    My first camera was the ZV-E10 as the result of too much "Mark Bennett's Camera Crisis"-Video consumption and my first lens was the Tamron 17-70. The Sigma was already available at that time, but the lack of image stabilization was the reason to choose the Tamron! Great video, thank you again!

    Another tip: why not set the Metering Mode to Highlights? That way you don't have to play with the EV Comp so much as the camera will always base exposure off the highlights. I never see any zebras when using this method. My setup is generally Meter Mode - Highlights with EV Comp set to +0.3EV to lift the blacks a little. Also have the Tamron 17-70 which is great, just a little soft on the 70mm side when wide open.

    I just ordered this for my ZV-E10 after using the sony kit lens (only) for nearly 3 years now. Can't wait to try this out. I mostly just shoot talking head video so it's been sufficient but you've inspired me to upgrade to this Tamron 17-70 and start getting some good photos for B-Roll (instead of my iPhone 13 which I've been using).
    Another great video as always. Love your humor!

    I’ve been using this combination as my main kit for a year and half, and it covers me in most situations! Just that it becomes a bit front heavy, but you get used to it quite soon. Very versatile and definitely worth the money! ✅

    II got this lens to pair with my a6700 and it works wonderfully. I've noticed that it can be a bit soft wide open at 70mm so I usually stop down to like f4. Its also perfect because my 2nd lens choice is the Sony 70 - 350, which covers me from 25.5mm to 525mm effectively, just need to get the viltrox primes now to complete my kit 😁

      i sold 18-105 and changed to 18-300. I should keep the Sony 18-105 oss because I find it suitable for shooting portrait videos with my girlfriend at the pool and beach.

    •  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah the 17-70 is better I think. I got rid of the 18-105 cos f4 is often too slow on APSC I find

    • @eric-generic89
      @eric-generic89 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m having a hard time deciding which lens I should get for mockumentary work, like the office, that you actually use the zoom a lot while filming it

    •  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@eric-generic89 it's a tough one i think,
      if you can't control light I'd be tempted to go for the 2.8, and use clear-image zoom up to 1.5x to get it to 105 length, you keep the 2.8 light level, but the noise can become larger and you lose a stop of DOF (it becomes deeper)
      i mostly use full-frame now so on APSC I find F4 quite dark if shooting indoors.
      Today I was shooting in a convention hall on an A6700, and actually used the Sony 11mm f1.8 all day, but I used clear image zoom to punch in most of the time to 1.5x, and never went below 2.8 as it was quite dark all told. so my taste is for 2.8 lenses.

It's my go-to when I grab my d3100 and will be buying an adapter for whatever body I upgrade to. I noticed the Tamron version does not have macro. I've used the macro many times in the sigma. It's a great walk around kens to always have mounted. Covers 90% of what you will shoot on a day / week out.

    I got my copy of this lens last month, to use in my sony ZVE-10... I Just loved it, and the zoom range is amazing! Now I'm with the Tamron 17-70 and the sony 70-350 G. These two lenses covers basically everything I need and share the same filters! I also have a the Viltrox 23 f1.4, but, although it produces beautiful images, it lacks the versatility of the zoom.
    I'm still need to get something a bit wider for astro/landscape, and in the future i wish I have a big telephoto to wildlife and deep asto. Do you have any suggestions?

      @@Brunodsp1 I find sharpness is great. I don't do astrophotography but used it for architectural and it worked well. Super wide and no distortion. Christopher Frost has a good review on it. There's also the NISI 9mm which is similar. They all have heavy vignetting but NISI I think has better flair control.

      There’s the Sigma 10-18 f2.8, and the Sony 11 f1.8.
      Both have been reviewed here.
      A dedicated full frame camera (even a used, older model) would be better, but if you NEED to stay with the ZVE10, one of these lenses would work.
      I don’t know which has most image issues (when pixel peeping), but if you don’t pixel peep, or you know how to edit /correct your photos, probably either would work.
      The Sony, with its f1.8 (much better light gathering) should be better, but not sure if you need the zoom range from the Sigma.
      If you don’t mind, let me know if either of these sound good, or if you go with either.
      Again, Mark reviewed both.

    I've been trying both for my apsc sony and I had chosen Sigma - Tamron is heavy and bulky. It does not fit into pocket in my backpack. I think stabilisation is something to push boundaries which we can't reach in 90% of our shots. I think lenses above 150mm might require it. So I would call it overhyped :)

If and when the ZV-E10 Mk 2 comes out, what kind of impact do you think it will have. The ZV-E10 is a really solid choice. I would start with that - I still use mine all the time.

    Hey Mark, im new here, and im after a new lens, for architecture photography/videography & photos of mountains, sunsest, waterfalls etc.. i want a lens that can do it all without me continuously swapping lens. I take a lot of portrait (vertical) photos because thats what comes out best on instagram stories!
    I've watched your street photography videos on the
    Tamron 17-70mm
    Sigma 30mm
    Sigma 18-50mm
    & i genuinely dont know what to get!
    Theres something interesting me about the Viltrox 75mm lense that ive seen you review (the bokeh is incredible) just wondering if you have any plans to take that out an about and use it like you did the other lenses i mentioned above, or if you could push me in the right direction for a lens, like i said im incredibly new to photography so any advise would be awesome!

    @fabian3265 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wow I was researching these 2 lottery yesterday! How about mainly video? Is the Tamron then best because of the VC? Is it any good?

    • @MarkBennettCameraCrisis
      @MarkBennettCameraCrisis  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s better for video if you have no image stabilization in the body, but if your camera has IBIS, you might be better off with the sigma because the VC fights the Sony stabilization at times.

  • @Echo_yahoo
    @Echo_yahoo 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This is exaclty the setup i got as a beginner. In total it became for me less then 1200 euro, but with this lenz you can do so much stuff! Wide enough + vc makes it a good option for some video work, plus at the longer end with 2.8 you can still get some decent bokeh for portraits.
    Now I'm considering something along sony's 70-350 for animal/girl spying photography to complement this mighty tamron, yahoo!

    • @pixxelpusher
      @pixxelpusher 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Sony 70-350mm is great if you're a bit timid and don't like getting up close. Can make a good street photography lens for taking detail or portrait shots further back, is mega sharp even wide open and has lovely smooth bokeh.

    Sony zve10 and the 18-105mm AKA Toni4 is the best lenses for this camera. Can't stop telling folks that it is inevitable. Reliable auto focus, rock steady OSS all the way down to 1/10 shutter speed hand held, very usable Zoom range from wide to tight for photo and video. This is the swiss army knife of lense for the ZVE10. I thought the zve10 and a f4 lense at night would be problematic and it's definitely not. Zve10 has features to ensure you get clean video and pictures just need to know which modes to put it in. Hands down I have stopped getting noisy videos and photos at night. I nearly got caught up complaining about the camera till one day I noticed I was limiting what the camera can do. Trust me guys spend time learning the features and what modes to use to befit from the power they have eliminating noise even with a F4 lense at night.

    Pedestrians obey signals... we don't have that sign here, since everyone knows it's useless, pedestrians don't obey the signals, they're there to be ignored. At least we don't walk in the middle of the road, everyone has heard the horror stories coming from that. Looks like a great lens to have for the camera. I've got the Sigma 18-50mm on your recommendation and don't regret it. It's a beautiful lens to have, so much better than the stock one that came with the camera. Having the extra 20mm might be nice. Though I'm mostly also taking my Nikon camera with 50-250mm along with it, so I've got plenty of reach already.

    How you changed aperture isn't it fixed to 2.8? I've seen text that says Aperture Priority but I don't know what that means so please help because I'm looking to buy same camera and lens.

    • @Wichyn1
      @Wichyn1 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In those type of lenses it means that it stay at 2.8 for the whole focal length, you can have that aperture at either 17 or 70mm. For example, I have an old camera that is 2.8 but only if zoom out, the grater the aperture number I got so at full zoom the lowest aperture number I can get in that is 8. Also, in this lens, you can mantain f2.8 but you can go all the way to f22 if I remember well, so you stay in whichever aperture you decide regardless of the focal length chose in the lens
