You we're the reason I bought the zve10 3 years ago now I'm happy shooting with it for these years. It was my first camera being a paid photographer/videographer. Now I had saved enough from my shoots and had my new A6700 making my zve10 as a 2nd cam. Thank you for your valuable review Mrak I became a professional because of you. It was a battle between canon M50 and zve10 back then. Glad I listened to you. Now I'm saving for this tamron glass. Again, thank YOU!
That was my same experience, even with the same cameras! And this channel got me into buying the zve10 and now my a6700. They should pay you Mr. Bennett.
I'm using the 17-70 on my a6400, and it does the job quite well, while the quality of low-light performance on APSCs are wanting, it cannot be blamed on the lens. I will strive, if God wills it so, for a better full frame option in the coming year hopefully. The only thing I don't like about the Tamron is that it is a little chunky during my travels, but it more than makes up for what it lacks in size/mass for that little extra reach. I'm still a novice, so I get nervous easily when going outdoors, so that extra zoom helps a lot. I enjoy it a lot, and I think you're good with either one, because they're just one of the best all-rounder lens out there for the APSC world. Goodluck y'all! Happy shootin and another great video by the creator! ♥️
If you were starting all over again would you still purchase the Tamron? Honestly it's just the size/weight that's holding me back. Does it ever deter you from taking your camera somewhere cause it's too bulky?
I use the Tamron on my a6100 and it’s a BEAST! Even when I’m jogging and then slow to a quick walk to snap to catch a shot… the images are crisp and the autofocus is on point. I have no need to upgrade cameras with this lens. I can do quality photos and video that exceed my expectation. Great review.
Thank you Mark! Just bought the Sigma 18-50 after watching your video. After taking some shots on the street, absolutely seeing better photo quality. It's so sharp! Can't wait to take more photos with this len. Thank you for sharing!
I bought the Tamron because of the image stabilization and sold the Sony 16-55 f2.8. But last year I added the Sigma, because of its size. I use the Tamron on jobs, and the Sigma with the A6600 to carry with me in a small pouch for personal photos. The VC/IS of the Tamron is really good also for handheld videos. Some noticed that the VC and IBIS interfere. Anyway I use the Tamron on a Sony without IBIS. Great review. One thing that annoys me about the Sigma is that the zoom ting rotates in the opposite direction than the Sony and Tamron lenses. Sigma should have adopted the regular zoom ring direction for the camera mount it is for.
Great video, thanks so much Mark. I love how straight to the point you are, your thoroughness and how clearly you convey information. You're my go-to TH-camr for these sorts of vids. Really appreciate your work 🙂
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis @noahstonemusic speaks the truth. You are a remarkable creator and my go to for any camera tech which seems to be my focus as of lately. ;)
I've had a Sony mirrorless APS-C body since the NEX-6, the entire time I've stuck with primes because all of the Kit Zoom replacement lenses are giant schnozes compared the size of the camera... IMHO no one's gotten the balance right of a good APS-C f2.8 standard zoom until Sigma knocked their 18-50/2.8 out of the park - not only is it small, light and perfectly balanced - it is sharp as a tack and fast, finally a properly sized lens for an A6x00 without compromising image quality. VC and extra reach of the Tamron is nice but its still a bit too big. Sigma's my choice here.
Thanks for this, Mark! Bought the Tamron for my zv-e10 bas3d on your earlier video and have not left the house without it. Have preserved great family moments when we're out and about, quick during fleeting photo-ops, even on low light situations. Your content is always very informative as much as it is entertaining 👍 Thanks for sharing ❤
Hello bro. I am planning to buy the same combination of zv-e10 with Tamron 17-70. Do you have Instagram where I can see samples photos taken from this combination.
For me the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 and 18-50mm f2.8 pairs nicely with my A6700 to make a nice and compact travel kit. For some city photo walks, I’ve even used two bodies, A6100 with the 10-18mm and A6700 with 18-50mm which saves switching lenses and still have a compact kit. If I need a telephoto, I add my FF Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-f5.6 and cover a good range from 15mm to 300mm equivalent. I wish there was an APSC equivalent to the Tamron 28-200mm f2.8-5.6 zoom that is both sharp and relatively fast to pair with the Sigma 10-18mm f2.8 for a two lens travel kit that covers wide to telephoto. I think right now the best option is the Sony 18-135mm kit lens…wished they made something faster with a constant f4 in that range while keeping it compact. For now, I’m happy with my 3 lens compact APSC travel kit.
Had the fuji 16-80mm, switched to tamron. I miss the apperture ring, of the fuji and the fuji is actually a bit sharper (but hasnt the 2.8). So the only thing for me saving the tamron (and not getting buyers remorse), is the 2.8 apperture.
Thanks for the review! Sigma released this lens when I already had a Tamron 17-70. I didn't like the blur in Tamron, it wasn't stable. On the Sony a6400, I did not notice the stabilizer working, especially on the video, the shaking at 70mm was stronger than at 105 on the Sony 18-105mm. The only advantage of the Tamron in front of Sigma is 70 mm. It's big, heavy, without a normal stabilizer and with a nervous background blur.
When getting my zve10, i ended up choosing 11mm sony, 30mm sigma and 56mm sigma. Gave a wide variety of focal lengths while i could crop in (which i inevitably do with stabilization) and get the sweet f/1.4-1.8. Non photography clients are almost always sold quickly by the clean bokeh instead of the other skills unfortunately
Can you help me with this in choosing right lens for my work..Bought the Body without kit lens and started with 11mm f1.8 for Real Estate Video’s..Planning for Cooking Video’s and Studio Shoots..
@@hridaimanav3620 11mm is a good start choice for real estate. If you are able to consistently keep distance between you and the model or the kitchen has some good roomy space, the background compression in 56 will work amazing for you. Go for something wider than 56 (30 in my case but you can also look somewhere around 24) only if you feel big spaces are not a luxury you may get. Just know that each lens will affect your composition style when it comes to models a lot more.
Tamron 17-70 has huge design flaws... zooming in/out creates vacuum and sucks in dust on the inside of the lens. Sold mine and picked up sigma 18-50 insread and it's flawless.
(Note to self: Tamron 17-70 Zoom -in/out creates a vacuum which sucks dust into the lens.. …this is a major thing; accumulation. I’m starting to come across this observation/comment more. This is probably the most important thing. If it’s sucking in dust, it’s likely also sucking in more moisture…mold. Hmm.)
All zoom lenses do that if they are not internal zoom lens. Also Tamron is weather sealed so If I would pick one for something like hiking or other outdoor activity I’d go with 17-70
Good review. Based on size and convenience, the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 is my choice. It is simply excellent and cute. I'm looking forward to getting the 10-18 f2.8 Sigma once I paid off my 'expensive' A7CR.
I use the Tamron on my FS7 65% of the time. It was an immediate purchase with the extra 20mm and VC when announced. Also at the time it was the only lens besides the Sony. The only issue I have with it which I didn't see you mention Mark is the manual focus. It's not as smooth as I would like. Every once in a while the manual focus throw gets weirdly stuck I have to remove my hand and spin the ring again for it to respond.
I have had both for fuji X system, they both have there pros. I sold the Tamron with my X-T 2 and kept the Sigma. Last weekend i went to cover a Moto Tour and was using the Sigma on my X-T 5 and I kind of missed the longer reach of the Tamron and also it started raining and i was missing the weather sealing from the Tamron.
i have both, and here's how I sum it up.When I want a standard zoom, I use the Tamron for indoor and nighttime situations, and the Sigma for everything else. If my aps-c camera (a6000) had image stabilization, I would sale the Tamron and keep the Sigma. The Tamron's size is on the verge of being to big for a daily walk around lens. The Sigma's size if perfect on a 6000 series camera.
Thank you Mark, very informative! I'll go for the Sigma due to its tiny size, I value portability highly, at similar optical quality. Actually, on my two last trips to Japan I have been chasing it - sold out at Yodobashi in Osaka and Tokyo, and at BIC Camera as well. This lens seems to be selling faster than they can manufacture it...
I got rid of my 17-70 for the Simga 18-50 for my A6700. At 60-70MM, the Temron fell on its face at F2.8. I would need to stop down to 4.5 or 5.6 to get good contrast or photo's would be garbage. So many times I would get home, start looking through my photo's and realize that I didnt stop down so half of them was garbage. I tried two different copies of the Tamron and two different bodies (A6600 and A6700) and they all had bad contrast problems at the telephoto range. I also got the Tamron 28-75 G2 and its 10x better. Ya, its a full frame, and ya, I dont get wide angle, but I have a Tamron 11-20 for that, plus the 18-50 for something light and nimble.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Christopher Frost saw the ghosting in his review at 70MM F2.8 but glossed over it a bit. Watch his video and skip to 5:14 and you can see the white bleeds into the black on his chart. Its REALLY bad on contrasting edges.
BTW, 28-75 G2 does not have this problem. Its the same size and weight as the 17-70, but just lacks the wide. Superior lens by far if you dont need the wide angle, and its full if you upgrade.
The Sigma 18-50mm is great but it has been collecting dust since I got Viltrox 27mm F1.2. I only pick the Sigma when I really need wider lens these days for landscape.
Not sure if the Tamron was around when I bought the Sigma 18-50, at least I didn't know about it at the time. That made the choice easy. I would be torn between the extra focal length, but loosing some sharpness or having that closer minimum focus, but less focal length. Since I love to hunt and shoot mushrooms, the 12cm minimum is just awesome to have. Thanks for the comparison.
Great post, Mark. Once again, informative, concise, accurate, user experience, side x side image comparisons and your entertaining and charming presentation. YuDaMan.
*i JUST got my Sigma 18-50mm for my unboxing videos because the Kit Lens for the ZV-E10 just SUCKS so I did some research and some video it seemed the Sigma was the choice for me and I haven't had a chance to do much with it with work n weather BUT...now that you're video is out I can just watch lmao*
Hahahaha what a timing. Was just chatting with a buddy of mine that i was thinkng of getting the Tamron 17-70 and if he knows some other options. After we chatted for about 1h, your video just popped up.
Amazing video! I've been considering the Sigma for a little while and the examples you've shown in this video really convinced me that it's the lens I need :)
Not enough people make enough mention of the minimum focus distance. Thanks, it's just what I was looking for. Sigma it is, for my top-down camera lens. The size and weight are a plus as well.
Your sony ZVE10 and A6700 never disappoint with any APSC lens . Nice review . What i like about the two lenses is their fixed aperture at any focal length . However , i prefer the portability of the sigma and the longer focal length of the tamron . Your reviews are always detailed and fantastic ....

great vid!! I have the Tamron 17-70 since 2022 and used it almost everyday with a lot of cameras, a6600, zve10, fx30, and full frames a7iii and a7CII, is my favorite lens for sure!
Thank you again for this perfect, detailed comparison! Two participants fight against each other and surprisingly there is no winner! Tomorrow the Samyang 135mm F1.8 will arrive and there will be a competitor this year - the Viltrox 135mm F1.8 Lab.
Hey there Mark! Looking to get into Photography and this video has helped me a load! Really want to get the Tamron lens as it seems like an amazing all-rounder, however I already have the Sony 50mm f1.8 so the Sigma wouldn't really replace it at the outer zooms. However, I literally just saw the Sigma going for £200 (or $250) cheaper than the Tamron and it seems like an awesome deal! However, I have been considering the Tamron 28-200mm lens for photography of any kind and want to take photography and providing social media services for business very seriously with I'll the time I've got with school this summer. I also saw the Sony G 18-105mm f4 which seems like just an amazing lens and I found one at the same price as the Sigma almost, so think it's worth it due to the Optical Image Stabilisation, since I'm using a ZV-E10 so not sure the Sigma would be great due to that. Let me know what you think cause I'm not sure myself on what to do and would be awesome to have your help in this, thank you!
When I had a Sony a6300, I bought a Tamron 17-70 and I didn't need anything else. This lens is what you need. 70mm, instead of 50 is a big value. Very little attention is paid to stabilization in the video, and this is one of the decisive criteria for choosing between these lenses in video shooting. Stabilization is very important for both photos and videos, especially. I wouldn't regret buying a Tamron 17-70 again, but now I have an Sony a7IV and a Tamron 28-75 G2 and here I'm a little short of a wide angle.
Despite the larger size I think the Tamron 17-70 would be better for street photos especially if you want the kind of shot with the background in focus and the showing blurry people movement you can shoot hand held and the stabilization will allow for a slower shutter speed. Also the cost can be much less as you will need less primes. With the sigma 18-50 you may also want to get the sigma 16mm and maybe a viltrox 75mm and also something wider, where with the Tamron you might just get the Viltrox 13mm or Sony 11mm primes and zoom with your feet and the Tamron for everything else. The overall cost will be much less.
Thank you so much brother for making this video. That was the best review I've ever seen! Very informative! Btw, going to buy Sigma 18-50. Thanks again!
I started watching this video thinking I would like Sigma more because it's cheaper, but by the end I far prefer the Tamron. The green flare, the nice sunstars and the bokeh look more pleasing to me on Tamron, so as far as I can see the only downside is the sligthly worse minimal focus distance. Thank you for the video! The outside is a nice change from the studio :)
heya mark, just pulled the trigger on the A7IV. thanks for all the tips throughout the years, the sigma hype definitely got to me because now i can use my fullframe 24-70 sigma on my actual fullframe as well :)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis The A74 is a great camera. But, the a6700 I have and the A74 I proved one thing.... The a6700's new technology, excellent still image performance, ease of use, lighter and smaller, made it the better camera. Sad, but I like to shoot small things like insects and birds, and the A74 was bettered by the a6700 by a long shot. I also figured out how to get equal image quality by using the crop factor inherent in the crop sensor body. My trick I use all the time. I can't justify buying the A74 until it gets the AI chip. Focusing with either my A7CR or a6700 just blow the older models away. I hope Sony puts that AI chip in the ZV-E10 mk. 2 if such a thing is made. I also hope there is something like the A74, maybe called the A75, with the AI chip. It will then be the best camera in the world.
I bought the Tamron based on another one of your videos, and I'm happy with that choice. Come to think of it, I only watched this video because I love how you present. I guess it reinforces why I went with the Tamron, though.
Hey Mark! Thanks for your excellent reviews. Finally, I have completed my initial setup based on your recommendations and reviews. I went ahead with Cameras= ZV-E10 and A6700, Lenses= Sigma 18-50, Voltrex 27mm, Sony 11mm, and 4th is the kit lens with ZV-E10. In addition I have DJI pocket 3, Ace Pro, Action 4 and and X3. Hoping to start a travel vlogging + my son's channel soon.
I bought the Tamron as the deciding factor was the 67mm filter thread, as I have a collection of 67mm filters for my other lenses. It's quite heavy compared to the Sigma, so for lightweight street photography the Sigma might be preferable.
Thank you for the video. I ended up with Sigma because of size when I added my A6700 last fall. One reason I chose it is a reason I recommend to everyone is to look at the midrange and wide angle zooms as a pair and choose the pair you like best. The Sigma 10-18/2.8 is my preference at the wide end as well so I went Sigma. Since I also shoot full frame the A6700 is a backup and travel body so lower price and smaller size were key so I ruled out the Sony 16-55/2.8 G. Either way the Sigma, Sony, and Tamron are hard to beat. Also the A6700 has IBIS so that included with the Tamron was not key to me. Take care.
I've seen another video where there is a conflict with Tamron's vibration compensation and the camera's sensor IBIS which affects overall IBIS performance.
I have an A6700 and had both these lenses but sold them for the Sony 16-55 f2.8. It was expensive but worth it. Also have a Sony 20mm f1.8 Fe and Sigma 56mm f1.4. (love both) Recently added the TT Artisan 27mm f2.8 AF (£130) to see what the image quality was like, have to say it's pretty decent and makes a great street setup on the A6700. Long live APS-C!!
@@luisandradevideo I think all three lenses have similar image quality. I just wanted to try all three in person and ended up with the Sony 16-55 which I'm very happy with. The Tamron is a big beast which sort of defeats the whole APS-C compact ideal.
I bought the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 for my Fuji X-S10, but ended up not using it all that much because I am more of a telephoto lens user. I sold it along with a few other cheaper lenses that I had to get the Viltrox 27mm f/1.2 Pro. That being said, the Sigma is EXCELLENT, but I found that 50mm just isn’t enough reach for me. My most used focal length on the Sigma (other than 50mm) was 24mm-28mm, hence the Viltrox 27mm. I’ve got the also excellent Sigma 10-18mm, Viltrox Pro duo of 27mm and 75mm f/1.2, and an excellent copy of the Tamron 18-300mm.
I am so happy you made this video. I recently bought the Tamron barely used for 400 dollars and have been wondering if I made the right choice for weeks. I love the Tamron and it’s extra range but it is a bit heavy and I’m wondering what living day to day with the sigma would be like
I own the Tammy 17-70 & love it! yeah i wish it weight less but sometimes that comes in handy for video use. but yeah no real complains with the lens. I do hate the dust that gets into it.
I'm Camp Sigma because I value the sharpness and close focus and willing to give up the longer tele end and VC. Plus, I have the beautiful Sigma 10-18 f2.8 to complement the 18-50. For someone who don't shoot ultra wide and wants a one-and-done walkaround zoom lens, the Tamron is mighty appealing.
On the A6700 I love the Tamron, light enough and great quality with extra stability. Plus I have right on the rear wheel bound to clear image zoom, that way I can get nearly a 160mm field of view up 60p from a tiny package! (oi oi lads). Weather sealing is useful too, with an A6700 your whole package is waterproof. ahem.
Dear Mark, i appriciate your videos. Ive watched alot of yours and bought a ZV E10 for my travel vlog channel. I am about to decide on a better lens but cannot decide either sigma or tamron. I am so confused, I do alot hand hold shuts of landscape, streets, buildings etc. I am more into the sigma but VC option on Tamron tricks me alot. I also need a ND filter but thats another topic. Help me out man!🎉😊😅
you should go with the lens you like, you can always use the active stabilization in video with the ZV-E1. For photos, it won't make too much of a difference. The extra 20mm on the only end is nice, but the lens is much bigger
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisisI'll be using it on ZV E10 which does not have IBIS. I am more stuck into the stabilization fact on choosing wheter sigma or tamron. Sigma would be perfect match as I travel alot and its size is quite good😅
What do you think - i have ZVE10m2 - but i want to change my kit lens for some family parties ( interior, exterior, evening ) - There is black friday on Sigma and it is really small compared to Tamron ( i have 18-300 right now ) . I worry about stabilisation in my case but maybe steady shot and aperture, brightness on Sigma will be ok ? Tamron looks too big for this personal use. Or maybe there are some different lens ? Hard to choose. Or just stay with my kit lens 18 - 55 with GODOX TTS lamp
My lens favorite is the Sony 18-105 f4 - covers all the focal lengths of these other lenses plus the constant f4 is ok for me. This lens doesn't has as much of a 'digital' look as some others. Some say it's soft but it works for me. Good show as always.
Great comparison Mark. Whilst both the Sigma 18-50 and Tamron 17-70 are great options, I currently use the Sony 18-135 which serves me well for everyday, travel and landscapes. I complement it with the Sony FE 35 f1.8 for low light street or for portraits, and also have the Sony 70-350G for landscapes and sports. The Sony 16-55 f2.8 would be great but I don’t feel like paying the Sony tax. I don’t think I’d really benefit from the extra 2-3 stops from the Sigma and Tamron f2.8 zooms, but they definitely should be considered by others as you have suggested. Enjoy your videos and keep up the great work!
i was considering adding the Sony 18-105 f4 to my collection for the additional reach over the 17-70 f2.8. I ended up getting the 17-70 on sale from Amazon, but i am still wondering if i should still go ahead and get the 18-105, it would be nice if Sony updated it though.
Hey Mark! Would you be able to check out the tokina 11-18mm f2.8? I’d love to see it compared against the sigma 10-18 and the Sony 10-20! It’d make a killer video!
Another nice review Mark! I would just like to ask if you can test the Tamron lens with the A6700? A couple of reviewers a few months said that the vibration control of the Tamron doesn't work well with the A6700's IBIS. You have to either deal with the issue or only turn both off
It does appear to fight the ibis a bit in video from what everyone is saying. I had to send my lens back so I can’t test it further, but it does make the idea of handheld video less attractive with the Tamron. So if you plan to use a lot of handheld video, I would look to get the Sigma
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks for the reply. I currently have a ZV-E10 and your videos were a tremendous help. I was looking for a lens that I can use for the lil' dougie and then with the A6700 when I eventually upgrade. Seems like the Sigma is the better option I guess
The form factor on the Sigma is like the FE 35/1.8. Alone that is a big minus for me. I don't these straight-body lenses. Not a good feeling in the hands, bad grip.
I've noticed that this Tamron doesn't hold focus in manual mode when I change focal lengths. Regardless of auto or manual, the image goes blurry during a quick zoom on my a6500
I wanted primes and may get them eventually. with my a6400 I've been using the 18-135 and it's been great except for in low light or dusk conditions for me. I got the tamron last night for 450 used but pristine condition almost like it was used maybe a handful of times, 0 wear anywhere and the glass is flawless, Anyhow amazing lens and the only thing I could knock it for is the size but is size an issue if your only carrying 1 lens? to me its a bit chunky but its trade offs on the a6400 being stabilized and the zoom range. I don't think im putting the 18-135 unless overtime I start disliking the size. Thats about my only negative. all my photos get edited in Lightroom and I shoot in raw.
@@AmrAbdeen tough call, the two sigma primes will give you more of a wow factor with the blurry backgrounds wide open. But you’ll be changing your lenses frequently. The 18-50 is so great because you can take one lens and never take it off travelling.
Hi, I loved your video but I'm in a dilemma with my Tamron 17-70 and my Sony A6700 camera. The stabilization of the Tamron and the Sigma, from what I've seen, are not that compatible. I wanted to know your opinion. Do you recommend buying the Sigma 18-50 since it's lighter or keeping the Tamron?
Yes, for video I would pickup the 18-50 Sigma because the stabilization in the Tamron does seem to fight the Sony stabilization and there's no way to turn off lens stab without turning off all stab. For Photos, you should be fine with the Tamron.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you very much for your answer, believe me, it was just what I needed and I have seen all your videos, you are a genius, greetings from NYC
Hey Mark! I recently got the sony a6700 and want to buy a zoom lens that covers basically everything and plan to get one prime lens after that (heavily gravitating towards viltrox 27 f1.2). I have seen all the positive reviews of the sigma 18-50 f2.8 and was pretty sure to get that one. Now however i can actually buy the sony 16-55 f2.8 G lens for just 100€ more than the sigma. Idk if you ever worked with that lens, but maybe you have some experience and can tell me if i should get the sony or the sigma. I am planning on using it regularly for both photography and Video.
Yes. That sony is overall the best zoom for APSC. It’s just normally it’s so expensive. The sigma is smaller, but I would probably get the 16-55 or f you can get it at that price!!

It was a battle between canon M50 and zve10 back then. Glad I listened to you. Now I'm saving for this tamron glass. Again, thank YOU!
this is so great to hear!!
doing the same thing here but im still struggling to find client and get a job with my camera :(
That was my same experience, even with the same cameras! And this channel got me into buying the zve10 and now my a6700. They should pay you Mr. Bennett.
guess what, i got my first ever client shooting on this 3rd june
@@8qaediThat’s awesome, how did it go? Any updates?
You're the king of useful comparisons!
Shame that algorithm doesn't understand that
I'm using the 17-70 on my a6400, and it does the job quite well, while the quality of low-light performance on APSCs are wanting, it cannot be blamed on the lens.
@@parkasat I am curious about this as well. I will mostly keep my setup in the studio, but like the versatility when I want to take some photos.
@@parkasatI use that Tamron when multiday backpacking, traveling and all other stuff and the size is just fine. I think its a perfect lens.
Thank you for sharing!
so great to hear!!
I've never seen a better camera man in my life! And not just from Ireland.. I'm talking the whole universe!
Hahaha your self-awareness and the small talks always get me🤣
I bought the Tamron because of the image stabilization and sold the Sony 16-55 f2.8.

Top 20 at least
Tamron has weather sealing too
When hiking for many days, every ounce count so I went for the Sigma on my A6700 and very happy. Thanks for your good work!

thanks for saying that!!
*instead
yes - it does take in dust
(Note to self:
Tamron 17-70 Zoom -in/out creates a vacuum which sucks dust into the lens..
…this is a major thing; accumulation.
I’m starting to come across this observation/comment more.
This is probably the most important thing.
If it’s sucking in dust, it’s likely also sucking in more moisture…mold.
Hmm.)
Thanks dude for that information
Every once in a while the manual focus throw gets weirdly stuck I have to remove my hand and spin the ring again for it to respond.
thanks for the comment!! I don’t usually use it on manual so I didn’t encounter that - good to know!!
Ive heard that VC in tamron lens can interfere with sony ibis during video shooting because you cant manualy turn off VC on the lens
Adorei. Bem objetiva. Vou pro Hi em fevereiro e a cada vídeo vejo que não errei na escolha.
Canon has just allowed 3rd party APS-C for RF mount so probably most of Sigma's APS-C production is going into RF lenses for now
You are the best cameraman from Newfoundland, Mark!!
Ya, its a full frame, and ya, I dont get wide angle, but I have a Tamron 11-20 for that, plus the 18-50 for something light and nimble.
interesting!!
I only pick the Sigma when I really need wider lens these days for landscape.
that 27 is amazing for sure

Not sure if the Tamron was around when I bought the Sigma 18-50, at least I didn't know about it at the time. That made the choice easy. I would be torn between the extra focal length, but loosing some sharpness or having that closer minimum focus, but less focal length. Since I love to hunt and shoot mushrooms, the 12cm minimum is just awesome to have. Thanks for the comparison.
I own the Tamron 18-70mm and I am very pleased with it.

The sigma will be better because it’s smaller and lighter

Your sony ZVE10 and A6700 never disappoint with any APSC lens . Nice review . What i like about the two lenses is their fixed aperture at any focal length . Both look like great lenses! I’m satisfied with my Sigma 30mm f1.4 on the a6700 👌
Hey there Mark!
You're the best camera guy from Newfoundland.
Thank you so much brother for making this video. That was the best review I've ever seen! Very informative! Btw, going to buy Sigma 18-50. Thanks again!
I appreciate that!! you won’t regret the lens - it’s amazing.
@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks again, brother ☺️
Mark thanks brother! you are amazing as always! Thanks for this comparison, I vote for Sigma!
heya mark, just pulled the trigger on the A7IV. thanks for all the tips throughout the years, the sigma hype definitely got to me because now i can use my fullframe 24-70 sigma on my actual fullframe as well :)
nice!! probably the best overall camera for the money on the planet!!
Hoping to start a travel vlogging + my son's channel soon.
great setup!!
I bought the Tamron as the deciding factor was the 67mm filter thread, as I have a collection of 67mm filters for my other lenses. It's quite heavy compared to the Sigma, so for lightweight street photography the Sigma might be preferable.
Man your camera reviews are as great as your stand up! ❤❤❤
I hope that's a good thing 😂
I bought the 18-50 because of you! I shot my first wedding with it and have been very happy with the results
great to hear!!
Excellent as always. Thanks!!!
I picked Tamron 17-70..eventho it is heavy..but im satisfied with this lens
Wider and longer is a benefit..the quality is amazing..AF is great..
Thank you for your very good Review. But...did you mention, that when your doing Videos and zoom, the Tamron works not good.
Take care.
I've seen another video where there is a conflict with Tamron's vibration compensation and the camera's sensor IBIS which affects overall IBIS performance.
yes in video people report that it can fight the IBIS system sometimes!!
I have an A6700 and had both these lenses but sold them for the Sony 16-55 f2.8. It was expensive but worth it.
Also have a Sony 20mm f1.8 Fe and Sigma 56mm f1.4. (love both)
Recently added the TT Artisan 27mm f2.8 AF (£130) to see what the image quality was like, have to say it's pretty decent and makes a great street setup on the A6700.
Long live APS-C!!
17-70 for Sony is huge Diference?
@@luisandradevideo I think all three lenses have similar image quality. I just wanted to try all three in person and ended up with the Sony 16-55 which I'm very happy with. The Tamron is a big beast which sort of defeats the whole APS-C compact ideal.
Nice video Bro 😎
Best camera guy
you have got to be the best camera guy from Newfoundland
You are the Best camera guy from Newfoundland
AND my friends give out nice guitars!!
On the A6700 I love the Tamron, light enough and great quality with extra stability. Plus I have right on the rear wheel bound to clear image zoom, that way I can get nearly a 160mm field of view up 60p from a tiny package! (oi oi lads). Weather sealing is useful too, with an A6700 your whole package is waterproof. ahem.
Your the best camera man
I am absolutely certain that my man Mark is the best of all cameramen in all of Newfoundland!
Good show as always.
that is a great lens
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis works great on a gimbal too, doesn't change length when zooming.
Only real down to the 18-105mm is that it is not weather sealed as these two. Yes it is softer.
i was considering adding the Sony 18-105 f4 to my collection for the additional reach over the 17-70 f2.8. I ended up getting the 17-70 on sale from Amazon, but i am still wondering if i should still go ahead and get the 18-105, it would be nice if Sony updated it though.
I think I’d go Sigma with the size. Not in the market at the moment for they range. Love the new Fuji film sim on the X100vi
Hey Mark, love your channel! Can you test or compare the 18-135 aps-c lens from Sony ? Never seen it on your channel. Is it so bad ?
It's a great lens - just haven't had the opportunity for extensive testing
Hey Mark! Would you be able to check out the tokina 11-18mm f2.8? I’d love to see it compared against the sigma 10-18 and the Sony 10-20! It’d make a killer video!
you are the best camera guy from NFLD
Just sayin’
And so did Landon
Cool Lenses 😎
Thats about my only negative. all my photos get edited in Lightroom and I shoot in raw.
i have a6400 with sigma 16mm 1.4, should i buy one of those or just buy the 56mm and 30mm 1.4 ? personal use, vacation photos amd such. thanks
@@AmrAbdeen tough call, the two sigma primes will give you more of a wow factor with the blurry backgrounds wide open. But you’ll be changing your lenses frequently. The 18-50 is so great because you can take one lens and never take it off travelling.
Thank you for your video, I send you an email about these 2 lenses and you made a video about it and I’m really appreciate it❤
Hi, I loved your video but I'm in a dilemma with my Tamron 17-70 and my Sony A6700 camera.
About time you reviewed the 17-70 😊 I run it on one of my own little duggies, the other I run the Viltrox 13. Use both for video, but always grab the 17-70 when taking photos.
And loved ❤your review, always a great watch
