- I came up with the idea to build an awesome Finnish Sauna into a trailer. Since I am living in the North of Norway the motherland of Saunas - Finland is not far. To get the right oven for such a mobile Sauna project, I drove to Finland to buy the right sauna oven. I got for for less then 600 Euros an Harvia sauna oven, a hot water tank for the flue, and an insulated heat pipe. I made also in the the Finnish way friends and got a taste of some Finnish Hip - Hop down in Inari. When I returned to Norway, I immediately started working on the sauna. It took me way more time to build this sauna trailer as I was estimating. After more then a month, I finally could drive my portable sauna down to the fjord in Tromsø and set up fire in the oven. But the outcome of this project is just amazing. It is produces the right amount of heat, has an good air circulation and it can fit comfortably up to 6 people. I bought an old porthole from a ship, which became the signature of this North & Beyond sauna!

As a fellow Aussie who has done 2 x 1 month holidays in Finland, man I am so jealous. This is the dream. I miss that place so much. And making a portable sauna and drinking Finnish beer..... Sauna sausages.... I need to stop. Living the dream mate.
Hi Tim, Thanks for the comment man. Well when the world opens up again feel free to head north here with some friends and take the sauna to the fjords and you can do it all again... Camp oven cooking sauna, beers, fjord swimming... Live your dream dude!

Yeah we thought so too... 13kg of storytelling haha... Straight from an old ship to the easy life in a sauna. we love it there and it compliments the whole back end.... It was a terrific idea from Henning

I would love to build a hovercraft episode... however we might have to wait for bigger funds to come in to tackle that one...

@@ThreeStarVagabond Not necessarily mate... we can deliver the sauna to where you will be staying (fire it up if you like) and pick it up when you are finished. you just enjoy it like its yours and we do all the rest haha...... if you would like we can also prepare a meal over the fire while you are baking yourself so its ready for when you finish... think about it man.

HAHAHA... It was god but I had to force myself ... I'm a complete sook when it comes to cold water and the idea was to stay in the water for a whole minute...

We had Hennings trailer just sitting there in the yard.... and we wanted a sauna haha lets combine the two... and the idea worked out well we think... The KKN sauna was good.... but this one mate, is terrific! especially when the aurora shows. Glad you love it mate. Im going to write a how to blog that will be on the www.north-beyond.com website soon, so if you are interested to make your own you can check it out.

Awesome project! Do you know how much the whole sauna weighs? I'm planning on building one too in the future, but I'm concerned that I have to upgrade my car first to be able to tow the weight.
Well the trailer can carry 2 tons, we assume the sauna has about 1.2 t (1200 kg) - the next one will be build into a horse trailer, so we do not have to weld a metal cage.
That's a great project and finish! May I ask how big the trailer is? 10 X 6?

Hei, thanks man! the trailer is 3 meters by 1.6 meters and has a payload of 2 tones.
hi. i lived in tromso half year and missed this. now in new zealand building a sauna trailer. what timber did u use for the inside?
We used pine - it is okay but for the benches maybe harder wood is a better option.
If you can get another trailer do another one but with jacuzzi :D
We just bought another trailer, it will be a sauna again, but after the second one we will try a jacuzzi / hot tub

how did you fix the light? where did you got the electrical from?
We installed a 12 volt car battery under the bench

is enough for a trailer up to 750kg ? no overloaded?
We used a 2.000 kg - 750 kg with our set up might have been to small.
Do you got any ventilation in the sauna?
Yes, we have a ventilation hole down behind the oven and one on top above the door. Works very well.
What you used as a power source for your sauna?
75 ah car battery in an insulated box under the bench. We also add a computer fan with a thermostat in case it gets to warm.

The Sauna oven is heating with wood, the lights work with a 12Volt battery
