    "Let's take the Range Rover sounds way cooler than let's take the Toyota."
    Except you're comparing a model to an entire make. They aren't equivalent. Nothing sounds cooler to me than "Let's take the Land Cruiser." It's the standard by which all SUVs should be compared.

      ***** Every civilization in existence has offered at least one thing. To our defense, we Arabs have contributed equally to the world as much as Rome and even Greece. Many great works of art and literature were offered, the religion of Islam flourished from the Arab world, development of mathematical equations and the invention of Algebra, navigation tools, a strong economy mostly thanks to honest and fair merchants, explorers such as Ibn Battuta, excellent military strategists such as Salah-Al-Din(better known as Saladin) and innumerable other contributions.

    • @mak450
      @mak450 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Number one based off of what metric? Couldn't be sales numbers, I'm sure Toyota would be touting that if it were a fact.

    • @kaleidoscopeon
      @kaleidoscopeon 10 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      mak450 a little Google will not hurt. :) Even the UN uses only Land cruisers to reach war torn, no mans lands for their humanitarian missions. Have you seen them using a Jeep or Range Rovers?

    • @mak450
      @mak450 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      zorkor A little google is usually what people who don't have any proof rely on, and in this case it doesn't return the results you seem to hope it would.
      For the UN to use Jeeps, Chrysler would first have to sell the things in quantities worldwide that would make them easy to procure for the UN's fleet. And last I checked the UN may not use _Range Rovers_, but they do use _Land Rovers_, as does the Red Cross, they also use Nissan Patrols.
      Now all that aside what is the Land Cruiser number one in? Again it doesn't seem to be sales, do you have any numbers to back this vague claim up?

    • @kaleidoscopeon

      You don't actually have a leg to stand on, if you're gonna be a fanboy at least own up to it and don't fool yourself with verbiage like "number 1" to convince yourself of something that isn't true.

    Poor review. Reliability and off road capability of land cruiser is legendary. Resale value of this truck is unmatched. Reliability of Range Rover is at the bottom of the list. Resale value of Range Rover is also at the bottom of the list. After 5 years, resale value of a 80K ranger rover is 17K. Even a toyota 4runner is higher than that.

    Obviously you don't understand the Land Cruiser. It's a legend and no other SUV can compare to it. Yes it's expensive, but it's reliability and off road prowess is the stuff other SUV's can only dream of. Range Rover? Jeep? Give me a break. Land Cruiser retains its body on frame architecture while others have gone soft. It's soul carries on from the original and deserves the respect of the true legend it is. I am from America and I get it. Long live the Land Cruiser

      I own both a Discovery and Land Cruiser and when I go on tough off road drives I take the Land Cruiser everytime but when I am going down the far or into town I will more than likely jump into the discovery.

The few that are out there usually go upwards of 250,000 miles before either being converted to full time off-roaders or shipped over seas to places where they will be run into the ground for the rest of their (long) lives.

    What the Toyota Land Cruiser is really about is long-term reliability, dependability, security and safety. It's a tank on wheels. In Mexico, several military grade level VR6 armored SUV's are Toyota Land Cruiser as well as Chevy Suburbans and Jeep Grand Cherokees. They carry about 2 tons of armor with ease, taking on potholes and speed bumps on the road, these cars last forever. Ford Crown Victorias don't come cheap but police departments and cab drivers love it. Mack trucks are not stylish but they are heavy duty machines. Land Cruisers are the equivalent of a Caterpillar for cars.

    I take delivery of my 2015 GXL landCruiser text week. I chose it after a lot of consideration. My current ride is an extremely capable(well equipped) Toyota Prado TD3.0. I tow a 2500kg van with it and do some offloading as well.
    Why have I now bought a LC200?
    Well I guess it is because my current ride(see above) has 155,000Km on the clock and it has NEVER seen a workshop except for the ritual of regular services. Not a single rattle or squeak in 6 years. NOTHING! It is an amazingly reliable vehicle, just like my last Toyota (Celica). But that was back in the 80's. so what has happened in the mean time? Well I have had other 4x4's(Nissan and Isuzu) and all have required extra(parts) fitted in less than 100,000Km. Even had a 4x4 station wagon(GM), that was well lets say "ordinary" from the start.
    I was happy to stay with my Prado, but the thought of a V8 4.6L Turbo Diesel was too much to ignore. Effortless owning, towing and cruising... what more could I ask!
    Did I consider a rangee or such? Nah! Nice drive, look great, but poor build quality and ordinary reliability. Why would I buy something, to see it in the workshop, when I can be out on the road(or off road) in my Land Cruiser. Nobody does it better!
    Thats why they are the worlds top selling car. They just keep going with no fuss (I was going to say a minimum of fuss). Happy trails!!

    Your review is not very good. You really shouldn't be derogatory to the vehicle segment. You should compare like vehicles, such as when comparing cargo space. Particularly when telling people what is valuable to them, which you shouldn't really be doing anyway, you might consider a like comparison, as opposed to telling people what sounds more cool. I am quite surprised their is evidence of such little research that you are making like comparisons to the offered ability of the Land Cruiser and the Sequoia. You really should hold your self to a higher standard. You can do a better job so you should.

    The reviewer completely misses the point of a Land Cruiser. Compared to a Land Rover or Mercedes, the LC won't bankrupt you when it's out of warranty. If you have wealth but don't feel the need to rub it in everyone else's face, the LC is much lower key and blends in, while still giving you lots of interior luxury and significant off-road capabilities. Speaking of off-roading, the LC does it much better than the Nissan (Infinity), or the GM Escalade/Denali/Suburban siblings. Compared to the Sequoia, the cost comparison given here is misleading... You can't compare it to a base 2WD Sequoia, you need to compare it to a well-equipped 4x4 variant, in which case the price difference is currently less than 20%. Last but most definitely not least, the "value" in a Land Cruiser is in longevity. According to people interviewed at Toyota, parts on the LC are engineered around a 25 year service life, as opposed to a more standard 10 year service life for most vehicles.

    There's just something cool about the Land Cruiser that the other SUVs don't have. It's an imposing/capable SUV but doesn't shout it. I'd honestly just lose the third row altogether to save space and for $80k, they could throw in real wood/metal trim. Other than that, I don't think any other SUV is as effortlessly cool (Lexus LX included)

    Advantages over Range Rover, GL450 and QX80 are build quality, ability to go seriously off road, low maintenance costs, and the Land Cruisers residuals are awesome. If you want something thats going to stand the test of time buy the Land Cruiser. If you're leaser get a GL450. People forget how awesome Land Cruisers are just because they are a little bit dated and they haven't been redesigned since 2008.

    You might be paying more for the Land Cruiser but what you get back is impossible to find. The combination of luxury, off-road capabilities, engine power, and most importantly reliability is something you will find in no other car. Yes, the Mercedes GL or Land Rover have the same (if not better) luxury and engine power but you'll be very lucky if they even last half as long as the Land Cruiser will.

    tons of people might not know the fact. Now car markets and car industry are very complicated. Toyota is a Japanese company but in fact in terms of Toyota suv, Americans design, develop, and make itA in US. Actually some Japanese import Toyota or Lexus SUV from US. As for fancy sport cars, America is ....... but they are so great at developing SUV, I think they are the best. The other Japanese companies are almost same as it. I'm a Japanese, I feel a little bit sad but it's good for car industry. People who make something good should make it.

    The 2018 Land Cruiser is a very expensive SUV, maybe even "Toyota's most expensive vehicle". But I agree with Toyota, and all the other Car Reviews. The Land Cruiser is an amazing car, It also looks like the Sequia but a way better version. If I had the money I would definitely buy a Land Cruiser, that's why you don't see most of these Land Cruisers on the roads and Highways, Its not a cheap car but it is worth it.

    A 5 year old Toyota land cruiser is on its way to a new 2nd owner! Looks brand new sounds brand new steers drives off roads accelerates stopes & starts as good as brand new .....
    Toyota has reliability meaning less time off work less $ spent at the shop.....
    Toyota builds high quality vehicles for the people they want to please & for you to enjoy the toyota brand vehicle as you'd like....

    It might not be a right choice to buy this in the U.S. for its price. However, here in the Philippines, the price of a Range Rover or the Mercedes Benz's GL class are at least $20,000 priced more than the Land Cruiser. So, the logical choice for a powerful workhorse is the Toyota. Plus, we get the 4.5L twin turbo diesel engine, which is great!

    • @doodskie999
      @doodskie999 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kiddomike in the philippines, the price of this vehicle is equivalent to a $100.000 because of the crazy tax here.

      yeah I also heard about engines which have 3000 cc and up have lower taxes. still surprises me a lot of people can buy this car here not only politcians.

    • @Kiddomike
      @Kiddomike 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. It became more affordable due to numerous re-sellers of grey-market LC200's. Honestly, I see more grey-market LC200's than the local distributed VX model, which should not be the case. If Toyota sees that the country has a good number in sales, there is a probability that they would improve on the VX model or maybe even offer more varian. Now that you mentioned it, it is unfortunate that this very capable vehicle that has a proud history is even associated with corrupt officials. In my opinion, I think those corrupt officials who owns an LC200 is giving not only the vehicle a bad image but also the driver of privately-owned Land Cruisers as well.

  • @jeremysautomobile

    You miss the point on the land cruiser. Those other luxury SUV's are not made to go 25 years with few problems. Many of the ones you compared can't tow either. Then only one that makes since as a cheaper alternative is the Sequoia. But do some reading on how Sequoias at 10 years old are holding up vs. Land Cruisers and you can start to see why the Land Cruiser is what it is and cost so much. Some people actually want a vehicle that can last rather than throw away cars.

      Resale can justify the higher price- also look at the competition and what you get. $110k for a RR which drops 70% in 4 years and breaks down or $81 for an LC which may drop 40% in 4 years and will run 500k?
