century effigy to Brenin Arthyr yr Brenin Meurig. The Church of St Maldwyn ( Malo) at Bryntirion was half the size of that Church, 2nd Century, destroyed by the Forces of King Charles in the Civil War because of its Puritan base. There are dozens more if you are allowed to look.
There is a tiny church on the beach in Rhos on Sea, North Wales between Colwin Bay and Llandudno. Not sure but it might be the same size or possibly even smaller the last time I was there was about 1955
Wow! I’ll make sure that’s on the list! It looks like me and Milo are going to be travelling all over the country! Thank you so much for your recommendation! 😊 have a wonderful Christmas
@@hightmedia Have a look at the book by Dirk Bogarde called Great Meadow, about his childhood at the cottage next door to the church. He mentioned the church and the surrounding area.
Lordy lordy, poor choice of words yes 16 feet squared is 256 sq.ft., which is roughly 25sq.m. But you call it meters "square" as opposed to "squared" makes one think it is 16sq.ft. or 5sq.m. You could have chosen terms clearer.

It's so nice to see young people taking an interest in these things 👍 👍

I thought the smallest church in England was in Wasdale Valley in the Lake District? Even so, this is a lovely video....thanks for uploading..❤🫠
Nice snippet of history. Great views.
Glad you enjoyed it! :)

Excellent film.
Thank you! 😊
There's another tiny (Saxon) church in Bradford on Avon, 25ft by 13ft. (St Lawrence).
There’s a tiny church in Galashiels , Selkirkshire called Gala Aisle. I believe it’s the smallest in Scotland.

Ivy is invasive indeed! I hate that plant! 😅

Interesting video. The background music is perfect. Gentle yet stirring. Great job!
❤❤❤ lovely
I want one ! Happy new year to beautiful Sussex. 🌹
I'd have no idea this place existed if it weren't for TH-cam randomly recommending this video.
@@deoproximo1572 I guess I’ve got TH-cam to thank for that! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and hopefully you’ll be able to visit!
Have you checked out St Beuno's Church, Culbone ?
I haven’t! But thank you that’s been added to my list! Any recommendations are extremely welcome! Thank you!

lovely little church has made me subscribe, Merry Christmas from NZ
Beautiful tiny worship space, would like longer views inside and quieter music, but a GOOD first effort. Thanks 😊
Thank you! We’ll make sure the music is quieter for the next one! Merry Christmas!
I agree, would liked to have seen more of the inside, and more slowly…it’s so interesting!

There’s a tiny one on the coast or wales rhos on sea !
St Margaret's Chapel in Edinburgh Castle dates back to the 11th Century and is smaller than this. Not many guests at a wedding there. !
You should do a video of the Soutra hospice, fantastic history.
Wow this looks fantastic! We’ll be up in Scotland in January so I’ll add this to my growing list! Thank you so much and have a wonderful Christmas!

@@hightmedia Have a look at the book by Dirk Bogarde called Great Meadow, about his childhood at the cottage next door to the church. He mentioned the church and the surrounding area.
Wouldn't 16 feet square be 4 feet by 4 feet?
Might be the smallest church in England?
Or it might just be the smallest church in Sussex? I guess I’ll have to find out 😉
I thought Culbone Church in Somerset was the smallest church in the UK. It's near Porlock
Across the lane.
Smallest church is in Wales
Very interesting, thank you. Unfortunately spoiled for me by the irritating, and unnecessary imo, background music.
Sorry to hear that

Perhaps you could have chosen 'clearer terms' too 😊
Everyone else knew what he meant, but it sounds like you run on rails, which I hasten to add I use figuratively.
Will soon become smallest mosque?
I’m afraid that’s not how it works.
Nooooooo
The Bald Explorer does a much better video of this church.
Thanks for your kind words.... Sadly, he has a crew. I am just one man and his dog.
@@hightmediaI enjoyed it, no was surprised by the music connection. Thank you. Keep up your efforts....a Sussex lady.
Thank you so much! Have a great Christmas! 😊
How rude. @jeanah685.
This should be the size of the ONLY token gesture mosque in the uk.
