Is he even evil though? He hasn't even violently murdered anyone. AND he goes go-karting with Mario. At this point I'm convinced Bowser and Mario are just arching each other for fun. Dude built him a theme park.
@@5C0RP_ Eirika won't make it, unless they make her skirt longer, because Japanese age restrictions for games have become stricter. We should get a villain, maybe Gharnef or Ashnard.
The real thing to respect here is that Sakurai gradually learned his lesson regarding character balance. I don't think anyone after SMASH 2 came out could've predicted Bowser - or any heavyweight for that matter - to ever become a viable, good character. But Ultimate seems to have got it covered very well. And it was mostly just capitalizing on what makes him good to begin with; he's still slow and big, but he punches even harder now and, probably most importantly, he's got some BIG BOY RANGE - the days of hitboxes not covering visible parts of the body have been diminished. It's good to see.
Ultimate Bowser is the fast heavyweight, with DK being the long range heavy weight and DDD being the heavy weight with great recovery. So he may be big, but he ain't slow. Sure, he is no Sheick, but slow? no
@Citrus Gaming pichu is without a doubt one of the best low tiers. From my experience playing pichu, and in the opinion of some top players, most notably Mew2King.
@Citrus Gaming yeah, i guess if joke is a synonym for serious. Like legit i know he uses the character to troll, but listen to his reasoning, plus when's the last time you saw a recent Melee tier list put Kirby above Pichu?
@Jeeses99 We can all agree that no super heavy in ultimate is nowhere near as trash as Melee Bowser. Ridley is just heavy, and even he is alright. Not great, but usable, a massive step up from the old Koopa in his debut
It seems to me that Bowser was supposed to have 6 frames of Jump Squad and Giga Bowser 8 frames of Jump Squad, but they f***ed up and got it reversed. And why does he lack a grab hitbox in his claws? What the heck?
Ironically the length of the hitbox is actually longer than marth’s, but the positioning of it is so bad, compared to marth’s which is actually disjointed
They did him justice in 4 and ultimate tho. He's terrifying to fight there and that's exactly the feeling you should get when in a fight with a giant demon turtle.

Fun fact: there are actually characters that have 7 frame jump squats. The "wireframe" male and female characters are unobtainable in vanilla melee, yet both of them have 7 frame jump squats. They didnt just skip to 8 to make bowser THAT much worse, it was intentional to a point
Down smash/neutral b can clip people recovering low to the ledge. Bair sends them at a filthy angle. Command grab can combo into platform tech chases, and it's a kill throw if you throw backwards. Just a few more things he has going for him.
Have you seen the hit box for his command grab. I cry every time I see it. I want to say it's actually worse than his normal grab because you have to be smelling bowser's breath to even start worrying about getting grabbed and if bowser whiffs it's the same type of dread that hits you when you come home from work and realize you left the refrigerator door open. :(
I don't know what you're specifically referencing, but all I can think about it Coney getting a dub with a get up attack in Brawl as Dedede, and then shouting, "You died to a get up attack!"
Don't forget that Bowser has the highest landing lag from a normal jump: 6 frames! DK and Ganon have 5, the rest of the cast has 4, and Pichu has 2 Yoshi's Down B has 40 frames of landing lag, while Bowser's has 60

@@CheapShotFail Also, I don't know what regions were able to participate in the vote. If it wasn't only Japan then the Fire Emblem votes are quite large as I am pretty sure none of the FE games were released outside of Japan at that point.

I imagine little would have changed, at least outside of Japan. Roy is one of the series' most popular characters thanks to Smash but his popularity hasn't really rubbed off onto the game he comes from and the only reason Elibe is really remembered at all is because of Blazing Blade being the first game to be localised. My bet is that the only notable difference would be seen in what games get more representation in Heroes and _maybe_ which games will get a remake first in the future.
@@RagnellAvalon Ah yes, the "thracia is unfair" strawman that people who haven't played it use as an excuse. Listen buddy, a game with so many infinite range warps and weak enemies (for the most part) could never be hard, the game is just cripted on some aspects, but that's the nature of a good amount of old school RPGs, and it's not hard to catch up on what's going on, and when you do, you can easely deal with it. Want an unfair fire emblem in terms of difficulty? Three houses maddening mode is there to cover you.

5:35 Sorry for being that one fan that nitpicks a single slide of data. Kage made top 8 at Canada Cup 2017 (sick run btw), and at ROM 1 and 2. Bizzaro Flame got 9th at Kings of Cali 4... As well as both of them taking a game off Armada. Also, Kage famously double eliminated Mang0 when he was the best in the world. Ganon has the potential to top 8 a major, and has done so. He just doesn't have much representation. The rest of the video is incredible :D
Not anymore... Ganon was considered a much more viable character when the metagame was slower. He had a much easier time landing hits and getting early kills. Now the metagame is so fast, it's basically impossible. You can still win lower level tournaments against lesser players that don't know the match-up, but forget about it against any high or top level player. Tbh, if there's one character with the potential to make some unexpected noise at a major, even today, it's Young Link. He has some glaring weaknesses, but at the end of the day, he's fast and can space very well. We've seen what he can do when played by Axe and Armada, and they don't even main him. All that said, it would take some serious skill and commitment for it to happen, but the potential is there.
@@nahor88 Weirdly enough, this same thing is true in Ultimate. At first, Young Link seems to just be Link with weaker attacks, but god, his combo game is nuts when played right!
Whenever I watch stuff like this and think of someone dominating at lower levels or local tourneys with a widely disliked character in Bowser or a E. Honda, I love that a player took the time to learn them so much that they can just push through the inherent disadvantages. But then I also in the back of my mind hear the ghost of Sanford Kelly. "Just pick a top tier."
"Is there anything good about Bowser?" well, he's a really cool character in the Mario games and also a fun character to play as in his own game (Bowser's Inside Story)
Alright, I'll have to take a word with y'all... This whole thing of being Bottom-Tier is actually a wicked conspiracy to make me look bad because I'm a villain.. think about it, between Ganon, Mewtwo, and myself, none of us is a High-Tier, and that BS comes from moralism, take Fox, Falco, and Marth as an instance, they're all heroes, so they're actually good to the eyes of people, it's the complete opposite with us villains.. society hates us, and wants to see us below the dirt.. Yeah, it's true that using characters like Fox you'll win easier, but that's the point, you want good results with low effort, that's why Fox is ridiculously overused and overrated to begin with, but true men don't want the easy way.. true men don't select a character because it has a good frame data, true men yearn for a challenge.. true men won't get carried by a character, true men CARRY their character all the way up(pretty much like HBox did)... So, overall, here's my conclusion: Chads learn how to use Low-Tiers Virgins learn how to use High-Tiers and that's how it'll be for the rest of Melee's lifespan.
DJ Nintendo would be proud these words boy But don't worry, he opened my eyes and I too realise your potential. Let's keep hoping someone picks you up, I know you can do it.

Ganondorf was and continues to be the biggest insult in smash. In Zelda he’s a fast graceful wizard who’s a master of dual swords, small swords and the trident. ( he’s never used a giant long sword in any game and was never slow or heavy) he levitates while shooting magic lightning at you and tricks you into thinking he’s slow in tp just to glide toward you and hand link his ass. He was never slow or heavy and I’ve never seen him punch someone before, I’ve seen him backhand Zelda, kick link and choke a ghost to death, but other than that he relies on graceful dual sword, single handed sword combat and ganons always seen with a trident except for oot versions dual swords. Anyone who doesn’t know Ganondorf is getting the complete wrong impression of him.

Not anymore... Ganon was considered a much more viable character when the metagame was slower. He had a much easier time landing hits and getting early kills. You can still win lower level tournaments against lesser players that don't know the match-up, but forget about it against any high or top level player.

So, overall, here's my conclusion:
Chads learn how to use Low-Tiers
Virgins learn how to use High-Tiers
and that's how it'll be for the rest of Melee's lifespan.
