Understood, but if you are in the market for a car and you know your financial status, how did you find your way to a review for what has always been a very expensive, niche vehicle? Try searching Nissan Versa or Kia Forte.
This review does what most other car reviews don't do; it tells you right from the get-go what market segment it is addressing: the off-road buyer who doesn't make $200K a year but wants to buy a new, quality vehicle. I like how she describes the base model and contrasts it to the higher level trims and concludes for the things that matter, the base model is the same as the higher level trims; it's the creature comforts that are different. The base has the same powertrain, transmission, gearing and clearance - the things that matter to most buyers. I like how she highlights the 'creature comforts' that the base doesn't have but notes who it's not really a dealbreaker for her. Let's face it, wireless charging is nice but everyone has an extra cord to use in their new vehicle if necessary. I also like how she shows its capability off-road, even with stock tires, and how the lack of MTS is not a big deal as long as you have some basic understanding of off-roading.

This should have been the new FJ. It lacks the gravitas of the truck made famous in wars on the dunes of the Sahara. Leave the Land Cruiser name plate to the outgoing 300, and if it's too expensive and we don't get it here (in the US), we don't get it here.
It's not $60K. It starts at $57K (including destination). The one reviewed is almost $60K because it has the fancy $1K ARB roof rack and $900 rock sliders. Even mighty Toyota has had issues with some of their recent vehicles (Tundra) and it takes a year or two before that info becomes public knowledge. I always say let the other guy spend the big bucks for a brand new design and deal with the headaches when things go wrong. FYI Tacoma has rear coils on the new model…
Hello negative people of the internet.
Right?
Negative because they’re asking $60,000 but not giving dollar value.
Underpowered, missing power & hot/cold seats. Missing power tailgate. Spare tire mount?
So true .its a great looking ride that will last a long time . Yet people want a bargain. Guess they haven’t been to a grocery store lately
it's shame automakers are putting small engines in their bigger vehicles...
This should have been the new FJ. It lacks the gravitas of the truck made famous in wars on the dunes of the Sahara. Leave the Land Cruiser name plate to the outgoing 300, and if it's too expensive and we don't get it here (in the US), we don't get it here.
They cut the engine in half!
I want the off road one that uses diesel
If you told me this was the new 4Runner, I’d believe you. Not sure why they are making two vehicles that are essentially the same.
I am surprised Toyota doesn’t give you one
60K for a base model. Ouch.

The new Tacoma does not have leaf springs either.

You are amazing ❤
4cyc engine?? plastic everywhere?? $60k++?? Nah, thanks but no thanks.
Agreed - overrated and overpriced !
It's not $60K. It starts at $57K (including destination). The one reviewed is almost $60K because it has the fancy $1K ARB roof rack and $900 rock sliders. Considering the fact that the outdated 2024 4x4 SR5 4Runner with 270hp, 278 lb/ft torque, and a 5-speed auto costs $44k (including destination), which lacks full-time 4WD, center locking diff, rear locker, crawl control, automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, etc., $57K is not unreasonable.
Not as much of a fan of the plastic, but it's fine in a vehicle you're going to really use. And don't knock that engine til you've driven it. Surprisingly good. We'll see if it's reliable. But, prices are what they are these days.
@@kbb for off roading, yeah ill keep my N/A V6 less stress to the engine means more reliable. and turboed 4-pot going to a local grocery store, picking up kids from school YES. but for off-roading, that’s a BIG NO🙅🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
@@iwazaru8101 The 5th gen trd models wernt even this much. This thing is claustrophobic inside like a nissan cube with a slightly lifted suspension. And that battery is heavy making the gas tank smaller at that with needing premium fuel. I MEAN YOURE NOT SAVING MUCH WITH FUEL EITHER. The fact that you’re saying over 50,000 for this little thing is reasonable it should be illegal for you to purchase anything because YES it’s unreasonable. the limited 5th gen is more luxury than this econo thing in which they try making eco but with “premium fuel” Bad value for the money but hey TO EACH THEIR OWN. This thing is the size of an old ford escape but only over 50k. THINK FOR A MOMENT.
1:28 if it is built on the same chassis as Tacoma then it is a tragedy this is not for me Toyota builds everything now from the perspective of an accountant it cuts corners.
K.B.B! Give Lyn a big fat raise so she can afford to buy one
Toyota got greedy on the pricing, better luck next gen, toyota.
Is The vehicle is loud inside? most everyone has said this. That screen is too small. Do not like the color choices. Remember you have not included tax. lol
A Land Cruiser with a 4 cylinder??
🤷🏽♂️ 😳
Did they shrink the interior space like the Lexus GX550??
Doesn’t look roomy at all.
Toyota has lost their mind. Cheap interior, bunch of plastic on the exterior and $60k. This is worth $45k at most
$45k? Perhaps you can explain how this Land Cruiser should cost $45k when a base 2024 4x4 SR5 4Runner with 270hp, 278 lb/ft torque, and 5-speed auto costs $44k, which lacks full-time 4WD, center locking diff, rear locker, crawl control, automatic climate control, heated steering wheel, etc. It’s 2024, not 2014. There is no more 99-cent Big Mac, $3 matinee movie, or $1.99 gas.
@@iwazaru8101 the manatee had me laughing hard 😂😂😂 but is true some people just want it for free like daum is not 2012 is 2024 or unless some people live under a rock or something but thing are already expensive as is
@@iwazaru8101 that one over priced too, these new Toyota's are garbage. I've owned Toyotas my whole life, 10 of them. I will not be buying until Japanese engineers start making the decisions instead of the American marketing team.
@@TepidJeando you even know what you are talking about? This Land Cruiser is marketed and sold world wide, probably in more region than J300 or their 70 series. The car is also made in Japan, not U.S. It couldn’t have less thing to do with US other than America is one of the major markets.
If you think this car worth $45K at most to you, this car is not for you. You obvious is not the target audience they design this car for.
I'd love to see an FJ Cruiser with this new design language from Toyota
Lyn, Thank you for this hyperbole-free review. 😁 Let's hope the upcoming Land Cruiser FJ makes it to this market as a more affordable 4X4 option from Toyota. 🤞🤞
Can someone tell me where the 2nd electric motor is? Or why some reviewers make this mistake. There is one between the engine and transmission. Where is the other please?
There is no 2nd electric motor.
This is the first reviewer I’ve seen mention a 2nd motor.
Should be 10k less imho.

Now that Toyota is challenging warranty claims for driving over 85mph in an unmodified performance vehicle, I wouldn’t let ANYONE touch my LC until the warranty was expired
Is that what they are doing now? Challenging people driving over the limit? WOW now we know the quality isn’t what it was😂
I am not sure why would someone consider this overpriced 4 banger?
One of the guys at work just got one, in black, and it is a great looking vehicle. Given that this is a brand new design, though, I'd wait at least three years until the bugs are worked out to buy one. Even mighty Toyota has had issues with some of their recent vehicles (Tundra) and it takes a year or two before that info becomes public knowledge. I always say let the other guy spend the big bucks for a brand new design and deal with the headaches when things go wrong. You'll pay less as well, once the vehicle has been around for a while and is no longer the hot new toy on the street.

More FJ Cruiser to me than Land Cruiser

Lyn, what are you doing? Putting a Cali flag on a Texas plate Toyota? When worlds collide!
