I don't know who would be insane enough to play tenta brella at that level but I applaud them profusely

Brellas look so cool and I really hope they get buffed and fixed next update. They can’t keep ignoring it forever of course.
I don't, and have never, mained any brellas and I hope the class returns to a state that's viable. The class was, fundamentally, good for the game.

2 sub power up to beacons provides 3 subs of quick super jump to anyone that jumps to the user’s beacon. 5 sub power up provides 7 subs of quick super jump to beacons. After 6 subs of sub power up diminishing returns kick in making any additional subs pointless. I do not know if sub power up is useful for tenta brella in particular, but since I went out of my way to research this subject might as well post it for a video where this comment is somewhat relevant.
I'd love to see one of these for Explosher. It's not a bottom tier weapon like the Clash or Tent, but I think it's a technically demanding weapon and could be educational.
I've been thinking the same thing! Although I'm not getting my hopes up about it. 😅 Finding and getting ahold of the best Explosher player in the western scene seems like a much taller order than doing that for the more obscure weapons like Clash Blaster and the Brellas. And it seems like the series is focusing on weapons that are widely considered to be competitively unviable, which isn't something I've ever heard said about the Explosher. Oh how I would love to be proven wrong though - I main that weapon myself, and I haven't been able to find a lot of information detailing how exactly the top-level users of it think about it.

I just gotta say this is easily the most helpful guide for the tenta brella I've seen. I've been interested in this weapon for awhile now and I wasn't sure how to play it, but all the guides I saw were kinda ... not great. So thank you gem for doing this series I'm finding it super helpful so far. Especially since there's not really enough helpful thorough guides like this out there
Even though I don't use the weapon, I'm glad to see there's a few others who try to make the best out of the weapon.
It is sad to see one of the most unique weapon classes in the series be in such of a weak state though.
While it is heartbreaking, even more considering Splat Brella’s decent state around the middle of Splatoon 2, you kind of get used to it. The majority of brella mains are like a homeless man in the middle of a big mall. You pass by, maybe even look at them, but you quickly move on. Brellas most common attention comes from players who play mid to low tier weapons, for they look at Brellas with relief every time they question the viability of their main, and think, “At least it’s not a Brella”. So is the fate of these poor weapons, but they lead an important example of how much Nintendo cares about anything that isn’t a Shooter.

This was really helpful! I’ve always liked the tenta brella but hated the slow startup of each shot. This video really helped give pointers on how to get around that problem.

I've really been loving these videos. It's great to get a laid-back and informative perspective on these weapons from people who actually use them.
It made me play again after burning out this season and I'm tempted to actually put in some effort to improve. Not becoming competetive but just... improve in general. It sounds silly, but when you hear about the competetive scene you get a certain image of people that's far away from your own, and meeting these players in these videos helps break that illusion. Reminds you that hey, people are people just like you.
(and I wanted to apologize because I feel like I've been a bit of a salty arse in some comment sections... trying to have a more healthy mindset and not commenting about stuff I don't actually know about).
For the next few videos I'd love a perspective on glooga or squiffer.

Tent is one of my fav weapons, and beakons are my fav sub, so seeing all this talk enlightening Gem was very, very nice, and it's nice to get Beakon scouting mindset out there.
On the clash blaster video, I was questioning the format you went with, since it seemed like having the expert play with your commentary would quickly demonstrate the best tactics. However, I think this video shows the value of having someone with less skill on the weapon try it out and show what tactics don't work, so that it's easy to see what to learn. Great series, really enjoying it!

It’s great to see less popular weapons being shown off in this series!
I fell in love with the Tentabrella from the first moment I heard about it. Really like it as a support weapon for shielding teammates and providing an opportunity to push up with it.
Even if it is less popular and has some issues in 3, I’ve been using it a lot more lately and it even got me a win at a small local LAN recently! (Plus got third at one that was a bit bigger)
My own build is a bit different as I went for sub power to jump back in or out of combat, plus allowing teammates to get back in with beakons quicker too, and I went for more survivability with some bomb defence and a sub of ink resistance. But I’ve added in comeback and a bit more quick respawn to my build which I’m liking so far.
I love this concept for a seiries, and even though you haven't even asked for it yet, my suggestion is either aerospray or undercover brella!

with the theme of generally considered bad weapons, I’d really like to see one of these videos for Bamboozler if you can find someone really good with that
If feel like they just need to make defense from shielding take priority over shots hitting in the net code and it'll go a long way to fixing them even if it means that some people will complain about shots that look like they landed actually getting tanked. The shields shred fast enough anyhow that they're still getting value out of those shots. Brellas of all types have a lot more subtleties to them than I think most folks realize and they're definitely in need of some buffs and fixes, but I think they're VERY salvageable--Nintendo just needs to, you know, actually DO it.
It already takes a long time for the shield to come out so I agree it definitely deserves priority at that point

Gotta love the tenta brella, such a silly weapon
The Tenta is good to stay on the tower. its about not focusing on throwing the canopy but instead treat it as a Splat Brella. that combined with ink vac is great! its ink hungry move so gotta be careful on that but still.

its amazing to see how good the beakons actually are. Something to note about beakons is that they give *your entire team* QSJ if you equip sub power up. Further, that QSJ will be 1.2x more effective than QSJ. So, while that definitely isn't the meta gear, its certainly worth at least a consideration.
Anyone else here in Jan 2024 after seeing that Chara put both tents in S tier in his latest weapon ranking? Also thanks Gem and Shadowind for making this for a weapon that was considered low tier back when the vid came out.

I thought the Tenta brella standard kit was like all main saver up and I've been running the same thing I've been using for when I play explo for it. Extremely surprised someone would suggest QR but considering my K/D ratio is usually like 11/7 it makes sense
No main saver or run speed? Main saver helps with the canopy consumption and run speed is great for keeping up with the launched canopy and being able to move in front and behind it. If you’re not running QR I would recommend LDE or main saver and a bit of run speed.
