    I’m proud of David for finding and being true to himself! He is so much more comfortable in his skin now and it shows and I love it! I’m with David. The LDS Church is very wrong and contradictory in many of their teachings and beliefs.

    The Club Q shooter is LDS. A year ago one of those apostles talked about ‘musket fire’ in relation to the LGBTQIA community. The LDS church isn’t safe unless your cis, straight and male. For those of us who grew up in the church, and who don’t fall into those parameters? We can speak first hand.

    • @smokerscough2907
      @smokerscough2907 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not only that, but the shooter did this heinous act within days of this interview and other public interviews from David aired about the homophobia within the church. People may not see David as a big star, but he is a household name in the LDS church. The shooter definitely knew who he was. Not to mention the support of the gay marriage bill. I worry for David's safety as he's currently on tour in largely LDS populated areas.

      The members of the church love David. After he came out you see members swarming him to take pictures with him. David will always be loved despite him leaving the religion. The belief of the church is not what David practices however the church members still love David.

    Oh my heart goes out to you David. Thank you for being so open about your journey. I'm so sorry your leaders weren't better able to support and validate you and understand where you're coming from and what you're going through, no matter how "well intentioned." It's so much more complicated and nuanced and just HARD and our lay ministry is not professionally trained to deal with these sorts of deeply personal struggles. I wish you all the best and healing and happiness in your journey going forward, and I hope that you can still feel that amazing love that God has for you through it all.
    Just for clarity - ABC you should know better - it's not the Mormon Church or The Church of Latter-day Saints - It's the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. "Mormon" was a pejorative name given to early members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because they believed in The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ as a companion scripture to the Holy Bible - another literal witness of Christ and his gospel. For a time they embraced the moniker rather than fight against it, but the revealed name of the church has always been "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" and in recent years they've specifically requested that all media companies refer to them by their official name. Please respect all parties in your reporting.

      The book of mormon (sorry no capital letters as it doesn’t deserve them) is a fake and an obvious one. I pity the good people caught up in this culturally entrenched lie.

    As a former member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, i am able to personally attest to the pervasive atmosphere of unmitigated self-righteousness that the uppermost echelons of the church leadership structure still reinforce amongst their flock.

      I think it's because the more you say it out loud the more comfortable you start to get though I know that with me I was shy and awkward to even say to people that I'm part of the LGBT community but after coming out and you don't just come out one time you come out multiple times but at the same time it's a good thing because you built enough confidence in yourself to be more comfortable and I'm pretty sure that David has told his story multiple times already and it's gotten to the point where he starts to feels more comfortable and the more he explores that side of him he's really going to get comfortable

    I have admired David and his dedication to Heavenly Father from those first days on American Idol. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints eight years ago and don't regret it. I joined because the Holy Spirit wanted me here. I joined for God, not for man's interpretation of His will. I have met some who are not pleased at my various 'differences', but I have also been accepted by more than these few. Continue to be devoted to Him David and follow Him where He would take you. His love never fails. Thank you for following the Spirit to direct your life into the future. It always takes courage to walk His way instead of man's.

    David and the Mormon church can both take constructive steps together. Jesus never said one word against gays; in fact, he did the opposite, and spoke out against judging others. A gay wedding at a mormon church would be a great breakthrough for humanity and religion.
