  • I am scuba-diving in the Norwegian Arctic with a sea chest of self brewed craft beers. The plan is to store them in an old ship wreck down on the Atlantic ocean. Here I will let them mature for at least 6 months by a constant temperature of 6 degrees. The ship wreck is not far from the 2. World War battleship Tirpitz, in the freezing waters of Tromsø in Norway. I will definitely do a short North & Beyond episode when I will retrieve the beers from the Ocean ground - if they will still be there, haha.
    +++ Update, Tobias did another dive since the beer sink into the cargo room of the vessel. We managed to fix a rope and connect them to the vessel. +++
    If you want to see how I made those beers check out our first episode: Brewing Beer from Glacier Ice here on TH-cam: • Brewing Beer from Glac...

      Not anymore dude, they harvested so much of it's steel, there is only a small plate outside the sea reminding on the incident.

    You definitely want to sort out that dry suit before you retrieve the beer. Excellent concept and original, I think

    ooof, flooded drysuit, been there, it sucks, especially in 6c water, lucky you didn't get hypothermia, I'd have bailed out imminently. I'll look forward to the beer retrieval.

      @northandbeyond  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ahhh the flood wasn't sooo bad... Mainly just one cuff... Oh and the air inlet.. 😂 But its all worth it for the cause, for the cause my man 😂😂😂 it's the second suit that's leaked though... Im hoping the third one is sealed tight. 😉 Yeah we can't wait for these beers also.

    Bloody awesome video! A bit more to see over there in the water than in the Stockholm archipelago. Took a dry suit course here and all I saw was dead fish and muck, with 0.5 m visibility. No beers and no cool wrecks!

      Thank very much Blue horizon Diving, glad to hear you like it, it was a fun dive, but actually challenging, I was well overweight (16kg) to make sure I stayed down, then the box was floating ... So my arse was sinking and my arm with the beer was a flotation device ... and I ended up swimming like a seahorse hahaha! But I have already thought of how it'll be when we raise these beers, I don't think I'll even have my equipment off before Its open HAHAHAHA

      @northandbeyond  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We are aiming for 6 months under the sea surface... which wil bring us into April to raise the beers. cant wait for that, and I'm very happy well have the sauna ready to go when we get out of the water hahaha

    You gus might want to tie the crate to the boat as the wood spend time under water is is going to soak up and your crate is going to sinck

    • @northandbeyond
      @northandbeyond  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolute, that is what we thought some hours later, haha. We already have a plan to go down there again and fix it with a clip onto the fishing vessel.

      @northandbeyond  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      UPDATE: One of us went down again last night, the crate sinked already down to the bottom of the vessels cargo room. We have secured it now, so now only thirsty humans would be able to let it disappear 😬

    Are you worried about bottle fermentation at 6 degrees using an ale yeast?

      It's already fermented and carbonation has already happened. So just maturing.
