I worked in the automotive parts business for 25 years... you really do excellent work! Of course, you really can't fudge over anything while the cameras are on... you have to be on your A game. I get the feeling that your work ethic doesn't care if you're on candid camera or not... you would still do the same great job because you have high standards. This type of work ethic is becoming rare these days. I like to find old guys to do any type of skilled labor I may need, and I hope that they are training the next generation at their skill.
They should wait on watching the video.. They’ll need something to watch while they’re sitting on the side of the Interstate waiting on AAA 😂😂😂😂😂… nice job Scott..
As an owner of a 2018 MKT, thanks for keeping this one on the road! I love these cars. they are under appreciated. Best road-trip car, and such a bargain for what you get. As long as the PTU fluid is serviced with trans-oil changes every 30k, along with 5k synth oil changes, they are rock-solid reliable. Your work was perfectly matched to the repair. No obsessive detailing, but certainly not sloppy. My only remaining fear was about that cracked valve cover. I would have been super-paranoid about a bit of the cover falling into the valve train.
Hey Scott, I once had a supervisor like yours. I found that if she was about to report me for something, she could be bribed with bacon. Hope this tip helps out at some point. Thanks for the video!
I always thought that thing looked like a herse! Ugly car! You confirmed it! You are right about that fatal water pump design. The water pump coolant leaks coolant into the oil pan upon failure, which causes catastrophic engine failure! On 3.5 & 3.7 transverse mounted... Scary! Best for last! Scott: "Ford glues the fenders on to make it quieter while you (and the casket) are waiting for the tow truck to come get you on the side of the road from a breakdown"! LOL!!!
Always enjoy watching you repair vehicles. The running comments makes it even better...I have learned so much from your videos, Thanks! Can hardly wait for the next one.
There’s something satisfying about all those clicks when you’re snapping it back together.. lol your Ford references are spot on, I’d have a donkey in my driveway before I owned another Ford.
@@vehcor Cool !! I am not a slave to any brand but we bought a new Lincoln Nautilus and had troubles. We had to go to Cadillac because they would give us 10,000 dollars more for the broken Lincoln than Lincoln would give us on buying a 1 year newer one.
6:37 the WORST is when you've fished something through and got it all nice and neat and look back and see it wrapped around something it shouldn't be. I was installing a dishwasher one time and got the wiring wrapped around the drain. It was an ABS cemented in place one. I cut it out and put a new one in. I had one in my tool box and $4.00 was a lot easier than 2 freaking hours of fishing wire through metal studs......
Finally got time to watch. My wifes in the hospital. Need lots of prayers. Scott as always a great job! They all know where to go to get it done right! Stay safe and be well.
Super job as always Scott! You have the best vehicle repair channel on TH-cam. I was kind of surprised the owner didn’t want the scratches on the rear bumper repaired. Maybe they have new stickers…….😂 See you in the next installment. Have a great weekend!
Turned out great Scott as all your rebuilds do. The owner has to be extremely pleased with the car now. Better than new. You are the best in the business. Great video.
Love the humor. It especially resonated with the weather, the news, and just the general state of the zoo show of the " state of the nation". Nice dog. Have 3 at my feet at this very momet.
I love your attention to detail. I know it is necessary, but so many people doing these repairs that shouldn’t be…glad you do it right! (“Somebody’s been here before…”)
Very good rebuilding work. No doubt there are rebuilders and body shop people who would benefit by seeing the honest conscientious work you do. Making the worlders better one quality rebuilt at a time. Thanks from the iui brermountain west.
1:01 a buddy bought a boat with a radar arch. So he went out and bought a really fancy radar system. Only problem? the plug was too big to get through the joint where it bolted to the hull. So his brother who was into electronics, disconnected the 128 pins...OH MY FREAKING GOD. I was shocked when they plugged it in and it worked.
In 3 years I have never had one complaint with your amazing work. I would have got rid of all that aftermikky wiring and for sure cleaned and greased the battery posts.
Love all the comments about doing all that extra crap when your job is getting it back to pre crash condition, it's what the job is not a restore at your expense. Great work and commentary as usual Scott.
Great job. I don't want to be "that guy" but this is TH-cam after all. That battery hold down bracket could have used a bit of love (and a touch of paint). There, I said it.
@@vehcor I mentioned it just because you put so much attention to detail into your builds. The detailing gnome did a beautiful job cleaning the vehicle. The engine compartment was almost spotless. Unfortunately, the battery hold down is the fist thing I saw because it stood out and looked like it didn't belong in an otherwise clean engine bay.
That electronic rust prevention device works really well, judging by all the rust under the vehicle. They were still advertising this scam device here in Australia last year. You'd thing authorities would clamp down on this scam, but they don't seem to.
After watching you clip all them pieces 🤣 I now know why it looks like a box of Legos exploded on the street when you see one get wrecked lol 😆. God bless
They still make a similar vehcile for hearse duty, though it's not tagged as an MKT. A lot of area funeral homes homes in my area still have these in black. I used to have a silver Flex not a bad CUV for a Ford. I just bought a used Chrysler Pacifica a few days ago and when I was shopping, the sales person asked if I had any particular color that I wanted. My reply: any color but black. The funeral homes use black Pacificas to tote the flower arrangements to the church and back to the parlor. Before Pacificas, they would use black Town and Countries or Grand Caravans. Black is one vehicle color I've never owned. Why do I think of this? I have worked as a church musician from over 45 years and still do.😁
I'm having a hard time imagining a casket in there. Does it fit right in next to the driver up against the passenger dashboard? Could that be a health code violation? Why not a Prius hearse?
It's a big job. Would have been another day and at the dealer its like 2-3k. But they don't all go bad, the one in there could go 10 years more before needing replacement.
I'm quite sure there's more efficient, and cheaper, ways to hunt deers but people do what they want. Though I think those are easier to hit with a car, truck would be even better
Thanks you too. My dump trailer is doing fine, currently holding about 4 tons of the pile. My car trailer just got back from Virginia and doing well. The landscape trailers are just as bad as always! 😂
the cathodizer corrosion control thingy _can_ work but needs an ablative block to "rust" away instead of the steel. (Saltwater boats use zinc blocks below the waterline that get replaced regularly) If there's no ablative block it'll happily corrode that fender instead...
@@AlexSwavely it’s a fine word, but for electrolytic purposes, it ‘sacrificial.’ Just like the anode in your hot water tank. The zinc anode on your boat engine is sacrificial, too.
