Adsoululty great, I'm 68 we never had racism in Glasgow I had many Asian friends we all e enjoyed the humor and were all tolerant of our backgrounds. Our lifes were hard enough all you wanted was a laugh. Good one Alan.
Absolute legend was Bernard I saw him four times 👌 he was a lovely man and like he said it’s an act and there just jokes never ever take a joke seriously, a lot of people didn’t like him because he told the Truth and well some people just don’t like that do they, but he was an absolute legend did more for charity in his own lifetime that millions of others couldn’t have done collectively and not many people mention that do they! God Bless ya Bernard you are very very badly missed 🙏💙🙏 great video this thanks for uploading ✊
about every creed and colour. I agree there's often an element of truth in the joke, but nobody was not in his firing line they don't have comedians like that nowadays. They have to be oh so careful! Thanks a lot Smithy
I was a close friend of Bernard for over 40 years. He was a great comic who just wanted to make people laugh. His wife, Vera, was a lovely Lady. I used to join them for afternoon tea at their home. He would open the door in his underpants but never used any bad language. We also joined him on holiday in Newquay. Wonderful memories.
Thank you! That's a very interesting personal story. I always thought it was very astute and funny Nice to know that it was a great guy in real life. Thank you!
Whats that supposed to mean < Stoke Mandervil hospital was a good friend to Sir Jimmy as well , y'know the place where children with dreadful illness;s get sorted all thanks to Sir Jimmy charitable donations. so are they to be included in your bullshit statement ?
Loved Bernard new him well lived near hi he did a lot for charity a great comedian used to go to his club the embassy areal nice man and great comedians new his son young Bernard rip Bernard make em laugh
Very funny man, and as you say it was all an act, did his bit for charity as well, we used to go to his club once a month at the height of his success, his spot was generally earlyish, as he would generally have a late engagement at some other venue, his place was always lively with some decent acts, he would generally do an hour or so, they were lovely nights, his place was always full every weekend.
I have played at his club in the 1960s. This was the old Cintra cinema on Rochdale Road, then the Cintra Bingo and then the Embassy. It was an audition and we didn't get the gig!
Great to know Alan! My son Chris shares his birthday 13th August (Same as Alan Shearer). My mam was also a Mary Ellen too! Bernard Manning wow! Back in the days you could get away with murder. In person these people were just human like us! ❤. Keep up the great work Alan. ❤ya
Unfortunately I never had the pleasure to see Bernard live but do love his material a true one off he was, I seen the beyond the grave footage very moving when he talks about his mum bless him he had a big heart, would of been honored to have met him he was a good man, he did indeed do lots for charity but never got the recognition he should of. He done full circle had the Embassy done Vegas, royal variety, drove a Rolls he accomplished in life what he wanted how he wanted never took life too seriously & spent his life making people laugh R.I.P Bernard your Legend lives on, one of the true greats 👏 ❤
Hi Alan. I’ve just subscribed. I saw Bernard live three times, total hero! The last time i saw him, he had played near Manchester the night before, and tripped over the mike lead and fallen off the stage. His face was all bruised, and he could only use one hand, but he travelled to entertain us. Real trooper. On a side note, Colin Crompton used to run a pub near me too, the “Antrobus Arms”. I went in a few months after he died, and there were photos of him and Bernard etc covering all the walls. 👍
As usual, loved this one Alan. Brings back memories to as I saw Bernard at his Embassy club in the early eighties. Always thought he was a very funny guy. Thanks for your Vlogs - always very enjoyable.
I remember Bernard when I was a child ,lol I probably didn't understand his humour, only when i grew up, thank you and hi to richard ,call him mr drone joke.
Another fav of my late father and me I have visited his grave a few times as I don’t live that far away from the Cemetery. I saw a video on TH-cam about him attending his own funeral it was so good of course it was funny too if you haven’t seen it it’s a must!. Thank you so much Alan RIP BM ❤
If you haven't already seen it you should watch Bernard Manning From Beyond The Grave, it was filmed before and after his death so it's like Bernard is actually at his own funeral
Larger than life character. In the day before all this PC stuff. He didn’t give a toss . Great video . Hope you have a great Christmas and all the best for 2023, Alan ❤
Thanks again Alan for yet again a good tribute and I admire your honesty of liking Bernard,in general I liked his comedy although of course sometimes he was controversial with some subjects and dont think he would get away with it now(Enough said).Didn't see you tap the top of his gravestone as you normally do.Cheers.Roger
Hello Rodger, I did see Bernard live and I did admiring for his sensibility in that he took the fun out of everybody. I don't know about tapping the stone unless I watch it again have a happy New year! Alan
My mum was a teacher in Oldham in the late 80s. She helped take the kids to a local roller rink one day. Mum hadn't skated for years and was practising at the side using the rails. This small broad man in a vest appeared with a mop and bucket and he told her to fall on him as he was soft. Only later did she realize it was Bernard Manning and he owned the rink!
He also gave a lot of people their starts, first paying gigs as the Embassy Club. I'm sure he was shrewd in business, too, he was a lot more than a comedian.
I remember the wheel tappers and shunters club "on the committee" went to the Embassy club, you daren't get out of your chair or he would have you..funny guy, sure he was a Man City fan..
Hi Jo Yeah, we're a very funny show. There was some good talent on it but then Colin Crompton would start ringing the bell in the middle of the acts and shout PIES ARE UP are up hilarious
I think Esther Ranson has a nerve!! When you think what she was connected to and aspects of her private life. Glass houses and stones comes to mind. If people don't like him, then don't watch. Choice.
I Totally agree with you, Bernard Manning was all right in my Books, Funny man & very witty person, I don't watch any comedy on TV.in fact i hardly watch TV.😊 What bit of Comedy I've seen is Bloody Crap.Standing in a ball room of some sort There about as funny as indigestion, As you said all TVs have buttons bloody press one & Shut up moaning, God Bless you,
She once said that a woman shouldn't tell her partner if the baby isn't his if she doesn't want to!!! So, live a lie & deceive him. I no longer liked her & I believe she was saying what she thinks others want to hear in that video.
Joined the embassy in 1965 you got a life memship blue card one of the memories in there was when Stan bowles was in there and had seen him playing in the afternoon think it was his debut. Bernard said he's only drinking orange juice Stan lived near me Bradford road
I remember hearing a story that he once entertained at a night out party for a private police function. He did his usual material and had all these watching off duty policemen in stitches !
I remember seeing one where he picked on a minority gentleman. Shall we say and the organisers got angry with him but he faced him head on and said I made jokes about everybody. Nobody is out of bounds. That's what makes it ok. I believe this is kind of true. There wasn't any body. It was safe which was kind of nice. At the end of the day it was just humour meant to make people happy.
Hi Alan hope your well, enjoying your videos, but have too say not your singing 😉 got someone that I was wondering if you could look up, as far as I know it would be a first, her name. Elizabeth sladen… Sarah Jane from Dr Who… keep up the good work Alan.. best regards from me in Scotland 🏴
Hi, Andy So you're not going to buy my latest CD? Never mind I'll take a look at the actress later today for sure. And thank you for the suggestion. I also want to thank everyone who is a subscriber. Greatly appreciated. Regards, Alan
Yes he was all right, was helping a friend with a stone fireplace on a Saturday morning and Bernard came to the front door and said don’t make any noise I’m just going to bed ; I said ok so I got the cement mixer out turned it on and put a couple of bricks in it and used a mixing board, he never came back out. We finished at 4pm , if he had just said good morning 😂😂.
Very controversial don't know how he got away with some of the jokes but they were funny. And he had that face he makes. He was good. I remember the club he had think it was Oldham never went but years later I went past and it was pointed out to me. Very interesting once again thanks I enjoyed it. Love from Holmfirth West Yorkshire 💙
Hello Gill I thought it was very funny so I'm once live and as he always said he told jokes about every type of race, colour. Whatever there was nobody that that escaped. In today's world it would have been probably impossible now. Whether you like him or not, he brought happiness to a lot of people. Thank you for the great comment as always see you again sooner. Alan
I'm sure that privately Bernard was. a lovely family man. Everyone says he was a great comedian, but he made me feel very uncomfortable. Perhaps I was too sheltered, but his innuendos made me feel I wanted to get away . There is no doubt that he had a fantastic stage presence and huge personality. It just wasn't my type of humour. Bernard, RIP.
Hiya Alan, I was never a Bernard Manning fan. But we can't like everyone. Alan I have decided to leave social media including TH-cam. This is purely for personal reasons, keep up the good work. Much love Ayesha x
good film - my mam and dad were cremated there - there's only one test of a comedian - does he/she/it/they etc make you laugh or not? And his old performances on youtube certainly make me laugh! He was brilliant. Also for any non-North Mancs - 'Blackley' is pronounced 'blake-lee', not 'blackly'. My auntie Lil who lived next door to us in Crumpsall told us they caught a German spy because he pronounced it wrong. Ha. Who knows?
Bernard sell jokes about every subject and every race that was always his reasoning for never being racist. I don't get your joke about the German spy 😆
Brilliant I loved Bernard manning he came to the orral park ball room the place was up with him il never forget it I have watched shooting from the lip video thousands of times and still laff at it especially the one about Terry wait and the fella that won the lottery absolute class he was the greatest of them all I think they should be playing his videos on big screen in the embassy club Bernard manning nights I think the missing a trick there it would do well I reckon selling out every night it's like they do Elvis he's on the screen and the band was playing live to him well done Alan you come across brilliant when doing these vids lad
Hi Alan good to see you on a lovly rainy day very picturesque there’s quite a lot of fat people seems to be the in thing I’m the opposite very small I loved Colin crompton but wasn’t a big fan of this guy but I did love the show looking for Halloween stuff Alan for my granddaughters are you into Halloween or children thanks Alan as always take care crystal ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻
Hello Crystal, I was trying to work out what you were saying at the beginning but never mind. I'm glad that you're not big. It's much better to be Small on thin. I managed to lose 11 lb last month. I'm still got another stone to go but it takes time bit by bit. I understand you don't like Bernard but Colin was also very funny and hey, some expressed the fact that he liked the film the other day which was lovely. Not so bothered about Halloween but if people love it and children do great. Have a great bank holiday. Alan
What? You went looking for Manning's grave? He was a mediocre comedian, a rather repulsive individual and a sharp business man. Keep Motorhoming. Cheers

If you watch that episode of Parkinson, you will see that he even got Esther Ransen laughing - as much as she tried not to.

What? You went looking for Manning's grave? He was a mediocre comedian, a rather repulsive individual and a sharp business man. Keep Motorhoming. Cheers
Bernard Manning the poster boy for the BNP with his racist brand of humour!
He was simply funny and wasn't a racist. If you ever visited his club ( which you probably didn't) the audience was a mixed raced group who were there simply to laugh and not take exception to the Gags. Check out how much money this guy raised for various charities, for various religions and of people of various colours. Nobody was forced to go his club and nobody was forced to watch him on TV
