  • In this video I show you how to repair a toilet that will not fill with water using minimal tools and simple techniques. In this case I chose to replace the inlet filler inside the cistern and can be purchased from most DIY stores or Amazon.
    Amazon links for the parts and tools used:
    Bottom entry inlet filler amzn.to/3DyQEoH
    Bahco adjustable wrench amzn.to/3JzYcet
    Water pump pliers/grips amzn.to/3l0UzEc
    The Amazon links above are affiliate links. It doesn't cost you anything to click on them but I do earn a small commission if you do. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

    Thank you so much Mr Fowler. I managed to replace my Siamp inlet valve following your great instructions. 4 days on and still no leaks and seems to be working fine.. only problem I had was the fibre washer that was supplied didn’t fit my pipe connector but luckily I had one that did. Great video not sure I would have managed without it..👍

    Thank you so much Mr Fowler for making such a super, instructive, informative and detailed video! This has enabled me to fix our bust bog with confidence and at a total cost of less than £18 (for the Siamp 99T from local plumber merchant). For me the hardest bit was working out how to remove the surrounding fascia to our toilet. Rest was easy peasy thanks to your video and great commentary. Thank you!

      Hi, it's easy to do, but just take your time and take a photo of the inside of the toilet before you start. That way if anything goes wrong you will have something to refer back to.

    great video. ive just replaced the valve on mine. made sure i levelled up the little plastic markers but now it screams and pressure builds up and it shuts off the water! ive loosened off the plastic screw for now but its really loose to stop the noise. i definitely have the right valve.

    • @FixitwithFowler

      Have you tried closing the isolation valve on the outside of the toilet slightly? That will reduce the flow/pressure inside the fill unit.

    • @FixitwithFowler

    this morning my toilet wouldn’t flush both the filler has stopped filling the cistern and the flush also leaks at the base so any water slowly leaks into the pan. From this video I now know what to do to solve the filling process.

      today i bought the rubber washers for both the flush and the filler £7. The flush seems to have worked but the float seems to jam before it gets to the top of its movement which doesnt stop the flow . This continues to over flow. When I move the float by hand there seems to be nothing stopping it moving. yet when there’s water involved it jams. most odd.

    • @FixitwithFowler
      @FixitwithFowler  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @rockerjim8045 have you double checked that you have reassembled the filler correctly? It may need some more adjustment or the new rubber might be catching

    We have a Siamp toilet suite. A small grey plastic "plug" that controls the outlet flow, keeps popping out of the top of the inlet when the cistern is filling. When that happens the water sprays up, hits the lid causing it to leak down the outside of the cistern. We've turned down the water pressure to stop this but the cistern now takes ages to fill. Can it be replaced or do we need to replace the whole inlet unit? Hope you can help.
