Picked it up at my Sam's club here in Florida 2 weeks ago. $19.98! Now on my 2nd bottle. Totally agree with your review. One of the best everyday budget bottles available, you won't be disappointed.
I'm with Kurt - not a big "Jim Beam" label fan. However, I love Knob Creek. So I am ready to give this JB 7-year a try as soon as I can find one! Thank you!
I like the “let’s rationalize getting a bottle for home etc “ hilarious! My first Beam was 1969 and it never fails to take the edge off a hard days work! The older Beams definitely were treats along the way. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!
I got one last week and this is $22 in my area. It’s one of my new favorite budget pours… it has a much better balance to it than other budget Beam products
Definitely gonna give this a shot. But also, the Booker’s comparison you gotta remember that the Booker’s barrels are put together in Booker’s personal sweet spot of the warehouse where it gets the best air circulation and mix between high and dry and sweet and low. I think the warehouse influence is probably the biggest factor in what makes Booker’s what it is.
I started my bourbon journey with Jim Beam. This makes me very happy to have such a rich bourbon at a great budget price! I can't wait to see it arrive in Michigan.
After watching this video, I picked up a bottle of this after work today. I agree, a solid budget bottle indeed. For me though, the wild turkey 101 wins the head to head. Great thing about bourbon is everyone’s palate is different so there’s no right or wrong. Thanks for the video SLB!
I have to try this one now. I never thought I'd go back to Jim Beam/Jack Daniels products after my bad experiences in high school with them but, my current favorite bottle on my shelf is my local stores pick of a Jack Daniels single barrel rye. I went back and bought two backups after a couple pours ....
The "now hang on!" 😂 There's nothing I love more than a solid bottle under $30. I just finished my benchmark single barrel (which i enjoyed for $25) and was debating on what to buy next. Looks like this is it!
Of you have had the classic old grand dad 114 , you.might need that in your life. Cheap high proof and taatey. It is pretty heavy on cinimon , I thibk that makes a killer old fashioned.
I had suggested on facebook to do a 2024 budget bottle episode. This goes along with that and i will definitely look for this. I do like beam products that i have tried and i do like wild turkey. I have yet to find a Jack Daniels product that i really like. They are not terrible, I am just not a fan. I will definitely look for this in my area. Get well Trenton.
I haven't had regular Jim beam for 10-15 years. I had the Jim beam single barrel about 5 years ago...but I love Bookers and the intentions behind each profile of it. I also really like Little Book. 😃😃
Just bought some today. Here in Texas it is $33 for a 1.75L bottle which works out to be just over $14 for a 750ml size. Can't beat that bargain for an easy sipper!
Went to my local store where they got 1 bottle of the Jim Beam black 7 yr and as a Beam fan I had to grab it for $24.99. It’s very good and probably my favorite budget bottle. local liquor shop did get a couple cases in so I think it’ll be everywhere
I love KC9, and when it goes on sale at grocery stores I've bought KC9 as low as 28 when on sale and you buy multiple bottles, and I cant see myself saving 2-5 bucks to go from 9 year to 7 year and 100 proof to 90proof for this. Still great review and happy to hear a distillery is still trying to put out better low price options.
Can't wait to check this one out! I haven't seen anyone really talk about it, and I'm not quite sure how wide it's distribution is. But another great budget bourbon is David Nicholson 1883 White Label. Runs for about $30 out here in AZ
When I started to have drinks. I used to have Jim beam. Then I had other things that where awesome. Now I have to go back to my beginning. Wild Turkey 101 is one of my favs. So the 7 year sounds nice. I’m on the out look for it now. Thank you for the good videos too guys. Stay awesome.
Haven’t bought a bottle of anything in about six months, because moneys been very tight. This sounds like something I should try. Thanks for all the great suggestions.
Excited to grab this. Beam is the king of budget stuff that drinks well for the price. In fact Old Tub has been my go to for a few years now. BiB and drinks well neat and in cocktails.
It's great to see the big players pulling out all the stops in such a saturated and competitive market. Products like this puts the pressure on across the bourbon world for good pours at a great price.
Picked up this bottle last Saturday. Specifically, as Trenton pointed out, because the labeling caught my eye. Then, the price (it was $19.98). I guess this will need to be sampled this evening. Can't wait ! The timing on this couldn't be better. Thanx guys.
I have been a big Turkey fan for a long time so I am interested in finding a bottle of the Beam Black 7 year to give it a try. I do like many of the Beam products and I will be glad to welcome another good budget priced bourbon to the group. Thanks for the review!
I've held out on buying Jim Beam. I was served an Old Fashioned w/ Beam and it was delicious. Had another, same. Bought a bottle last week and surprise, Dad's old go to bottle is just fine. Have to try the 7 year now..and I do love WT 101, it's my first bourbon buy.
I have an empty JB Black bottle from the mid 90’s. This was my go to back then and it was $24. On the front label it had stated Double Aged, Aged 8 Years, front and center on every bottle. It was 86 proof then also. Now the bottles just read extra aged, this started in 2015, and they sell for $20, so it is anyone’s guess as to how old Jim Beam Black is now days. So the 7 year is almost what it used to be 25 years ago. And the price is the same.
$25 for the black, in the 90's? You got robbed at the time, but well worth it today. I've still got 3 bottles of the 8 year black bunkered back home. They retailed for about $18 where white lable was $12-13 round about 2014/2015 when the EA version came out. I bought every bottle of the 8 year I could still find. The 'extra aged' was a 5 to 7 year product that they claimed was made with hand picked barrels blended to taste the same as the 8 year it replaced. That's what they claimed, but I never liked it and ended up finding a new daily drinker.
Early Times BIB definately is is my #1 after scoring 2 bottles finally here in St. Petersburg, Fl @ $ 19.99 each which was a clear steal! I am a WT101, EW BIB ,OF100 ,Fighting Cock, Ezra Brooks99, OGDBIB fan ( all great values) but the Early Times BIB is my new #1 😎I will definately try the JB 7 yr for sure!
Something about age stated bourbon makes a difference. Brought a WT101 8 year from travels and it is so good, I think it beats an average Kentucky Spirit batch, and blows RR10 year out of the water. Totally believe what they’re saying about this Beam product-will be on the lookout.
I like both JB and WT so this just shows I need to get a bottle of Black JB. Knob creek single barrel is my go to. It’s available and it’s affordable which is what I’m all about. Great new looking bottle design from JB the old version is a bit plain. Enjoy!!
Yet, another great review. Thank you for sharing! I relate to the interaction with your son, Trent. I have a similar relationship with my son. I love every minute that we share! Cheers to you both!
Trent had nearly the same facial/physical reaction to the first sip that he had when he tasted ECBP C923 and it made me laugh almost just as hard. This stuff surprised me and I honestly enjoy it alot. It's a great easy going pour to just hang out with and even works well as a starter pour for the evening. Cheers fellas!
Back when Beam Black had the 8 year age statement, I thought it was a superb budget bottle. They went away from the 8 years and the quality suffered. So happy to see them bring this back.
Concur. One year less but higher proof at a low price. Good deal. I get the Single Barrel between $20-25 around here, but I wouldn't turn down a glass of the 7 year.
the 8 year was my go to bottle for years, liked it better than anything at nearly twice the price. The 5 to 7 year Extra Aged version of black pushed me in to other products. ended up with buffalo Trace as my daily. Liked the white label better than the "extra aged" version.
I've tasted both and quite honestly it seems that Beam saturated the marked with Baker 7 and then changed the label to the Beam 7. They taste identical.
Knob Creek 9 to me would be a better comparison. Closer proof and price. Comparing anything to any single barrel product is a fools game since the single barrel will change in profile/taste constantly. Knob Creek 9, Wild Turkey 101/Rare Breed and Makers Cask are my 3 go to bourbons depending on my mood.
Nice video! I love the budget reviews. I love WT101, but I am also a big Knob Creek fan. Can't find KC12 near me. 😪 However, Beam 7 is in North Dallas area and is $22.99 for 750ml and $39.99 for 1.75L. 😁I know what my next try will be!
Love the curveball T served up. Great way to reduce observer bias in your tasting. I will run out and buy this because I am currently SUPER annoyed at the crazy high prices for decent but not exciting bourbons and whiskeys.
Thank you gentlemen for the product information and comparison. Kurt, first glass to you my friend! I am getting very low in the cabinet on some daily sips and weekly pours. The budget has been hit so hard with all the price increases on everything. I will definitely pickup a bottle of this as well as some T101. Thank you both...
Picked this up today after watching this video also grabbed some old forester 100 cuz why the hell not, I did like it, the nose was like caramel candy with something else in there idk I’m bad at notes still lol, but well worth the money, great bottle to bring to a friends house who mixes with pop you can both enjoy it
Great vid, I love the invite you put out and so far I pretty much agree with both of you, still very young in the bourbon game and I was wondering if there is any major difference between Kentucky bourbon and Tennessee bourbon other than location, have you every done a Ky vs Tn blind?
I picked up my first bottle of Jim Beam 7yr. Black a couple weeks ago at Sam’s for $24.00 I was also pleasantly surprised. I’ll be getting another one soon. 😎👍👏🏻
Thank you so much for the video. I never would’ve thought to try the Jim Beam seven I bought a bottle on Friday man thank you thank you thank you that is delicious. I got the 1.75 L bottle for $42 in western Arkansas. It is delicious thank you very much, I love your videos
I passed on this bottle yesterday thinking it was just a new label on the extra aged, back in the 80s I used to drink white label before they reduced the proof. I have to have a bottle now, since y'all are the third to give it such a good review. Cheers 🍻
Great video. I just want to say that I think JB makes some great products. I bought a bottle of Jb black 7 and a bottle of Buffalo Trace the same day. Both are equally sweet and have a similar flavor profile except the JB, at least on my side of the fence, doesn’t hold a candle to BT. IMO, the JB comes off flat like a coke that has lost its carbonation. Bottom line, I prefer JB EXTRA AGED BLACK to the BLACK 7.
The jim beam. Black extra aged used to carry a eight year age statement. They took it away around 9 years ago. And now I brought it back 1 year younger.
I just bought my third bottle of Jim Beam Black 7 yrs today. But two of my family members who shop where I buy It to be sure to pick me up another bottle any time they are there.... I also picked up Evan Willliams 1783. But tonight for a change I had a few nips of Courvoisier VS Cognac. and watching the Bronx Rally Its a Good Night...

Haven't seen it on the shelf here in Texas yet but I'll be on the lookout now. I like Beam Black, and Knob, and Bookers. Id love to find another good budget bottle.
I just bought a bottle of this last weekend out of curiosity. At the price point I figured, what the heck. I, like you, was shocked when I tasted it. I was completely open minded and thought, "did I just find a new every day drinker?" I really like the Evan Williams 1783 and would have said that it's the best $25 bottle you could buy. Now, I would say this is the best $25 bottle on the shelf.
This video is the definition of this channel, let's identify and share really good and really affordable (aka GREAT VALUE) whiskeys. Thanks for the excuse to stop by a few liquor stores tomorrow guys!
I like the JB black extra aged except for the proof point. But for a cheap, low proof sipper its solid. Looking forward to trying this one. I have JB SB and a Bakers 107 to try it against as well.
Finally got my hands on one and it reminds me of Eagle Rare in that it’s lower proof with a solid age. For those who love Eagle rare but can’t find it for the right price.
Just picked up a bottle and it's pretty good...but doesn't have the 'this is my favorite bourbon' feel that the old 8 year black did for me. My tastes have probably changed over the years, so it may be that the old black wasn't as good, but I still have a bottle back home I'll have to taste it up against. Back in the day the 8 year Black was my go to bottle and preferred over anything available up to twice the price. These days Buffalo Trace is my go to, but Beam white label is still my cheap bourbon of choice. When they switched to the 5-7 year "extra aged" black I stopped drinking it, preferred the white label to that version.
Like Kurt....I'm not a majority likeness of JB Products, they are bottom shelver whiskey for the most, it being a little thin even for a 7yr.....not surprising, I'll probably get a pour at my favorite watering hole, but I will more than likely get that same astringent JB after taste. WT you just can count on that consistent overall well balanced classic true bourbon taste.
I enjoy WT101, OF 100 and OGD Bonded, finally got a Early Times BIB so I’ll gladly enjoy adding this to the budget lineup 😊🥃 Great review and head to head guys🥃🥃
According to the Jim Beam tour we took last month, the Jim Beam Black 7 year you are drinking is actually the same JB Black they have had out for years. The only difference is the original Black label was actually a 8 year. They stamped the age statement on it to try and upsell. I would LOVE it if you guys tried the JB Double Barrel. Its in the same price range and is fantastic.
Beam came out with a couple budget winners before with the Repeal Batch and the Distiller's Cut. I'll be looking for the Beam 7 to see if it compares. Originally, the Beam black was aged 8 yrs, but they dropped that a few years ago. Its morphed a couple times since then. Hopefully this one is a as good as the other ones.
Darn darn darn, now I’ve gotta go out and buy JB7 before the price goes up. You two are the cause of beverage price increases 🤣😂. Great show guys but I’ll NEVER give up my WT101😂.
Picked up my second bottle of Jim Beam Black 7 years today to replace the first bottle . Would you believe it was at Sam's for $18.00. Well worth the price...
I already knew that Jim Beam can produce stuff that I like even more than Wild Turkey 101 - my favorite bourbon is Knob Creek. But I never expected to see something with the Jim Beam name on it beat the Turkey. I'll have to look for the 7 year next time I'm getting something I've not had before.

I mean Wild Turkey 101 basically is a control pour because its just so quintessential.
Good point. It is so good for like $20. It’s the standard
I love the Wild Turkey! I'm presently enjoying the Rare Breed. fantastic stuff!
It's so over rated even bb Evan Williams cuts it down

Thank you so much for the video. I never would’ve thought to try the Jim Beam seven I bought a bottle on Friday man thank you thank you thank you that is delicious. I got the 1.75 L bottle for $42 in western Arkansas. It is delicious thank you very much, I love your videos
How’s it compare to bakers?
Howdy boys!!!! I love those budget picks as well!!! Strong work!!!
Excited to find this one. Been going through all the Beam offerings. Haven't done Black yet, so maybe it was a good thing I held off on it.
Now how was mentioning the Bronx Rally appropriate to your opinion of bourbon?
@@rsuss123 It was a celebration of a sorts....And so will be Nov 5th be a time to celebrate too. God Bless America! I'm a veteran who loves his country. Any time Marxistism is being fought against, I'll drink to that...I was enjoying the night with a bit of the spirits... Oh and How and what I celebrate is non of your concern. If you want to drink to an open border, that is your business too.. Lets Go Brandon.
@@rsuss123 I realized that you are totally right... This is about learning about what is good to try out there.. Won't happen again.
Haven't seen it on the shelf here in Texas yet but I'll be on the lookout now. I like Beam Black, and Knob, and Bookers. Id love to find another good budget bottle.
I love when budget bottles have age statements. I’m going to have to keep my eye out for one of these.
I will have to look for a bottle this weekend.
I'm with you guys, Not a shelf bottle Beam fan but those tasting notes are right in my wheelhouse.
Great show fellas! Not traditionally a Jim Beam fan, but I’m definitely seeing this one out to try!
what's the difference of this from the "regular" JB Black which was already "extra aged"? (and my go to for some time)
Finally got my hands on one and it reminds me of Eagle Rare in that it’s lower proof with a solid age.
Thank you for continuing to expand my pallet.
I love Bakers 7 so cant wait to try this!
Haven’t found this locally at Binnys, but I did see it on Total Wine for $21.99.
Hey guys..what is the purpose of spinning the glass in your hand before you sniff it?
What size is that bottle ? I Love Beam White Lable
Except that's 86 proof
Taste tested both this and OG black & altho it's subtle this 1 tastes better
I’ll give it a try - I wish it had a cork instead of a plastic screw-top.
Oh and great to see you back Trent hope you get better soon 👍 ❤
Because of your review, I picked up a 1.75L @Hy-Vee in Iowa for $46.99. Tastes like dark chocolate. Great for the money.
