Personally, I would have just ran the old one -- and kept this one safe for a backup. That's a sweet car though. I bought an Acura MDX in 2019, 3 rows of heated leather seats, moon roof, heated mirrors, navigation/ rear camera -- which are common now, but back then that was unheard of; It's AWD, duel climate COLD ac.. Super cold/ and the fan blows your hair back. Only 155k miles, zero rust, zero dents and absolutely zero leaks anywhere on this thing-- which shocked me. I crawled all over it and it's very clean underneath- not a drip of oil anywhere on it.. And they must have just recently put new tires on it -- because they were 90 to 95% new.. And I only paid $1700. lol.. I absolutely stole this thing-- it's such a good car. The interior looks just like this Mercedes in the video.... I don't have that diesel engine, but It's a 3.5L Honda Vtec, which are pretty legendary in their own right.. It's crazy what deals are out there if you just keep looking all the time. My S211 E 320 CDI now has 635,000 kilometers on it. For Americans, that is close to 400,000 miles. So your wonderful blue E-Class has got much more life in it. I am a mechanic working for Mercedes-Benz here in Austria and I bought my car new back in 2008. The most important thing is regularly maintaining your car. Mine gets an oil change every 10,000-12,000 km. By doing this, you ensure that the oil doesn't degrade or dilute with diesel. I wish you many more happy miles with your car.

    • @dereinegreg
      @dereinegreg 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cahitakbay if you want to go with an E 320 CDI, I can recommend buying one that hat its oil cooler replaced already, because this is a very expensive repair to have done. Around 2000€ up to 4000€. And definetely check the timing chain. When you check the car, make sure that the engine is cold, so you can hear if the timing chain is rattling. If it is, you can expect another 500€ to 2000€ of repair costs. On my car, I have done all of the expensive repairs, since I am a mechanic myself. And try avoiding cars with SBC brake systems. If the unit fails, that is another 1500€ to 2000€. These cars weren‘t cheap back then, and many have a lot of extras and options. Everything can fail, since these cars are getting older and not younger.

      Which is better and why?
      Here in Europe, Mercedes, BMW and AUDI, among with some italian and UK branded cars, are committed to be the best premium cars globally. I refuse it. I do believe that many cars from other countries have equally good premium cars...

    Here in Europe is not uncommon to see this kind of cars hit the 1 million km mark on the odometer, specially as cabs (taxi owners). A friend of mine bought the exact same E320 second hand, in the same colour (looks gorgeous in the flesh), and he didn't mind the 600.000 km figure on the dashboard. The car was running flawlessly and the best was that the interior was incredibly well maintained.

    The purple silicone seals for the oil cooler are the good ones btw, the ones with leaking issues were the ones used in the earlier made engines with black rubber.

    Words of advise from my experience salvaging vintage Mercedes-Benz trucks, vans and cars.
    One can often save money when you get a U-HAUL trailer for one-way travel. Not always, but it's worth checking.
    Benefits are that you don't have to haul an empty trailer. And save cash with a single day rental!

    Regarding the oil cooler seals, it seems that they have been, at some point, replaced because the new ones are purple, while the originals are orange. I had a leak in my S 320 CDI (@ 375.00km/235.000 Mile), due to these seals and it cost a lot of money just in handwork. Great decision! Great engine, it's hard as a 🪨. If you have any query about this engine, do not hesitate to ask me! Greetings from Spain!

    I really enjoyed your video I have a 2012 S350 with basically the same engine. I love those engines and i have put many miles on mine. These cars are unbelievably strong if you maintain them. Many problems that these cars have are not because they are bad cars. The problem frequently is that these cars end up in the hands of bad owners.

      @@WaldosWorld looks like you didn't prime/purge the oil circuit. The best practice is to replace the oil cooler, and then crank the engine several times without the injectors installed (no crank load). There is a high likelihood of the new engine spinning the rear rod and main bearings, but you might have been lucky that the engine didn't start on the first time.
