What a wonderful story! Similarly, I accepted Christ at age thirteen. I sold a telescope and did lawn work all summer to save up to buy a Cambridge Concord Wide Margin Bible. 51 years later, I still own that Bible with its split binding and faded notes. I am so glad you shared your premium Bible story! I support your new Bible recommendations 100%. Thank you and God bless you.

I just ordered a Schuyler goatskin green with matching notebook.
    I'm so excited!
I've been reading KJVstore note takers Bible. It's going to be a lifetime note taker while I read the Schuyler.
You explaining cell phone purchases put it instantly in perspective of why a quality Bible is well worth it. Thank you

Ironic I found your video today. I just recently discovered premium Bibles, probably within the last week or so. I found the Schuyler Treveris, and decided that was what I wanted. I just sold my PS4 today and ordered my Treveris. You're exactly right about some of the things we spend money on. I'm just as guilty of it as anyone. So many of us view so much stuff as disposable or easily replaceable.

Funny how my journey is similar. I was about to embark on collecting android phones (imagine that!) Not the cheap ones either..stumbled upon diff vids on quality bibles..and here i am! I am slowly building my bible collection and rebinding some of my old bibles that has my notes.

@@grit1679 Yep. I spent more on my TV than either of my first two vehicles. lol I ended up selling the Treveris and buying a Canterbury. But I've had it for a year now. Premium Bibles aren't expensive when you factor in the fact that you'll read it every day for years, hopefully.

Got saved this last January praise God and started collecting Bible's a few months ago, looking for the perfect one to be my go-to. So far the most premium Bible's in my collection are the Thomas Nelson Preachers Bible, Ministers Bible and the genuine leather from their Sovereign Collection. Also have a genuine leather Tyndale, Holman, a 1611 Hendrickson, Rock of Ages Prison Ministry, Humble Lamb and my 3 most prized so far, The Common Man's Reference Bible, Ruckman Reference Bible and just got my first CBP today. All of the above are leather bound, calfskin, goatskin and/or lambskin and all KJVs. I've also got a few inexpensive ones from Nelson but am hooked on Bible reviews and collecting. Hinting to my wife to get me a Canterbury for Father's day. Thanks for sharing, loved your story and video! Also been buying up dollar store Bible's to hand out along with tracts :-)

I have my eyes on an Allen myself. Either 53 or 63 goatskin. I have the same Nelson 12 point goatskin. And its good but, doesnt feel like its gonna last. The Nelson thinline premium 10 point, is far more solid, and I really like that its a much more manageable size. Same 36gsm paper too.
I really like the 36gsm paper nelson uses. And I dont think I could go alot thinner without feeling like im going to rip it from touching it. I think 32gsm may be the thinnest I can stand. And from what I hear. Allen bibles paper is second to none.

Aaron, thank you for sharing your premium bible journey. In 1990, my first bible was a free hard cover KJV provided by the Gideons, which was used to help me engage Christ, the living Word. In recent years, I, too, have enjoyed purchasing premium bibles. Jehovah God spared no expense with regard to the finest materials used in the construction of the tabernacle of His presence ( Exodus, chapters 25-28 ). And, while not a requirement, when affordable, I delight in utilizing a bible made of the finest materials in honor of the God of the word.

I think the favorite premium in my stash is a Cambridge Pitt Minion, with my Allan Clarendon 8 coming in close second.
If you'd have asked me a few years ago if I'd be buying expensive bibles, I'd be like nah, unless it's a study bible I'll stick to the $10, $20 el-cheapos. But between buying a few premiums and semipremiums (heck, I got a semipremium at Ollie's for $27) and getting a ton of 'em gifted to me...well, I still prefer hardbacks, but a good premium's nice to have and an excellent conversation starter.

Enjoyed the video. Someone in my home Bible fellowship group gave an analogy that goes like this. Someone who truly loves Baseball pretty much knows all there is to know about the sport. They will buy baseball history books, collect cards, study the baseball encyclopedia and will know many details about every season. Some of us who love God's word are that way as well. When we love God's word we tend to wear out Bibles. Some stick with a Bible for many years and focus on the contents which is should be priority one for all of us to be doers and not hearers or readers only. I used to read all the versions about 32 years ago but for the last 25 years have only read the KJB because I just believe it and think all of those words, phrases, and verses missing from the new versions should be in the Bible. As a result there is less confusion in remembering God's word and have been memorizing without trying. So because I love the KJB I am also very interested in all the history and the typesets of the KJB as a hobby that goes along with my bigger priority which is being transformed by the renewing of my mind and increasing faith in God.
Another thing when it comes to spending some extra money acquired from labour (Ecc 2:24), beautiful and functional Bibles are just more enjoyable for me to spend money on than other things. For example some do expensive vacations and I do not. Not to say vacations are bad as some who spend money on vacations and have only one simple Bible may read it as much or more than me. We are all different by design and some of us like to collect nice Bibles. There is something that should be the same for all of us priority wise, Mk 12:30, Jn 6:28-29.

The first bible I ever bought for myself was, and still is, a burgundy, Thompson chain reference, genuine leather, NKJ. I still use it a lot even though I’ve gone back to the king James as my main version again. Doing so also has led me to discovering CBP! What a tremendous blessing they are! In the 8 or so weeks I’ve known about them I’ve already purchased 5 of their bibles!🤪. My wife is very gracious about it. Now I’ve also got my eyes on a premium bible, a Cambridge, Schuyler or Allan. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Curious, how did God direct you to a specific bible? Did God speak audibly to you or was it a "feeling" from God in your heart? Would love a scripture verse to help me understand how to hear from God besides The Word of God.

Oh yeah! Want a Schuyler Canterbury. The floppy cover, full yap, and drop caps, but WAY out of my league. I have a Thomas Nelson Premier Collection brown goatskin NKJV and a large print Kirkbride Thompson Chain with authentic leather cover and a handy size Thompson with bonded leather. I have others, but these are my favorites. Love that Canterbury.

    • @faithtowalkministries132
      @faithtowalkministries132  ปีที่แล้ว

With the titanium mixed it it is still highly opaque. I think the biggest complaint is that turning the pages was easier with the 36 gsm paper. You have to learn the characteristics of the 28 gsm a little. I’m used to it now.
