Thank you for sharing. It was very informative. A wonderfully talented man who remained humble to the end of his life. R.I.P.
I met him before he died. We were on a school trip to an art gallery in Salford. He was a little grumpy but I think he was in a lot of pain as he was very old and unwell. My favourite picture by him is a woman's head in a red polo neck jumper. Love Southern Cemetery. It's Manchester's Highgate! ❤
That's a great little memory! Thank you, Ann
You met him BEFORE he died!!!
It would have been very weird to have met him AFTER. 😂
@@DavidJHarrisonEssex it was not long before David. Literally only a few weeks.
Thanks Alan so much for a brilliant video on lowery I never new he turned down all the honours I myself have few lowery prints and I will buy more in the future , regards kevin 😊
I didn't even know he was buried at Southern cemetery, thank you ❤️
great film..from my own town, blue plaque on his former home..love the Brian and Michael song..
Funnily they were actually Kevin and Micheal after the original member who was Brian left, one of them was from Urmston if my memory serves me right...
St Winifreds school choir as the backing singers.
The great Lowry love the pot of brushes stencils etc and by royal appointment and turned down all those honours, good video ,happy safe journeys to you
I thought that was the honest and funniest thing about turning down the royal appointment. He wasn't interested in other people's opinions including royalty 🤣
I admire a person who turns a royal honour, not that a person shouldn't have letters after their name. He was a genius with an unique art style which I love.
Absolutely! It was his own man and that's why he became so famous. Thank you for the comment Anthony
I always enjoyed his painters thanks for sharing.
Love Lowry’s work. Thank you
Me too
I do enjoy your Cemetry visits, As some of the graves you visit seem to be very short of visitors. I have always found that simple act of leaving a small Pabel on the head stone to let the rest of the world know that person had a visitor and not forgotten.
Wow that's so lovely Brian I love Lowery's work ,he was one of my fav painters , such lovely sweet man and legend of the art world ,Thank you ever so much Brian your west Yorkshire friend Rod 🙂🎨❤️🙏
Thanks Alan you do a great job much appreciated.
And you too User thank you
Some great Victorian memorials. They favoured black! Bless Lowry, one of my favourite artists. Although he was just a chap who painted.
I think he was the only one that caught that industrial time with all his grime and pain in art
A very proud man, I’ve got a print of signed self portrait ,
Very nice volg 👍👍👍👍
Thank you ever so much Thomas People like you make it worthwhile. You're a gem! Alan
Thanks for doing that ..The great man has inspired me to paint my local area ..nice one Alan
Sing along now..." He painted Salford smokie tops on cardboard boxes from the shops." Someone was going to type that. 😊
Thanks for this interesting post. I've liked his work for many years. Yet another person I want to visit.
Fantastic! I didn't know the lyrics so well and the film is very good with Timothy Spall 👍
@MotorHomeBeepBeep I got the single, got it when it came out. Always liked it. I like Timothy Spall. I haven't seen that.
Well done Alan! Another good tribute!
Thank you very much Roger. Take care
I never knew he was buried at Southern cemetery
Hi alan thankyou for doing this one it reminds me of my mum she loved his artwork. We use to buy her prints for birthdays and Christmas ect. 👍
Hi, Sharon He was an enigma and you and I enjoy is art.
excellent presentation
KInd of you Trvor Best Alan
They really knew how to make them back then.
love the detail you go into, make's it far more interesting, saves looking up in wiki all the time. am an artist myself so know all the details and struggles involved, stay always positive, but things seldom happen in your own lifetime. but it is doing the work in the end that gives satisfaction.
Hi, David thank you very much. I'm trying to improve the content without making it too much for the casual viewer. I understand what you mean. You've got to satisfy yourself. That's what really matters then if other people like it. It's a bonus. best Alan
👍 Good one……Thank you Alan…
Thank you Steve and interesting subject on many levels. Very pleased you enjoyed my little offering.
Hey mate great post this !!!! .... Any chance you could video Larry Grayson grave and Richard Whiteley please thanku 😊💯
Good Idea Andy watch this space thanks for the ideas
hello Andy, I just thought I'd tell you I'm doing Russell Harty tomorrow. He was a good friend of Richards.
Very good. don't know how he'd have portrayed me I am definitely not a matchstick.man.
You would have spoilt the scene... and me!
Hey man if you ever need a hand finding other notable resting places in southern cemetery give me a shout. I'm very familiar with this place and there are Quite a few notable graves.
Jeez. Just had a look on Find A Grave, if correct there are 2 Moores murder victim's there as well as Sir Matt Busby & the lead singer of the 70s band Sweet Sensation. A must visit.
Well done David 👍 I've done Sir Matt, one of the victims which I think I'll stop at. Did the lead singer Sweet Sensation but I've never published it. But more importantly, I really really appreciate you helping me 💗 It's the thought that counts. Thank you more than you will know 😉
I’m 4th of June too
He was a regular at knot end where there is a statue of him .
There are two Victoria Cross winners in that cemetery.
I won’t go to cemeteries on my own too lonely might get mugged
I’m an artist too
A cemetery I am too familiar with...which by the way is the second biggest in Europe...
O he is in the old part ,there are some graves there ,that died of the plague
Who buried him he had no family
don't know
Why didn't he leave his will to his wife or son .?.
Cuz he didn't have one. Gary
