I think what is meant is how it’s so easy for most neurotypical people to participate in and find community(relative to a neurodivergent person), and if something goes wrong usually they have at least an inkling of what it is. However, a lot of neurodivergents don’t have any of that. If they are able to find community with neurotypicals, yes it feels great, but you still constantly feel confused, othered, or alone because you’re not experiencing the same type or rate of neuron firing. It can be very isolating and anxiety inducing to not know these social things that almost everyone else learns relatively easily. And most people refuse to explain it to you. They just get mad and stop talking to you or start secretly hating you until they blow up because they don’t understand the need to have it explained, no matter how many times you ask.
there are weird neurotypical people, and weird neurodivergent people. i think we need to stop using titles to describe ourselves, because if you think of Frank Sinatra or Selena Gomez you don't think of their bipolar as the first thing y'know? Like, it doesn't define a person, it just can make things more difficult.
