I only thought interest in my second monitor being placed to my dominant eye is at which is my left eye and I have it on my right side of my desk and the reason why is because I won't be able to turn my head as much I might try this but is it worth it putting my second monitor to where my dominant eye is at

I’m helping my dad adjust and dial in his desk/monitor and this is my go to reference video to help out setting up desks.
Some things that I love and didn’t really notice before that you do with transitions: the x spinning on/off from the middle of the screen & the transition between your hand “window” with the video playing. Minor things that are just awesome little touches that make for an overall more enjoyable viewing.

I have been dealing with right shoulder pin as a gamer for years and yeah I finally decided to chop it down the left side of my desk to lower the table to elbow height. Thank you so much for the help.
On the strange side I decided to use my left hand/arm for my mouse to put less strain on my right shoulder. Lastly I just put a fuck load of books bellow my monitor so I don't have to break my neck every time I look at the middle of the screen.

I'm about to change my chair and desk, so i'd thought I'd go down this rabbit hole again just for fun.^
Ergonomics is key - I work as a cashier starting at a screen moving my wrist, and if you want to last doing your hobby it has to be looked after.
The most important part is your wrist. Eyes are adaptable - since you move your body around and leaning back.
However your wrist and shoulders need to be relaxed - carpal tunnel and repetion-strain is real and needs to be fixed if you want to have a good life.
Knees - 90* angle when you're sitting down.
Elbown - 90* angle when you're typing. Thats the base line to save your body.

  • @xhyrolax
    @xhyrolax 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you so much for your videos, incl. the carpel tunnel videos. I have recently begun to get strain on my left wrist. I use an orbweaver gaming keypad and I've realised I had it way too close to my body, resting my wrist on the edge of the desk pretty much. I've now pushed everything forward so most of my forearm is resting on the desk (keypad, keyboard and mouse) and everything feels a lot less strained. It actually feels like pressure has been lifted (which i guess it actually has as im not compressing my carpel tunnel).

I was very happy and surprised to realise that my desk, chair and my height are all great. My Legs are on a 90 Degree angle touching the ground and I naturally sit an arms distance from my monitor, I haven't However got a Arm for my monitor, so its lower than I'd like. My Keyboard also Happen to have an arm rest built as part of the keyboard so my arms are always straight. My Set Up will change a lot so that I can do almost all of these things Correctly, Very helpful video :D

Also my eye line is way off because I am too short if I have my chair high enough for eye level then my feet are dangling off the floor but also my arms arent in a straight position other cause im sitting so low compared to my desk........ LOL fml

Honestly I will never find gaming on a chair comfortable. Laying down or seated on a couch will forever be the best way to game.
Sitting at a deck is extremely uncomfortable regardless of how much support a chair can give you. You’re always going to get back problems later on if you’re a desk gamer

My monitors are positioned as far away as possible and just above my eyeline, so the whole setup is geared toward sitting slightly back, rather than upright or forward.

I've run this setup for a year, and there is an issue with this advice.
The primary + secondary monitor advice, I did this for a year and now have a lot of pain with my neck. I've run it by 2 physios and a chiropractor after I had significant pain in the left side of my neck from heavy computer use (with hourly breaks etc). It was quite apparent that having to crane my neck to the "secondary monitor" has caused a lot of pain and tightness, and instead opting for both of the monitors to be even and not have to crane to look over to the secondary monitor has basically resolved this pain.
So maybe it might work for other people? But just anecdotally, I found this advice ended up with a lot of pain and problems exclusively in the side of the neck that the secondary monitor was.

Hello Franco, great video and thanks for sharing. Really came in during a handy time.
I'm having a question to you and maybe to everyone else who might read this comment.
I recently switched from using arm rests to testing more than half of my forearm on the desk, it feels more comfortable and stable performance wise to play this way.
However I noticed that without the arm rests there is much more pressure below the palm of my hand, in fact the pressure transfers to the Pisiform bone of the hand, using the arm rests I get less pressure there but it prevents me to get close to the desk and I kinda have to reach forward all the time.
If anyone experience the same problem with pressure on that pisiform bone, feel free to share. Maybe anyone has a solution to this?
Thanks again for the video, quality content :)

I honestly think that's a given with KBAM gaming. I get it too sometimes but I have a low profile keyboard and a spongy mat to rest my hand on. If it starts to hurt I'll just pick my hand up for a while. Try putting some soft padding under your hand that should help.

Great vid. I see how far apart your monitors are and it looks like you have two seperate monitor arms. Is that correct? Using a dual monitor arm would never give you that much space between two 27" monitors

I have separate arms for each monitor. I don't mind the gap. and I have it because I have my camera sitting in the space to the left, and my mic in the space to the right. This is an old video, but I have a more recent video showing my desk set up. Because I stream, I have some equipment that needs to fit somewhere.

i just had my monitor on my right because it seems better than the left, i dont know why i felt like this but its always been like that even before i had my pc. i had an xbox and a crappier pc (an old hp pc) and the monitor used for that would be on the right, i had it on the left for about one month back in like 2016-2018 and i didnt like it.

man! I thought this was one of those cringe youtube videos that I skipped on clicking on it several times before I finally decided to see if my impression was right. I am so sorry I judged it without first viewing the content, This video was done very professionally and I admit I learned some tips. big thumbs up!

What about resting your forearms on the armrests of your chair if they are the same height as your desk?
    Thanks, loved the video!

I personally prefer the monitor to be low enough for the top of the monitor to be at eye level. Eyes slightly low while gaming

For years I could t figure out why I would naturally over time adjust my monitor to be slightly crooked , it’s cuz my dominant eye makes it feel centered but when you step back and look it’s completely off .😂😂

5:06 I watched a video saying to have the top of the monitor at eye level, not the center of the screen. I always thought it was the center. Thoughts?

    • @FracnoTV
      @FracnoTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That's a common suggestion, but I believe it brings the monitor too low. The suggestion I make in this video feels better for me, and was something I learned from a Physical Therapist I worked with whom I respect greatly. I would say, try both and see how they feel and figure out which one keeps your neck closest to neutral.

@@FracnoTV I also tried this for a while and I feel when the screen is too high I get neck pain as well as when it is too low. Going for the top part on eye level works best for me atm.

Can you do a review on your standing desk? I've been wanting to get one but there are so many to choose from in such a large price range I'm not sure which are good and/or how much I should be spending to get a good one.
