I’m an atheist, but I will always remember one particular nun I met a few years ago. I was taken to hospital following a motorcycle accident, in the bed next to me was a very elderly nun who had taken a bad fall. Such a lovely, bubbly and funny lady. It was my first time meeting a nun, I was so surprised just how playful and almost cheeky she was, we helped each other pass the time. We spent 2 nights and 3 days talking and laughing together. We talked about anything and everything. Even played a few games of chess, although she didn’t have the energy to get up and move the pieces so I’d have to move the pieces for her. I remember some others nuns came to see her and one of them went to pull the curtain between our beds to give them some privacy and she scolded the younger nun and said “Don’t you dare pull that curtain, this young man has been my salvation” 🤣. She was moved to intensive care the following day and I later found out she had passed away shortly after. I was happy I could help keep the boredom at bay and thankful for the company and wisdom she shared.

@@allesaufanfang-sarah I'm assuming you mean what made me leave religion? Assessing my beliefs, scripture, the church and its structure (and any church for that matter). The short of it is - I was born into religious belief. It made sense and surrounded me and shaped my view of the world. When the veil was lifted and I realized I didn't actually believe anything in the Bible, it was time for me to go.
At the time I decided to leave religion entirely, it was an extreme choice due to being raised in what I believe to be a cult. That was around 10 years ago and since then I have grown to understand many things in my life to be trauma caused by religion, church, my faith and the belief structures it left me with, etc. Although I am not a believer, I can recognize and respect the beliefs of others (like Sister Gabriel). Although I wholeheartedly disagree with her belief system broadly, I value that it has led her down a path of virtue and compassion.

fanatisism, and blind fanatisism at that is not being extremely religious, is confusing an ideology, a fantasy with the real, and ultimately not understanding what's at the heart of religion. Saying something like not believing anything in the Bible lacks any sense, that has nothing to do with faith since faith has very little to do with engaging in propositions of fact.

And through all of the judgement, the world putting me on trial and branding me as a villain, and the sheer trauma of court and prison, the Poor Clare nuns I once almost joined did nothing but LOVE ME and PRAY FOR ME through it all. When I started my sentence in jail, they were the first ones to write me a letter. I didn’t think I’d be released, but two years ago God granted me an early release and I went home on the Feast of St. Francis. My Poor Clare monastery was the first place I went to after getting out. No, I don’t think so.
When she said that she doesn’t know what happens after death. Do you think Jesus in heaven was clapping?
I would say that she blasphemed actually by denying the existence of heaven, she denies our Lords ascension into that place. Blasphemy.
You can know the truth with certainty God has given us rationality to come to that truth .
He has not left his church without vindication look to the many miracles . Jesus, death, resurrection, and ascension heavenly.
Look to the many miracles done by the church I recommend Fatima Guadalupe Lourdes.
      The gospels are eyewitness accounts.
I’ve asked people to do this for me, but compare a few months of miracles at Fatima to this man called Sathya Sai Baba if you go online, Reddit loves this guy. You have no idea how many times I’ve heard the words you should convert to Hinduism being directed at Christians because apparently we have double standards.
I made my determination very obvious to me. Fatima is far more worthy of belief. I find this very funny that when you ask chat, GPT, he agrees with me.. I know it’s a little unfair comparing a lifetime of miracles to just a few months you would think that with such a large span, he would be able to produce even one miracle worthy of consideration I mean the atheist online seem to think that our miracle claims are in the same camp as his they’ve got some blinders on. I told you I asked the AI his answer almost a carbon copy for mine. It’s not bias that leads me to the church. It’s not biased that leads me to Jesus. It’s the truth. It’s the Holy Spirit. It’s God himself.
Who wants to be Catholic nowadays seriously who wants to be a priest who wants to be a nun only those who are most dedicated.

Yes there definitely were abuses. A friend of mine who was a priest, who has now passed, confirmed it to me. I received an insider perspective on how they dealt with it. Those people would be weeded out of the church asap! The problem is that there will always be people who will slip between the cracks. Either way, I still hold anyone who is a member of the church (priest or nun) somewhat responsible for it. Why would anyone want to associate themselves with an establishment with the kind of record of abuse? There were equally many who knew and turned a blind eye. My own mother was a victim of such abuse and all the nuns she worked for knew about it. They all remained silent. If hell exists they're definitely burning in it.
The Catholic Church is the remnants of the Roman Empire, hence the results. They play around with pagan rituals and what they would refer to as witchcraft. Next time you're in a Catholic Church, one that is actually ordained by the Vatican, ask the priest to remove the white cloth covering the alter. When you see the stone embedded within the alter ask them about it. There will be a little area carved out of the stone and filled in with plaster. Now ask them what's inside that plaster. Good luck! 😉 If the church wants to survive it's time they do what Jesus said, follow the man carrying the water-pitcher into the new house. In other words, it's time for the church to reform itself into the 21st century. The age of Pieces is over. Turn the page.

She is a lovely person and follows the 2 most important commandments #1 Love God #2 love each other.
The answer to how will it look when Christ returns is found in Daniel and revelation.
Apostasy will be at its height. False/ phony "teachers / ministers" are many, Heresies flood the church do you must arm yourself with knowing the word because the Truth gets stomped down. He will return in a quick flash and claim His kingdom of followers for the renewal of the earth.
The answer to Does God forgive all sins is a bit more than Yes... He forgives if you repent. There is one sin He does not called " the unpardonable sin" - blasphemy of the holy spirit.
Wolves are in every church . The Roman Catholic Church was not a friend of the Christians or Jews.

Im sure God would be pleased that you are using your intelligence. Perhaps the reason that you struggle with this is a misunderstanding. Be a good and kind person, follow your intuition and do not fear. I hope that it works out for you x

One of the things I'm most grateful for when it comes to religion is that I had a wonderful teacher, himself a catholic priest, who was adamant that questioning wasn't a bad thing at all - in fact he wanted us to question everything, especially things he said. He not only taught me critical thinking skills, he also removed so much stress around the idea of faith for me, because I never really developed the idea faith had to be blind. Instead I learned that sometimes if you question something, you actually come to the conclusion that this is the right thing for you (or to do), but now you stand behind it with more conviction. Forbidding questions just makes you scared.
And a god who only loves you if you're perfect and never have any questions at all, is not a god worth believing in and it is certainly not the god I believe in.

No where in Scripture does it say, don't ask, don't be curious. It is more about this being your world to discover, study, enjoy, and share. Only the smartest people say *I don't know* because they have a clue as to how much more there is to know. How little we know, how much there is to learn.
Of what God has said in Scripture, we know God loves us. How that is played out in our lives is our adventure to find out. We are loved with all our dreams, and all our failures. He is with us, we are not alone.

Jesus provides vindication for everything that he claims by his life, death, resurrection, and ascension into heaven
His church continues to verify and vindicate his claims by the miracles that they do through his power
I highly recommend you look into Fatima Portugal, or Lords France, the shroud of Turin, our Lady of Guadalupe and the miraculous Tilma just look into the miracles that Christ church still does today and as well, I want you to study seriously the eyewitness nature of the gospels as well, the very early attestation that we have towards The truth of the Christian faith can be found not just in the Bible alone, but also in many adjacent documents, such as the didache
I think the only reason that this woman would have to say that she doesn’t know is because she is poorly catechized, but the truth is out there. All you have to do is look for it. God gave us rational minds so that we could come to know him by rationality he gave us faith so that we could keep, our eyes on him all the time when we’re faced with insurmountable circumstances that our rationality cannot conquer.
I asked an atheist to do this for me earlier I’m going to ask for you to do the same thing you have the same problem just a different degrees.
I want you to compare the miracles at Fatima Portugal 1913 to all the miracles of Sathya Sai Baba a little unfair I know comparing a whole lifetime of miracles to just a few months worth, but I really do mean I dare you to find even one competing non-Christian miracle claim that is even worth looking at. I asked the AI to compare Sathya Sai Baba to Fatima I would give you the whole reply, but just know he found Fatima to be much more likely ask yourself.
If you’ve never heard of this guy before I highly recommend you read his Wikipedia article or just type in his name in Google and then Reddit afterwards Reddit loves this guy, especially r/atheism and all the skeptics on the Christianity and Catholic boards too. Not the cream of the crop, I know, but One conceive very clearly the argument that they’re going for. I just also see very clearly how it leaks water as a sinking ship.

My 9th grade religion teacher in Catholic School encouraged us to question. She told us to be afraid of and avoid anything that doesn’t like questions. The Church welcomes honest questions and gives honest answers and that is a good thing. Questioning is how we learn and grow. I remember she even said we can be upset with God when things aren’t making sense! As she put it, “He is a big boy. He can handle it.” If we are upset. Honest questions are a sign you are seeking the truth! That is a good thing! You are not supposed to blindly follow because a blind following of God would be so shallow and weak. You wouldn’t get to know God very well that way.

I’ve done gardening for the convent she is from. What a small world! All the sisters I met there were some of the kindest people I’ve met 🙏

The Fransiscan nuns have been a big part of our community here in the Faroe Islands. Some of them worked in my kindergarten and school. We are all very sad that their ministry now has ended and that they don't get to live the rest of their lives here, but as one sister said, "We go where God calls us. He still has a plan for us". I respect that ❤

Someone needs to give her a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale and get her to tell a few stories, because I think she's got a few. I love how thoughtful she is in her answers and she radiates a kind of genuine goodness with a cheeky side.

This was incredible. I found her honesty and willingness to say “I don’t know” so incredibly refreshing. It almost makes me think I could actually believe again in a different way. Her love, joy, peace, (and I’m sure the other fruit as well) shined through her and made me feel more at peace. And her sense of humor was awesome! She is obviously very intelligent and well educated. My faith has dissipated over the last decade, but there is so much I could learn from this woman and should seek to emulate.

So good to hear her honesty and bravery speaking out against wrong dooers within her church. Shes a fantastic person. Its very sad to hear she was spat at. When I visited Vatican City, my wife was spat at by what appeared to be a nun. It was vile. Hate is hate whatever your creed. Our son is called Gabriel as well!
