Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US. Recorded Nov. 2019
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

For those confused about the trinity, here are 2 examples I’ve heard. Hopefully this can give you a better understanding!
    Water:
Water can be in 3 different states - liquid, ice, and gas. They are all different, yet they’re still water.
    Humans:
Father, son, uncle - different, yet they can still be 1 person. 1 man can be a father, son, and uncle all at the same time.
    Trinity:
The trinity are like those examples. They are all God, yet they are also separate (Father, Son, Holy Spirit)

THANK YOU Cliffe for responding to why Africans accept Jesus Christ. Not because HE IS WHITE or was brought by 'civilised' folk. It really angers me when people make this point, it is actually deeply racist and prejudice. Because it assumes we cannot think for ourselves and diminishes the effort it takes to forgive those who we forgive.

When you write down your thoughts on a page you put those thoughts into 2 dimensions. When you speak, your word travels in the form of sound waves, when you play a video game with an avatar you enter into the game and inside that game you action in another space. You are human and you can be in more than one place at a time and you are 1 person, so why can't God do the same? Father stays in Heaven, actions through the Holy Spirit & His son Yeshua(Jesus)?

    • @JohnCashin
      @JohnCashin 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, I understand what you are trying to say and I appreciate your effort to explain the concept with this analogy. I've heard similar ideas before but in a video game you don't really enter into another space and it's not really you, it's a VIRTUAL space and a VIRTUAL representation of you in the form of an avatar that has no independent mind or action outside of what you input into the game and it certainly wouldn't pray to you, yet, we read in the Bible that Jesus prayed to the Father and even said "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done". Which begs the question, why would he say such a thing to himself and talk to himself in this kind of "mine and yours" kind of a way??
Well, I have often asked this and many Christians have come and gone trying to explain the Trinity and how Jesus and God are supposed to be one and yet one remained in Heaven whilst the other died on a cross on Earth with various analogies and none of them really work., although they all make admirable efforts, just as you have here.
I think the best thing that Christians can say about the Trinity though is that it is a mystery beyond human comprehension. I have known some Christians who do just say this and those are the ones I have the highest respect for because it is surely the most honest thing anyone could say about it.
They just say that somehow, God is three in one but no human being can explain how this is possible because, in our reality, that makes no sense. We might be different things to different people but none of us can split into two independent beings whilst still being one and the same, so, if there is a God who can do that, then it would be beyond us and it would be folly for us in our limitation to try to explain such a concept. The same answer could be given by Christians to many other questions, eg, why doesn't God just wipe out Satan? Why doesn't God just show himself to atheists and prove atheism false? Why did God create Adam and Eve on Earth when he could have made them in Heaven like he supposedly made the angels, including Lucifer (AKA Satan)?
Again, the most honest thing that Christians can say is "I don't know" and Cliffe often does say that, which is why I have high regard for him. Sometimes, just saying "I don't know" is the best thing for ANYONE to say, whether a Christian or not, and I am certainly happy to say I don't know either. Is there a God? I don't know. If there was no God how did the Universe get here? I don't know. How can consciousness be explained without God? I don't know. If there is a God, how could he have just always been and never had a beginning? I don't know. Where will I go (if anywhere) if I die today? I don't know. I am happy to admit that I have got far more questions than I have answers.

@@JohnCashin hey John this is Jacob, I'm sorry if I did not make something clear to you when I try to speak with you before about this topic. So those two things I try to clear up for you. First regardless of God being outside of time space and matter verses we are not he is definitely still involved in everything, and that concludes our relationship with him. Remember like I tried to say before when your married you become one spouse to speak you become the other person and you love the other person as yourself that is how we are to be with God and that is how Christ was with your father. If Christ did not remsin Close to the father he never would have had that relationship and could have sinned. You mentioned the cross and the cup passing before him you have to understand he said those words to fulfill prophecy but also, so that we can have an example for us because if Christ did not let the cup pass if Christ accepted the responsibility of the sin and the punishment for sin, then we would be able to understand what our role in this is which is to repent to seek forgiveness and atone. It also shows us how to remain strong in the father how to trust in his promises as price trusted in those promises for a resurrection. People online the last few days asking what is the point of him being on the cross if he's just going to quickly go right to Heaven he really didn't suffer? Let's see what people don't understand he did suffer greater than we do she took that pain for us so we don't have to and as far as for death it is a sleep until he does come and raise as for the dead and we go to heaven in the blink of an eye it'll happen that fast because when your dad you know nothing could be a thousand years I could be one day and you wouldn't even know I can. Christ had not gone through that for we would not have the hope and the promise of our Resurrection as long as we remain in Christ and are faithful in a loving way not a force another guy online who keeps talking as if it's a game where we must do this or else know it is Free Will and its really love someone you'll do things for that in Christ does the same for us the true people that go to heaven or the one who truly wanted to love and follow Christ just as if you really love and want to follow your wife or your husband or whomever the person then you would actually do what you need to do for them to show that love. Not out of obligstiin, butbecause you love Him. As for the mystery, there are mysteries in our day all the time or we don't question those we go through them and have hope that they'll have me answers down the road so why not but the ones with the Trinity although I do understand the Trinity it is still a mystery to me. Because we are out of his league so to speak he's out of space and time and matter and we are mere humans and their brain comprehension which used to be a hundred percent no longer is horse hit her brains were 100% working to all knowledge so now that we don't have that kind of ability we question so many things that we get out so many things and we worry about so many things but what we should do instead his focus on what we know what we're learning as we go and make sure it's correct always want to make sure it's valid. There's too many things in the world that are tricking us because we rather pay attention to what the team important for what team is true but really is true we get caught up in philosophy we get caught up into many of these popular man made things to do then what's really important.

We are considered righteous before God because Jesus bore the wrath of the Father that was due to us, and also lived the perfect life that we couldn’t. It wasn’t the brutal act of of the crucification alone that reconciled us to God, but the wrath that the father poured out on his own begotten Son. On a side not, these men are very fun to watch!

Good explanation of the Holy Trinity Cliff and Stuart, but I favor the simplistic. When explaining the Holy Trinity, I tend to use the example of the shamrock...three separate leaves, one whole stem. That has proven to be clear, concise, and easy for everyone to understand.

The best way I can explain the trinity is by using this example. A lady can be a mother, a daughter and a wife. 3 different roles but same person.
God is omnipresent meaning, he exist everywhere at the same time. So he can be in heaven talking to his angels, while being on the earth talking to billions of people all at the same time. No other being has that ability except God himself.
For everyone who is struggling to understand the Bible or Jesus Christ, I would encourage you to open your heart and seek him to find the truth. God said if you draw near to him, he will draw near to you. Approach it like a new relationship and you will be surprise at the things he will show you. God bless

If we didn’t have the trinity and instead only had God the father, the omnipotent omnipresent creator, who is unlimited in greatness and full of mystery, then we would feel quite removed from God, because of the incredible difference between what He is and what we are.
But because God chose to represent Himself to us in a form that we could relate to, namely that of another human being, we don’t have that aloneness that we would have, if God didn’t come to be with us in this manner.
It’s comforting to have God expressing Himself to us in the tangible form of Jesus Christ.
    Our love for Him grows.
The greatness of His goodness is such that it attracts those who prefer good.
We wonder how He managed to deny Himself from appreciating what He was in the way that we would appreciate ourselves, if we were like Him.
He had crowds following Him in spell bound silence listening to every word He said.
He was an extraordinarily wise person.
    He was performing miracles.
    Healing the sick.
    He was respected.
    And greatly honoured.
But He didn’t let it go to His head.
Instead He elected to be meek and lowly of heart.
Who is there amongst all of us that could be like Him, being meek and lowly like He was, if we had everything going for us like He did?
    Matthew 11:29
    King James Version
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Maybe it’s a good trade off.
Swapping self admiration for Matthew 11:29 and getting rest unto our souls.
Jesus is our wise wonderful teacher.
    Teaching us the way.
Our eternal great high priest and friend.

The only thing I would add or or or suggest as a change or Peter advice that you can help others with because you'd word this better than I do people get jealous Ama they read in the gospels or hear from Christians talk about how Jesus walked with people back then showed himself spoke with them. Ntuc navigate can't have that tangible physical Jesus even though I receive the Holy Spirit can speak with us if we're willing to listen or obviously we have the holy word that it's all cracked because of jealousy they wish they could have that intangible me that tangible God visit them and be with them so they can see if Coronavirus I have people on here tell me that all the time Jesus was just come down and talk with me then I would believe you know that old fellow scenario so not sure how to explain that to them I normally can but it doesn't always go as well as I wish

You should know why, it's in the Bible!

    • @TheDemolition2000

The question that she was asking isn’t answered by that scripture. She was asking why God, who is all-powerful, and apart from whose will nothing would exist, wouldn’t just choose to “forget” about sins, rather than penalize and forgive. Because should God have chosen to do just that-forgive without having Christ tortured and killed-then that is exactly what would have come to pass, and it would have been perfectly acceptable-because he’s God, and he gets to make those decisions. So cliff gave the answer to the question: that God chose to punish Christ ALONGSIDE forgiving, so that he could be the embodiment of BOTH forgiveness AND justice. The scripture you showed says WHAT happened, but not WHY God chose it to happen like that.

@@TheDemolition2000 Hi. Firstly, I agree mostly with your argument so I l don't wanna sound opposing/arrogant but the answer to this question is clearly shown in scripture. The LORD Jesus Christ voluntarily took the full wrath of God on the cross and died because the LORD God is Holy, Holy Holy! He will not and cannot tolerate any sin due to His eternal goodness. I think it's in Mark 10v18 where Jesus elucidated that "only God is (ultimately and absolutely) Good alone". In Hebrews 9, "Without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness" and "the wages of sin is death" in Romans 6v23. God is Perfectly Good/Just Judge so He won't ignore evil because He wouldn't be the LORD God of the Bible then. Thats it.
Why specifically on the cross and not beheading or whatever, I guess is answered by Galatians(personally I think Psalms 22 too due to crimson worms) and considering the meaning of the cross in that time/ Roman culture perspective of those on the cross (psalms 22). God bless you.

3:10 She asks about the Trinity and how can God be 3 in 1. It's like the universe we live in. It's comprised of 3 things that make the 1 universe; time, space and matter. All 3 make 1 the universe and you can't any one of them without the other two. Or like the 3 states of matter being liquid, solid and gas. Take h20 which at room temp is liquid. Freeze it it becomes ice which is solid, heat it up it becomes steam which is gas. It exists in 3 states but it's essence is still always the same, h20. Same with God. Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3 in 1.

This topic I am going to discuss is for everyone here. It is for atheist, agnostics, Christian, Satanist, or anyone else. I hope I did not leave anyone out. Yes you can denote the sarcasm. Now for the seriousness. I am a hardcore loving Christian, I am not perfect in my walk with God I can't be otherwise I would be God. However, neither is anyone else on here. Today I have visited a few of the threads or conversations. The ones that I'm proud of or complimented they know who they are. And those are not subjective compliments LOL, but they are literal real objective compliments. In the past I even complimented objectively people who were atheist on here as long as they were honest and sincere and consistent with their beliefs and there's a few on here that are rotten to the Core they are neither artist you're sincere nor consistent and I don't have to name them they know who they are I've already told him this. I don't want the Christians Escape you there's a few Christians on here I have said the same two now I'm not judging them as if they're Damned I can't do that I'm not God and I do not know their heart but I can judge their fruit or their actions and there's some Christians on here that are equally guilty such as some of the atheist, being insincere, Hippocrates, Liars etcetera. So badly what to serve the Lord not because I think I know better than others on here because God loves everyone and if everyone could be saved that's what he Wills but because of free will not everyone will be saved, as they chose to be lost. I told people I was not going to explain why I cannot stay here, I wish I could because I want to try to reach people for Christ. However, as Christ had to wait at times and go into the Shadows or leave because it either was not his time or because he knew the crowd was going to swarm him and it wasn't time for him to be swarmed, I too shall go into the Shadows. Again, I am not better than any other Christian atheist agnostic or any other kind of believer on here I do not speak of myself as being God or even a good Christian there is no good Christian the only good one is Christ we can only live up to the light and love that we grow with in Christ Jesus Christ who is good it is Christ who is righteous. Now for the reason why I'm leaving. I'm not leaving out of hatred I'm not leaving out of division meaning because I can't handle atheist, I am not leaving because I don't have sound arguments Karma in fact my arguments are more sound than most of the atheist. You nothing but science or logic and philosophy. Believe it or not, I can do the same maybe not as good as you because I don't know all the big fancy words for everything but I have a very good brain and God has been very good to me but I don't use the brain from manipulation for using big words to trick or Tri people I do have a lot of logic I do have good Insight have a good wisdom only because God allows me to but I don't I can use it to hurt people lie to people. and that is one reason why I am not going to be on here anymore because I have even seen Christians use manipulation lies improper debate Etc to gain an advantage including about knowledge they don't really have they claimed to have so I am not going to deal with it anymore. the second reason, it's because I've had too many people do one of two things compare rate me for my eyesight, I have even had Christians berate me on a daily basis because sometimes my words are really bad or the microphone messes up a lot in fact the microphone right now as I'm speaking as shut down or shut off on me at least 10 times and Lily two paragraphs which is quite quite frustrating but I'm trying to leave a message for people and yet I get people breaking me everyday because I'm legally blind some Christian you are , but believe it or not some of the atheist on here are nicer about that. Now the last part of number two. I take God's word of the Bible very serious and I honor his word I'm not perfect in it because I am human but I apologize the best I can and yet I have Christians on here berating me for doing the very thing I Proclaim. one Christian in fact and I will mention his name is Paul hunt I even express something very personal to him because he said something that was not accurate about men being raped he said some great unchristian comments about it being okay that a man is raped and it's got okay when a man is raped I have been raped and he laughed about it and thought I should have enjoyed it I should have thankful Force most men would jump at the chance he said how dare I not be enjoying of the fact that I was raped that's the shitt I've been dealing with that's why I'm leaving and that was a Christian, that's very sad. but don't worry the two people I have your emails I will be in contact the rest of you Christians who are hypocrites and the atheist were liars and deceivers you can burn in the Lake of Fire that is your free will choice goodbye.

Here you go my friends, the gospel:
First, the most terrifying truth in scripture is...
God is Perfectly Good! I know this seems like totally good news but It isn't. We, humans, sure as hell aren't Good.
So, God who is perfectly Holy and the Just judge will not and can not let a single sinner go unpunished due to His Holiness. Bad news for all humans who sin like me(and you if you sin too).
Good news -> God is not only Justice/Holy but He is Love too. Thus, For God so loved the world that he gave His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus was sent by the Father and voluntarily became flesh. Jesus Christ, who is truly God and truly man, did this so that He would bore our sins and die as a sacrafice on the cross(since the wages of sin is death). On the cross He cried "It is finished". On the cross, He absorbed the Just punishment & righteous wrath of God that was meant for us sinners. He was buried but He did not stay buried because death couldn't hold the Living God and on Sunday, GOD ROSE JESUS FROM THE DEAD validating His claim to be a distinct person of YHWH (the triune God of the Bible). Because Jesus lives, we too may live. Then Jesus ascended to His Father's Right Hand in heaven and He is coming back soon a final time on judgement day to judge all humans. On that day every creature let alone every human, irrsepective of religion, will bow & confess Jesus as LORD with their tongues to the glory of God the Father. Some will do so defeatedly/out of terror of His Holiness and some out of willing praise of His majesty.
Whosoever Believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!!! And salvation from hell/everlasting life in heaven with God is the gift of God not of works. Its All by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. This means we don't deserve to be saved but God did it for His Name sake because He is Love. Whoever denies God's gift (salvation) revealed only in Jesus is still on their way to eternal hell like they deserve. You may deny Jesus by continuing to put your trust in your good works to get you into heaven but it won't work because Holy God will not be bribed. Our "good" works are but dirty rags to Him.

You hit on a good point. Actually historic Protestant doctrine teaches that God damned the Son splitting the Trinity since Jesus in this scheme becomes literal sin on the cross. Then Jesus goes to hell and bears the punishment you deserve.
Historic Christianity taught something very different. Historic teaching says that the penalty that Christ paid was to death. Adam in the garden of Eden was told that if he ate of the tree he would die. Protestant doctrine sees death as a punishment. Whereas historic Christianity saw death as a natural consequence due to separation from God's immortal glory. As a Consequence man became mortal. So Christ paid the penalty of sin which was death. Protestant theology distorts the gospel. It turns God into a cosmic debt collector. You might find this video interesting. On TH-cam watch "Protestantism and Evangelicalism Refuted" by Jay Dyer

The Lie That Made God a Mystery
      WHAT MANY BELIEVE
The Christian religion “in its three classic forms of Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism acknowledges one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. According to Christian theology, this acknowledgment is not a recognition of three gods but that these three persons are essentially one.”-The New Encyclopædia Britannica.
      THE TRUTH FROM THE BIBLE
Jesus, the Son of God, never claimed to be equal to or of the same substance as his Father. Rather, he said: “I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.” (John 14:28) He also told one of his followers: “I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.”-John 20:17.
The holy spirit is not a person. Early Christians “became filled with holy spirit,” and Jehovah said: “I shall pour out some of my spirit upon every sort of flesh.” (Acts 2:1-4, 17) The holy spirit is not part
of a Trinity. It is God’s active force.
      WHY IT MATTERS
The Trinity, explain Catholic scholars Karl Rahner and Herbert Vorgrimler, “could not be known without revelation, and even after revelation cannot become wholly intelligible.” Can you really love someone who is impossible to know or understand? The doctrine of the Trinity, therefore, is a barrier to knowing and loving God.
Marco, quoted in an earlier article, saw the Trinity as a barrier. “I thought God was hiding his identity from me,” he says, “and that just made him even more distant, mysterious, and unapproachable.” However, “God is not a God of confusion.” (1 Corinthians 14:33, American Standard Version) He has not hidden his identity from us. He wants us to know him. Jesus said: “We worship what we know.”-John 4:22.
When I learned that God is not part of a Trinity,” says Marco, “I was finally able to establish a personal relationship with him.” If we view Jehovah as a distinct Person rather than a mysterious stranger, it is far easier to love him. “He that does not love has not come to know God,” says the Bible, “because God is love.”-1 John 4:8.

Cliffe is 100% right when he says "a mystery is a truth that we don't have enough facts about to understand totally, so the trinity is definitely a mystery" . The God of the Old Testament bears little resemblance to the character of Jesus in the New Testament, Jesus is very big on loving and forgiveness, while Yahweh seems more of a war God intent on wiping out his neighbors rather than forgiving them. Didn't Jesus say we're to "love our enemies" *Forgive those who trespass against us*, yet , his father ( who is also him if we're to believe the Holy Trinity) did the complete opposite?
The dictionary definition of a mystery is :"something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain", I think you have to do some serious mental gymnastics to fully comprehend the Trinity.

Hey Tom, Seems like you have not read or decided to ignore what Jesus will do in the coming judgment and when He expressed anger and harshness in His time on earth. You also ignored the examples of God's love in the old testament and focused only on His judgment which you wrongfully described as hate or lack of forgiveness. This is a bit of a bias representation Tom. Also, neat of you to pick out that part of the Lords prayer as a stand alone, lets check the context of this , it says ; 'forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us' , the context here is obviously that we are all in need of forgiveness for we have all wronged, so it is asking for God to forgive us, so that we can be free and humbled to be able to forgive others. The part where it says "love our enemies" you assumne that judgment is done out of hate or void of love. Cliff just gave you the perfect example with the judge and the banker who are friends. Surely Tom, if i came to kill your kids and you shot me in defence, can i hold you at fault for not "loving your enemies?" By your double standard, you expect God to not exact judgment and count it as "loving" . This would be unjust and unfair.

Imagine someone brutally killed your most cherished loved one - for me, that would be my sweet little daughter.
The evidence is undeniable, the person confesses, etc...and is sentenced to the death penalty.
Right when the execution is about to happen, a total stranger comes forward and declares, "I will take that person's punishement!!"
The innocent person is then executed, and your daughter's killer becomes a free man. You would be okay with that?

Atheism isn't a religion as it has no faith component. Faith is what people use to justify their beliefs when they don't have a good reason.

God is Jesus. So, god killed himself? He never answered her question of the trinity. The bible cannot prove itself!! You need outside evidence; which does not exist in history, writings, or archeology.
If god is omnipotent why so many mistakes from the old testament to the new testament?
Jesus is an archetype of gods from the Greek and Roman myths. Read Edith Hamilton books on Mythologies.

When Jesus referred to God and himself as One, he meant that they were one in their thinking. The Trinity is a false doctrine!
God always existed. Jesus was God’s first creation.
