    As an owner of all 3;
the text block of the Cambridge Cameo is unmatched,
the leather & paper of Schuyler is unmatched,
and the study helps & overall design of Allan’s are unmatched.
    In my humble opinion.

Thanks for this video Tim. I had bought the Schuyler Treveris Tuscany Calfksin about a year ago and it just didn’t fit me too well. This past week, I traded it for a Cambridge Concord. I absolutely love it, though I wish it was the full yapp like my Schuyler.
Without a doubt, each of these makes hold their own in specific areas. Would love to own all 3 one day.

My only knock on the Allan text block is it does not italicize added words.
Otherwise I'd go with the Allan 53 over the Turquoise for my "if you could only pick one" choice.

I own the cheaper version of the KJV mcclaren version, but with these I Love the RL Allen long primer it is a beautiful Bible. I also like all the additions at the back of the Bible. Many newer Bibles are barely including anything but a few maps nowdays. I do like verse by verse and center or inside column references. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us all these. Take care

For me, I would have to go with the Schuyler Treveris. Single column paragraph is my favorite Bible format, and the KJV is my favorite translation. Sadly, there aren't many single column paragraph KJV editions available on the market. But I've gotten two so far: The Cambridge Clarion and the New Cambridge Paragraph Bible. Go, Cambridge!!

Among those Bibles I’ve got the Cambridge Turquoise, the Concord, and the Topaz. And looking at the others, my favourite is still the Turquoise because of its next to each corresponding verse reference system and its vintage feeling. I’ve got the Turquoise in black goatskin and black calfskin full yapp (a.k.a. “The Yapple”), and the latter is currently my favourite Bible in English language.
If I could make a ranking of the 3 favourites among those shown in the video: 1. Cambridge Turquoise; 2. Allan Longprimer; 3. Cambridge Topaz.

  • @JonnyRaz234

    Great video as always, Tim.
I have had all of those at one point-plus the PSC and WMC. Now I only have the Schuyler Canterbury in the classic size. All were great. I am excited that Schuyler is going to do an edition with the Apocrypha.
The Cameo is another classic look hand-sized with a lot of the same bells and whistles as the other vintage editions-Allan of course has similar hand sized editions with that old world feel.
The New Cambridge Paragraph Bible and the Clarion are nice alternatives to the Treveris in less of a modern hybrid reader format-plus they are a little more economical.
I didn’t intend to write that much.

I would think the KJV is still popular enough to warrant printing it in a premium format. Schuyler recently printed the old RSV and had a good run and interest with it. I'm interested to see if what is offered by these printers for the KJV is similar to what is offered for the newer ones, like the ESV, NIV, NLT, etc.

Dude, this comparison made it easy for me. While I would love a full yapp. The Cambridge Turquoise text being so bold, looks great and easy to read. I have a KJV store one, and the font is just...not to my liking at all. My 2 Nelsons with the nice comfort print are very nice and easy to read. My personal preference would be a kind of burgundy colour, with super giant print, at least 16 point type face, with centre column that has cross references, and the ability to add pages. It would be nice also to have one that numbers the Books, Chapters and Verses of the Bible, and even one that has details on every verse, showing, for instance, what number verse it is, how many words, letters, and how many words and letters to date. I like Bibles that have what I call " Goodies " in them, that is, the charts, maps, tables, concordances. histories - the extra things that Tim was talking about.

Personally, I landed on the Cambridge Concord in goatskin, because it matches us with their wide margin. I love having one Bible to study and one to take with me, that have the exact same text block for familiarity. Similar to how they publish the ESV text block identical in both the Pitt Minion and wide margin.
Having seen the Concord and Longprimer side by side before buying my own, I much prefer the Concord text block although I liked the RL Allan goatskin better.
Now, if only they would make the Concord in the Pitt Minion form factor instead of a different text block for the KJV...

Which would you go with if you could only have one ?

allen 53, cambridge concord, schuyler canterbury, i think those three are solid options for a hybrid reader and study, preaching, etc. But if you want a Readers only bible go with the schuyler treveris! i do not own any of them, or i just ordered a treveris for myself in kjv But done some research. Either way you cant really go wrong with any of them. It just depends what you are using it for and what you prefer to focus more on, and how much you are willing to spend on it. Glhf sir

I have KJV with Apocrypha Cambridge Cameo, KJV Note Takers lambskin (KJV Store) and KJV Classic Wide Margin Study Bible lambskin (KJV Store).

It's too bad none of these are perfect for me. The lack of italics in the Longprimer is a dealbreaker. The lack of page headings in the Topaz is a dealbreaker. The small print in the Concord is a dealbreaker. The old font in the Turquoise is a dealbreaker. The lack of translation notes in the Canterbury is a dealbreaker. Am i too picky? lol

100,000 cross references? That sounds a bit high to me. If the bible was 1750 pages, that would be almost 60 per page. Am I misunderstanding how that is calculated?

Okay, not cool. How many poor KJV people are going to spend money Wednesday Night? And you even put links to your videos on specific Bibles....
What is your recommendation for the best black letter KJV that retains the italics?
By the way, I bought one of the Allan 63 "special purchase" for sale now. "Owing to technical issues with the gold foil for page edge gilding, all copies have a slightly mottled effect to the art gilding and are reduced from the usual price of £225 to £200 accordingly." ---- I could not see any issue in the one I got, so a great purchase if someone was thinking about it.

The Topaz has a cheaper "model" 😂.. same paper with a calfsplit cover. Beware tho.. Cambridge thinks that the post scripts in the epistles are inspired.. whatever.
