I actually ordered one of these this weekend. I have a few, my Infinity is a fantastic detail brush, but I don’t like switching needles all the time to base coat and work on larger areas. The 2024 Evolution will be set up specifically for this purpose. My Iwata will be handed down to my 13yo nephew. It will be his first brush. It’s a great brush, but I hate the trigger on it.
Agree. H&S are knocking it out of the park with their helpful videos great customer service and amazing brushes. Your channel is a blessing to the community!! 😎😎
I received mine yesterday, August 15, here in Stockholm/Sweden by post. Amazing Airbrush.! I have been painting since 1991 with various IWATA's and enjoy them but this H&S Evolution stole my heart already at the first test. I just love it :)
Have to buy one asap! I have the old Ultra and have upgraded it with the same horn cap. It made the Ultra much better. Instead of buying several cheap brushes, go for something proper right away. It is the smarter and cheaper way🤗
Another great brush from H&S Rob as a company they seemed to have pulled their fingers out and have upped their game and are now producing some top quality guns. I like to think that they have listen to your comments and made the changes needed to make this a very nice airbrush🙏👍
Like Zondrakj, I was also wondering: can the new improved trigger be installed in the older Evolution, and Infinity for that matter? Be nice to fix the trigger lag on the older airbrushes with the upgraded trigger [I've got 4, for example]? Excellent video, by the way, as always!
Tried this brush in a local shop. A good quality general purpose airbrush with some new features. However experienced user won't feel necessary and spend 140 USD just because it is new. 😅 Instead I bought the H&S air valve and connected to my Infinity which turn it from a nice brush to a wonderful brush. Since I bought the infinity although it is nice, but expensive and not as great as it should be. Now more than great. 😊
The evolution has alot more respons in the trigger now and a better trigger top and comes with a 0.28mm set up which works better than the original 0.2mm The old infinity is still one of my favourites especially my custom one h&s make quality brushes
again great video they really upped the airbrush game i can't recommend other brushes anymore to be hones they paint great they clean easy and its all interchangeable so if you want to make a cheap detail brush just buy the smallest needle nozzle set and your done.
Just treated myself to the superb Ultra 2024. I am looking at getting myself a 0.28mm nozzle setup and the 2ml cup H&S are releasing next year for the Ultra. The 2-in-1 Evolution is looking tempting as well, but I wonder what the main difference between an Ultra 2024 with 0.28mm setup and pincer cap and an Evolution 2024 with the same setup would be, softer trigger tension aside
@@dredfxcustompaint when is that coming out? I'm definitely going to try one or the other, I love my microns, incredible brushes, but they always have a tendency to be a bit 'touchy' and 'temperamental' 🤣. Great channel by the way, I've neglected TH-cam recently but planning on doing some more airbrush related content soon 👊🏼
@@dredfxcustompaint look forward to it, I'll no doubt be tempted by it. Thanks for the info! We should get an airbrush podcast going in the UK. It's something I've thought about for a while.........
This is a great review, but there's a few things I had trouble with as an "out of box" experience from the 2024 Evolution. First, the back was screwed on absurdly tightly - way more than finger-tight. When I tried to take off just the back, the whole gold mid section turned as well so my first "experience" in trying to take the needle out was that the mid _and_ back assembly came away together which was mildly terrifying especially for the needle tip coming out backwards inside a more open body. I had to use rubber gloves just to get enough finger grip to separate the back from the gold mid section outside of the airbrush body. It's okay now, but that first experience was scary. I don't understand the o-ring in the middle - if you screw the end over it fully, the cut-out sits weirdly (slightly off horizontal) and the o-ring underneath creates _way too much friction_ with the back cover whereas the front section is just threaded. It seems the _intention_ is that you just twist it up to sit gently against the ring? If it's fully done up, when you undo the silver back, the gold mid section _always_ unscrews with the back - not what you want! It's a head-scratching design choice. This wasn't an issue on the Silverline (even though it didn't have the cut-out) as the rear screws fully into the mid section. It's odd that the 2024 was designed this way. If there was a second o-ring with the front threading to make it grippier so the mid section is less likely to twist first, that might have made sense. But I still don't get the exposed mid o-ring. Also out of the box, the chucking nut on mine was done up absurdly tight. Way, way beyond finger tight. It took a lot of careful attempts to loosen it (so as not to damage anything) so that the needle could be removed safely. Similarly, the friction fit of the front prongs was scary to remove the first time because it's also so tight out of the box. If you don't realise it's friction fit, the knurling of the cap suggests intuitively that _that's_ the part to undo, and you end up removing the entire front needle packing by accident. I ended up pulling the needle back out of the way and using nylon soft-jaw pliers to get it off, which still took some careful doing. Once it was removed the first time, it became easy to take on and off but again. The Silverline was similary odd as while its cap _was_ threaded, they didn't add knurling to indicate that just the cap could be removed. I'm not sure why the 2024 is friction fit, perhaps so you can change the preferred angle? Once I figure these three issues out, it's been a solid airbrush. The out of the box experience though? It definitely has some "gotchas".
I know this sort of thing happens its very rare I went to the h&s factory and seen how the testers assemble the brushes everything is spot on but as I say this Does happen. Glad you liked the video but most of all glad your enjoying the brush
Would love to know how the triggers on the evo2024 and the ps270/ps771 compare. Both have gotten good reviews from you (assuming I understand what you’re saying 😏)

Really dig your content on the mechanical side of airbrushing like this. I'm currently looking to upgrade my 10 year old Krome that has served me well. I though it was hands down going to be the Giraldez Infinity but after seeing what H&S did to the Evolution I may now wait for the Infinity 2024. I can see where they took some of the Giraldez and put it into the Evolution. Any idea when the 2024 Infinity is to be released?
Thanks again , Ordered it a few days ago. You've just wound up the anticipation on getting my hands on it. Just one point are you saying this brush doesn't need any oil after a good clean down? Keep the fire burning! 🔥🔥🔥
Hey, Rob - you've tested the Giraldez Infinity, it seems like it is a hybrid with some 2024 components. Do you think it's worth picking up or should I just wait for the Infinity 2024?
Have you had any problems with air leaks on this or the ultra 2024? My ultra 2024 has an air leak it seems the pin in the air valve is too long. Would you happen to have a fix for that that is not me using a spacer until h&S get back to me about getting the valve replaced?
Try to adjust the valve with it's little screw on it's bottom. Had this problem with my evo but a few turns out with the screw solved it! You just need a small flathead screwdriver for that!
